Chapter 7

Amy felt humiliated by the sudden questioning and wanted to give an excuse, but she was suddenly faced with looks of accusation from the crowd.

This woman had always lorded over everyone by exploiting Nicole’s popularity. Amy had always looked down on everyone at the shooting location. It was not the first time she had acted so arrogant and domineering. This time, she even bullied such adorable children!

“Have some decency. How could she bully two young kids when she’s a much older adult?!”

“Just look at how cute they are. That little girl is breaking my heart from all her crying…”

Amy looked increasingly unhappy as the accusations commenced.

To Nicole, nothing was more important than Nathan.

She had always been high-profile and felt that it was pointless to be friendly to just one or two fans. In fact, she was now blaming her assistant for not being able to resolve such a minor issue.

Nathan had now noticed what was happening, and this prompted Nicole to go over to Amy. “What's going on?”

Amy explained what happened and pushed the blame on the child for being careless.

Eva got even angrier when she heard this. “Miss Pileggi, it isn’t reasonable for an adult to be treating a child this way, is it?”

Nicole smiled and replied, “I’m the one to blame for not being able to manage my assistant well. Is the child alright?”

She crouched down after saying this, trying to check Mia’s wound.

However, Eva could tell the look of impatience in Nicole’s eyes.

All Nicole did was take a quick look before she immediately reached into her purse and took out a few notes. “I’m very sorry, Madam. Please treat this as compensation for the child’s medical fees.”

“Nicole, this lady must apologize to my sister,” Max said unhappily as he pouted.

The little guy’s words were completely ignored by Nicole.

As for the money that was handed out, Eva did not take it. A cold look appeared in Nicole’s eyes as she frowned.

“Amy, take care of this situation. Don’t delay this any longer!” Nicole said with a huff, planning to leave after coldly giving those instructions.

Eva was filled with disappointment. Her children liked Nicole a lot.

However, it now seemed like Nicole’s down-to-earth image and her other qualities such as loving kittens and puppies—especially children—were nothing but a deception.

Eva crouched down to pick up her little boy.

Surprisingly, there was another pair of hands faster than she was.

Nathan picked Max up slowly, smiling as he asked, “Are you alright, little guy?”

Lifting his little head, Max saw a handsome man in front of him.

Their eyes met, and a strange feeling appeared inside of Nathan.

“Are you hurt?” Nathan checked Max up and down.

Max was about to shake his head when Eva pulled him back to her with a cautious look on her face.

Nicole did not expect Nathan to suddenly interfere. She quickly smiled, explaining, “My assistant is to blame for this, Nathan. She accidentally caused my little fan to fall. I was about to send her to the hospital for a check-up.”

Eva could not help thinking how good Nicole’s acting was when she saw this. Nicole was able to switch attitudes just like that.

This man in front of her must be really important to Nicole.

“Miss Pileggi, please get your assistant to apologize to my little girl. I don’t think it’s anything too difficult to do.”

Eva rubbed Mia’s head as she emphasized this.

Nicole glared at Amy immediately and quickly said, “Yes, you’re right. She should apologize.”

Shocked by the glare, Amy said insincerely, “I’m… I’m really sorry. This is all my fault. It was careless of me.”

A bright smile finally appeared on Max’s little lips when he heard the apology. Blinking, Mia stared curiously at Nathan.
