Chapter 8

Nathan gave the little girl a friendly smile.

He rarely smiled, but when it came to these little kids, his attitude softened without a second thought.

When Nicole saw the tension diffused, she quickly smiled at Nathan and said, “You’re a really kind man, Nathan. Give me a minute. I’ll settle this immediately.”

Nodding, Nathan got up to leave.

Before he left, he glanced at Eva. There was a curious look deep inside his eyes.

Eva, on the other hand, did not think much about him. The only thought she had about him was that he was a good-looking man.

The children stared at Nathan’s back as he walked away.

“Mommy, that man is really handsome!” Max praised.

“Yeah. He’s really, really handsome. Don’t be sad, Max. You’ll be just as handsome when you grow up.” Mia smiled as she encouraged her brother.

The look on Nicole’s face changed as Nathan walked away.

She glanced at Eva. “Madam, I thank your kids for being my fans. How about I sign two sets of autographs for your children and we’ll let bygones be bygones? Does that sound good to you?”

Eva frowned when she heard Nicole’s insincere tone.

Amy quickly presented Nicole with a pen and two sheets of paper. Nicole signed them quickly before handing them to the children.

“Here you go. I signed them personally. Not many fans are able to get their hands on my signature.” Even though she was smiling, the smile did not reach her eyes.

However, Max shook his head continuously. “I don’t want your signature, Nicole. I just realized that I like my mommy better!”

There was awkwardness in the air.

Even though those were just innocent words from a child, Nicole felt quite embarrassed.

She was quite unhappy about it. How dare a child like him compare her with an ordinary housewife?

Eva noticed the change and quickly waved her hands, saying, “We’ve already received the apology, Miss Pileggi. We’ll let this matter go.”

With that, she grabbed her children’s hands in each of hers and prepared to leave.

However, she did not expect Nicole to act out angrily as she began to speak sarcastically behind Eva.

“Don’t be so careless the next time, Madam. After all, there's a production crew here, and not anyone can come in just like that. You should make sure to take care of your children and teach them what manners are!”

Eva stopped in her steps. Her eyes turned cold, but she did not look back.

“You’re right, Miss Pileggi. I was the one who didn’t educate them well. How could I allow them to go running after celebrities? It’s all thanks to you that they've learned a valuable lesson today!”

Eva drove home with the children in tow.

Max’s little head was lowered along the way. He said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Mommy. I won’t ever like another actress again.”

Eva glanced at her son through the rearview mirror while driving. She smiled as she said, “There is no need to apologize. I wanted to praise you for protecting your younger sister. Well done.”

When Max saw that his mommy did not blame him and was praising him instead, his sadness transformed into happiness.

Mia joined in and said, “I don’t want Nicole anymore too. Mia loves Mommy. Mommy is the best!”

This warmed Eva’s heart. She said with a smile, “Mommy loves you both the most too.”

Nicole was not in the mood to shoot anything after Nathan left. She was in a terrible mood.

She was mad at Amy. “Look what you did!”

This upset Amy. “I didn’t expect things to turn out that way, Nicole.”

The production assistant walked over right at that moment and said softly, “We’re ready to shoot, Miss Pileggi.”

Nicole’s temper immediately flared as she said unhappily, “What's there to shoot? Have my flowers arrived? We’ve been delayed for too long today. I’m not shooting anything more.”

The look on the production assistant’s face changed. “Miss Pileggi, I’ve already gotten you the roses you asked for. The scene for the petals in the bath has also been set up. If you don’t shoot the scene today, our efforts will be wasted. Even the director is ready to shoot…”

“I’ve already told you I won’t be shooting anymore, don’t you understand? Do you think only your time is valuable and mine isn’t?”

With that, Nicole ignored the production assistant and left in a huff.

Amy quickly followed behind.

The production crew present were all angered by her behavior.

This woman… Who did she think she was?

How could she make the entire crew go through all that for nothing?!

Nicole did not care, though.

Once she was out of the production set, she asked Amy, “Do you know where Nathan went?”

Amy replied, “Mr. Langley has returned to the hotel in the city center. He'll be dining with you later tonight.”
