Chapter 3

Eva glanced at her and was instantly filled with love. She gave the little girl a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, my baby girl!”

Returning the kiss, Mia Lane smiled sweetly. “You’re welcome!”

Another baby-ish voice was heard saying, “Have some tea, Mommy…”

A little boy of about four was holding a teacup. He had a fair and clean face with pretty features. He was wearing a white T-shirt and mini overalls. The stoic expression on his face made him look kind of cool. He had pretty lips and nice teeth like his sister.

Eva quickly took the cup from him before giving the little boy a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, my baby boy.”

Max blushed slightly, but his tone was quite cool as he said, “I’ll help Mommy trim the leaves.”

With that, he pulled the little stool over and began to help sift through the flowers.

Eva’s heart warmed as she watched her kids being so well-behaved. It felt just like the burning glow of the sunset outside the window.

It was at that moment that someone opened the door of the shop.

A tall, slender, and elegant figure came from outside.

The man had a handsome and gentle face. There were a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his face which made him look noble and intelligent.

He spotted all three of them immediately, and a smile broke out on his face as he said, “Hey, little ones. I’ve brought you something yummy.”

The children were elated when they saw him.

Immediately running to him, Mia hugged his leg. “You’re here, Uncle Mason! What yummy stuff have you brought us? Let me have a look.”

Max did not run to him, though his eyes brightened as he looked over at Mason with his big, round eyes.

Mason looked at both of them and immediately pulled his hand out from behind his back. “Ta-dah… It’s your favorite chocolate cake! I queued up for more than an hour just to get this.”

“Wow, Uncle Mason is the best!”

Mia clapped her hands in a rare moment of showing appreciation.

Eva could not help laughing when she saw this. She turned to Mason and said, “You shouldn’t spoil them, Mason. You’re always bringing toys and snacks for them whenever you’re here.”

Smiling, Mason replied, “Well, they seem to like it. Don’t let it bother you. It isn’t anything expensive at all.”

Eva sighed. Mason was Eva's senior during her college years. He had helped them enough.

She had ended up lost and distraught after running away from that hotel five years ago that night. It was something she could never get over from.

No one could tell her why something like that had happened.

After that, she tried forgetting everything about that night.

However, she unexpectedly got pregnant.

By the time she realized it, she was already three months pregnant. The only way to terminate the pregnancy was to induce labor.

She almost fell apart back then. Mason was the one who had helped her apply for half a year’s medical leave from the school to allow her time to take care of her pregnancy. He was also the one who tutored her every day.

In the end, she managed to give birth to the twins and get her graduation certificate as well.

However, she was not able to look for any work because she had to take care of two babies. In the end, Mason was the one who came up with the money to invest in her floral shop.

Mason had been taking good care of her and the children all these years. The children loved him, and Eva was deeply grateful to him.

As the children were sharing the cake, Mason turned to look at Eva. He smiled and said, “Put together a bouquet for me, Eva. I’ll be taking it with me before I leave.”

“Alright. No problem.”

Eva agreed heartily. Smiling, she teased him, “Is the bouquet for your girlfriend? You’ve been with each other for so many years. When are you planning to get married? When you do, I’ll make sure to take care of all the floral arrangements at your wedding.”
