Ch 6. LEORA'S HIDDEN EXPERTISE

"Grandma?" said Leora softly with her eyes blinking at the glare. She rubbed both eyes and then yawned.

"What's the matter, Grandma?" she asked confused.

"I already reminded you earlier, Leora," Eleanor replied, looking resentfully at Leora.

"Reminded of what?" asked Leora puzzled by the question.

"Close the window of the room," Eleanor said with a resounding. Leora just smiled at that.

"I'm sorry, Grandma. I felt very hot just now, so I just wanti it open, like that," she said.

"But it turned out that I fell asleep. What a fool," Leora muttered, looking at Eleanor with regret. Eleanor didn't get to heart to scold her grandsdaughter. She looked at Leora's study desk that full of book piles. Of course, Leora was too tired for studying just now. Her grandmother smiled at the sight of her.

"Never mind, Leora. Next time don't forget anymore," Eleanor said. She immediately walked out of Leora's room. But suddenly Eleanor turned her around. She walked quickly in the direction of Leora.

"What's wrong, Grandma?" asked Leora puzzled.

"Is there anything you missed?" she asked again. Eleanor didn't answer her, she walked closer to Leora. Slowly Eleanor sniffed her nose against Leora's face.

"Grandma, what are you doing?" asked Leora in surprise. She didn't expect that her grandmother was sniffing like that.

"There's something weird," Eleanor muttered confused. She looked at Leora suspiciously.

"What's the matter, Grandma? Talk something to me, please. Don't make me confuse  like this," Leora said. She knew her grandmother very well. If there is something suspicious, grandma usually always tells her.

Eleanor looked at Leora in doubt. But finally she sat on the edge of his granddaughter's bed. Eleanor grasped Leora's fingers.

"There's something grandma has to tell you, Leora," Eleanor said with a serious face. Leora watched her intently. She nodded her head.

"So grandma has been looking after you so tight because you are a girl who has holy blood," Eleanor said, looking at Leora. The girl looked at Eleanor in confusion.

"What do you mean, Grandma?" asked Leora later.

Eleanor then began to tell the history of their family who inherited the holy blood for generations. This sacred blood is the blood indispensable to the vampire family. They need this holy blood for the survival of their offspring. There aren't many vampire families left, but they definitely exist and are always looking for Leora's whereabouts. Because only a handful of people still have this sacred bloodline.

Although it is heavy and difficult to understand, but Leora tries to understand what her grandmother is telling her. She nodded and listened to what Eleanor said.

"So, how do I know if that person is a vampire or not?" asked Leora. Eleanor sighed deeply.

"Can't be exposed to the sun. Even if he can, he won't stand it too long. The power will be absorbed and can even burned," Eleanor replied.

"How if I'd have met him in a shady place?" asked Leora again.

"If you encounter all the strangeness that is not commonly possessed by humans. It could be that he is a vampire," Eleanor replied, looking at her granddaughter. Leora nodded in understanding. She also tried to remember who would have that such a characteristic.

"Yes, never mind. You can continue to sleep now," Eleanor said as she stood up. Shee immediately walked out of Leora's room.

Leora was pensive in her room. Her mind kept turning. Suddenly, Leora remembered the fierce lecturer. That's right, Elmer.

"He seems to fit the picture Grandma gave me earlier," Leora muttered silently in her heart.

"He can move very fast. It's even like flying."

"He can also hear my voice inside my heart."

"Is he really a vampire?" asked Leora curiously. Every scene she remembered instantly.

"That's right, none of that could have been done by an ordinary human being," Leora said softly.

Leora lay herself on the bed while continuing to think about Elmer. A mysterious fierce man. That's the nickname Leora gave him now. Finally, Leora fell asleep. Because she thought too much about Elmer, she dreamed about that guy!

***

As the days usually, Leora went to campus in a hurry, again. Not because afraid for being late but today Leora is leaving earlier than usual. She just wanted to start the lesson quietly. The first schedule is Mr. Elmer's class. The Mysterious Fierce Lecturer Class. Leora wanted to confirm if he was indeed a vampire.

The class that always noisy suddenly calmed down. It was so quiet so that the sound of the lecturer's footsteps was heard in the ears of all the students.

"Good morning!" he greeted coldly and expressionlessly.

"Good morning, Mr. Elmer," all the students replied together.

Elmer nodded and began to take out his book. Without saying much, he began to discuss a topic of discussion. All the disciples took notes and listened quietly. Likewise with Leora. She didn’t write the lessons, but make a note of the strangeness that she saw from Elmer's figure.

"What are you doing, Leora?" asked Ruby in a whisper. She looked at Leora's note. Of course Ruby was very surprised when she read it. There's not a sentence about the lesson there. Just scribbles with disheveled writing. Ruby wasn't sure that Leora could even read it again after that.

"Leora," she called softly.

"Hm," Leora replied as she wrote a word.

"Sharp?" asked Ruby as she read the writing. Leora nodded slowly.

"His gaze, his talk, all sharp right?" replied Leora.

"You're just looking for a trouble," Ruby muttered softly. Leora turned to look at Ruby and smiled faintly.

"Hey you!" called Elmer suddenly. Everyone looked in the direction he was pointing.

"Can you repeat again what I had explained just now?" asked Elmer, looking at Leora fiercely. Ruby gasped at that.

"Damn it, why should it also be Leora who is appointed," Ruby said silently without daring to turn to look at Leora. How could Leora possibly explain what was explained earlier if she hadn't noticed what was explained by Elmer at all?

All the college students looked at Leora who stood up and walked slowly to the front of the classroom. She read the writing on the blackboard. Leora turned her around. She is now facing the direction of the college student. All student are waiting with their chest flutter. It's nothing, because if Leora can't give a perfect description, other students will be appointed to help her. And not a single student wants to be in that position.

Leora greeted everyone in front of her. Elmer thought that it was just her lip service to buy time. He motioned her to begin immediately. Leora nodded and started talking.

Leora is indeed different than other student. Of course, because she has superior human descendants. Not only because she has a holy blood, but she also has abilities above the normaly human being generally. Only listen once and she will remember forever. Only reading once and she will also keep it in her mind. All the things that were seen, heard, felt and sniffed by her, though only once must have been well remembered.

And that's how it happened. Without any difficulty  Leora can do what Elmer asks. It wasn't the praise that was earned, but Elmer's sharp gaze that felt like it was hitting her. Suddenly Leora felt that her legs were very heavy to step on. She looked at her leg that can’t be moved at all. When she raised her head, Leora was very surprised by what was in front of her.
