Chapter 5

Jessie went to the door and opened it. Standing in front of her, was a woman the same age as her mother with blond hair that looked so shiny she became jealous and eyes green like an apple.

"Are you Mrs. Ross who spoke with me on the phone?" The beautiful woman questioned, her voice crisp and clear but also elegant and refined. Jessie quickly refuted the statement and welcomed the guest in.

"This is the Mrs. Ross you spoke with, she is my mother" she pointed at her mother who walked towards her guest.

"Hello, my name is Eva Ross, you can call me Eva or Mrs. Ross,I don't really care." she introduced while stretching her hand out for a handshake.

"You can call me Rosabella or Mrs. Lane, then, whatever suits your fancy" Rosabella took the hand and reintroduced herself in return. She then took a look at the house she was to decorate. She was impressed with the furniture arrangements.

"I have to admit you did a terrific job with the furniture. I might even say you've lessened my workload. " She commented, her smile making Eva's face turn pink. Jessie was surprised seeing as her mother wasn't the type to blush easily.

"I'll leave you two to it then, I'm leaving". Jessie went to her bedroom which had been fitted an hour before. She rummaged through her bag and brought out her purse. She needed to leave the house.

On getting downstairs, she saw her mom and Mrs. La... Rosabella with her mom at the kitchen counter sipping on coffee and tea respectively, looking at designs and talking like they had known each other for ages. "Damn, she works fast. " Jessie thought, she knew her mom was quick at making friends but wasn't this a little too fast.

"Okay mom, I'm off. See you at dinner. " Jessie rushed her words and left the house before her mother could say anything to stop her. She breathed a sigh of relief at her successful escape, a smile on her lips as she walked down the street ready to explore this new town.

Meanwhile,

With Olive,

Olive had successfully managed to squeeze in six hours of sleep and thanks to her mom's incense, she didn't have a single nightmare.

Waking up, she ambled down to the living room and saw it empty. She was disoriented for a moment because her momo was usually at home during the weekends before remembering that there was a last minute client she had to meet by 10.

She looked around, her eyes still hazy from sleep. Moving back to her bedroom she quickly went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and take a bath.

Once she was freshened up, she went to the refrigerator and saw a stack of four carefully made sandwiches spread with thinly sliced turkey and ham, a mix of sardines and butter(a combination her mom had learned from one of her trips to Africa, which quickly became her favorite) and a jug full of orange juice now extremely chilled thanks to the coldness of the fridge.

She took out the sandwiches, unwrapped them and took a bite. Her moan of satisfaction was so loud and graphic that it would have been embarrassing if it was heard anywhere else. She closed her eyes and inhaled the sandwich before taking a glass to pour out some orange juice.

After polishing the plate of sandwiches, she looked around still feeling hungry which was strange because normally this would be enough to get her through an entire day. However, she chalked it up to her losing a lot of strength and energy form crying last night.

Rummaging through the cabinet, she found a box of cereal. With a sound of victory, she poured some into a bowl and proceeded to pour enough milk to fill the bowl adding two tablespoons of sugar. She quickly finished the bowl and drank the leftover milk, smacking her lips, she rinsed her mouth off with her glass of orange juice.

Flicking her wrist, she made the bowl float to the sink, the tap coming on and the sponge floating up to wash the bowl. After washing the bowl, the sponge rinsed itself under the tap, the bowl following after. After rinsing itself, the bowl floated to the drying rack.

Once she was done cleaning up, Olive picked up her phone went through her messages. She spent two hours on her phone and was ready to call it quits, when there was a knock on the door. She wondered who it could be since she hadn't made plans with Chelsea or Ashton for the weekend.

Opening the door, she was surprised to see her best friend wearing a jumper and she wasn't alone either, her hand was being held by an adorable 6 year old kid, who was Chelsea's baby cousin and Ashton's little sister.

The child was a complete replica of Ashton, so much so that strangers would think that she was his daughter and not his sister. After looking at her bestie like an idiot for some minutes, Chelsea finally lost her patience.

"Aren't you going to let us in?" Her question made Olive snap out of her stupor, and let them into the house. Chelsea immediately went for a chair, deposited her luggage(cousin) and put on some cartoons for her to keep her distracted.

They moved to the kitchen so Olive could begin her questioning. "Ummm... What is going on? Why are you babysitting Rosie? Where's Ashton? Why isn't he with you?" Olive fired question after question not even giving Chelsea a chance to answer, so she slapped her palm onto her friend's mouth shutting her up very effectively.

Once she was sure that Olive wouldn't start interrogating her, she released her mouth and began to answer her questions one by one."I'm babysitting because Ash's parents decided that today is their child free day" she said rolling her eyes. "I'm stuck on babysitting duty because apparently I'm am responsible",she sounded honestly affronted that someone thought of her as responsible that Olive couldn't help but snort.

"Ashy is busy working with my dad in the shop, so don't be scared, your boyfriend is safe and healthy" Chelsea joked, chuckling as Olive let out an audible sigh of relief.

"So today is just for babysitting? " Olive asked her friend as she opened a bag of chips and poured them into a bowl. When her friend answered in the affirmative, Olive made the fridge open and three bottles of soda to float out.

"Then we shall spend the day eating junk food and watching movies." Two more bag of chips followed Olive to the living room leaving her friend stunned at Olive's casual display of magic.
