Stacy’s First Job

Stacy Simmons woke up early Monday morning for school. It was a warm spring day in April. She was super excited because she had just landed her first babysitting job the day before. Stacy turned 15 this month and wanted to save for her first car. Her parents had told her on her birthday a week prior that they would match whatever she saved for her 16th birthday the following year. Stacy was 5 foot 6 inches tall, slim with what she thought was an ok figure. She had long auburn hair that she wore to her waste with soft curls and big green eyes just like her mother.

Stacy quickly got ready for school and ran down stairs to the breakfast table. Her parents Marc and Sylvia were already seated and eating when Stacy ran in to join them. Stacy walked by her kid brother Matt and tasseled his soft blonde locks. Matt grimaced and squealed at Stacy “ Stop doing that! I’m not a little kid anymore”. Stacy giggled Matt you are 10 years old. Matt rolled his eyes Aaron his sister “ I’m in the double digits now”.

Sylvia spoke up and told her children to settle down and finish breakfast. Stacy sat down and gulped her juice down before reminding her parents, “Mom, Dad don’t forget I have my first babysitting job tonight for the McKenzie’s a block over so I will be late coming home tonight. Sylvia’s face instantly became worried as she thought about the recent events that had been happening in a town not far from them. Sylvia looked at Stacy with worry in her eyes “I really wish you would do something besides babysitting. It just isn’t safe right now with the murders that have happened in the last 6 months. “Oh Mom” Stacy huffed “Stop exaggerating about that”. Everyone at school says those were fake and never happened”. Sylvia frowned “ Your friends do not know the details like I do”. “Everyone of those girls were babysitting when they were attacked and the police still don’t know who killed them”. “The newsman said this morning that there are not any leads and very few clues to follow”. “This evil person is like a ghost and know one knows how they can be stopped. Matt looked up from his morning paper, Sylvia stop scaring the girl”. “We we’re the ones that said she could get a job and she did, so how can we stop her”. “Besides, she’s only going to be a block away. The McKenzies have a security system, surveillance cameras and a telephone, Stacy will be perfectly safe”. She also has her own cell phone and can call us if she needs us. Sylvia signed knowing she wasn’t going to get anywhere with these two and proclaimed“ I still don’t like it but I guess you’re right”. Matt feigned shock while laughing and grabbed his chest “Stacy quick get a recording of this momentous occasion, your mom said I’m right about something”. Sylvia playfully slapped her husband on the back while swearing “I will get you back for that”.

Stacy smiled at her parents playful behavior and daydreamed about the time she could drive to school instead of walking. Stacy jumped up and kissed both her parents on the cheek and ruffled Matt’s hair again before dashing out the door to head to school.

Stacy was a Freshman at Morgansville High School. The school was named after the small town Stacy lived in in Morgansville Georgia. Stacy was a good student who worked hard for good grades. Her teachers were all partial to Stacy as she never caused trouble and always worked hard in class. Stacy met up with her best friend Sandra Blaine on her walk to school. Sandra had lived next door to Stacy their whole lives and walked to and from school together everyday. Sandra was a petite brunette with big brown eyes and a dazzling smile. Sandra was not as shy as Stacy and exclaimed loudly “I can’t believe you are babysitting tonight. Aren’t you scared? My mom said the wacko targeting babysitters is still on the loose! Stacy sighed “No” she said quietly I’m not scared and there is no wacko on the loose. Everyone is saying it’s a hoax anyway and no one was really killed. Sandra shook her head excitedly Uh uh those girls in Huntersville really died. My dad knows one of the families. Well regardless Stacy retorted that was two towns away and nothing has happened in Morgansville so why should I be scared? Stacy laughed as she exclaimed I have to earn as much money as I can in the next year so we can ride to school in style.

Stacy and Sandra arrived at school and parted ways as they went to their classes. Stacy walked into her home room class oblivious to the fact that in the shadows watching her walk to school was a lone figure with an old grey hoodie that had seen better days. He had listened to the young girls talk about the babysitter stalker and thought to himself just how wrong young Stacy was. He had laid low for awhile since the last time, but it would seem that is was time for another appearance.

Morgansville was about to become famous.
