Lucian's POV

The air in the medical center felt heavy with anticipation as I awaited Dr. Eira's update on Calla's condition. Her hesitant expression did not escape my notice, and a knot formed in my stomach. I couldn't help but fear that there was more to this than exhaustion and shock.

As Dr. Eira approached me, her eyes filled with sympathy, my heart sank. The mere look on her face was enough to confirm my worst fears. I braced myself for the blow, knowing that whatever she was about to say would shatter the fragile hope that had clung to my heart.

"Alpha Lucian," she began gently, her voice laced with compassion, "during our examination, we discovered that there is no longer a fetus in Calla's womb."

Shock reverberated through my entire being, as if the ground had been ripped from beneath my feet. The room spun around me, and I struggled to find my balance. I felt as though the air had been sucked out of the room, leaving me gasping for breath.
