Chapter 3

All eyes turned to the second floor, where Brian was standing.

"Long time no see; you no longer recognize your mother?" Luna Serena, displeased, raised her cold voice.

Brian was not surprised by his mother's presence; he slowly walked down the stairs. He paused for about two seconds as he passed me, then quickly moved on.

"Who hit you?" Brian didn't let Kate in his eyes.

I pursed my lips and didn't answer, struggling with the last of my strength to sit up, when a sharp pain came from my stomach, causing me to lose weight and tumble forward. Luckily, Brian reached out a hand to support me, his cold gaze grazing me, his brows slightly furrowed.

An unprecedented sweetness filled my chest; his breath was manly, and his strong arms gave off a hot feeling.

"The smell of blood is unpleasant; change your clothes first." He let go of me and sat on the chair, never looking directly at Luna Serena. "What are you doing here today?"

"This is not the attitude you would talk to your mother in." Luna Serena snapped. "You should review your behavior and reflect on yourself; if you were good enough, you wouldn't have been harmed by others like this."

Brian didn't seem to mind; he just raised his eyebrows at me, giving orders. "Go!"

I bowed low to Luna Serena and carried my wounded body upstairs. Standing against the door alone, I could freely express my sad expression without fear of being hated by anyone. My body was already in so much pain that I lost feeling; it took a while to get to the bathroom.

After changing, I did not dare to delay and went to the living room.

Just then, I caught the situation between Brian and Luna Serena becoming tenser.

“How long are you planning on living this useless life?” Luna Serena angrily looked at Brian; this was the first time she had shown such an enthusiastic attitude since coming here.

Brian still kept his face calm. “If you just want to ask this, go home; the result is the same.”

Luna Serena narrowed her eyes; her hands clenched on the arm of the chair. “This time, I return to help you become an Alpha; you have to lift your spirits immediately; it's been four years. What do you do for a coward hiding in this filthy place?"

"I don't need it," Brian replied coldly. "Don't think that you gave birth to me, left me, and now come back; you have the right to point your finger and order me to obey."

Luna Serena froze momentarily like she was lost in her world; waking up took her a while. There was a flash of hatred in her eyes. “The conflict between us needs to be calculated later. The important thing in front of you is whether you can become Alpha. You are the inheritor of noble pure-blood Alpha blood, not the son of a lowly commoner like Richard. Do you stand there and watch him step on your head, looking down on you?"

Brian was silent; from beginning to end, his face was indifferent, unable to see through his emotions.

"If you think that your life is still peaceful after he becomes an Alpha, you are wrong." Luna Serena has calmed down; every word is sharp and cold. "If you live like a waste, you'd rather die."

I looked at her in amazement; I didn't understand how a biological mother could say such hurtful words to her child.

Luna Serena closed her eyes, then grabbed the rose from the table; she threw it on the ground, crushed it with her foot, and looked at Brian again. "In the future, your fate will surely be like this wildflower; anyone can trample you and look down on you."

I looked at Brian, heartbroken; I don't know what he's thinking in his heart right now, is his heart also hurting?

"I feel that Luna is very accurate; please think twice. Richard is a goddamn coward, don't let him get cocky." Kate stepped forward to interrupt the conversation.

Suddenly Brian's gaze shifted; his voice was as cold as ice. “Who here gives you the say?”

Brian waved his hand as he finished speaking and landed on Kate's face.

I covered my mouth in horror, unable to imagine how powerful the blow just now was. I only saw Kate rolling on the ground with her face in her hands; half of her face was beaten and distorted, blood oozing out the back of her hand.

Brian stood up, slowly walking in front of Kate. She immediately knelt, her face pale as if she saw a demon. She kept banging her head, begging, and speaking quickly and urgently. "Forgive me; I know I was wrong; next time, I don't dare to repeat it, absolutely not."

"Tell me, which hand hit my slave?" Brian's tone was light, but falling into the ears of others was like a death claim.

Kate's thighs trembled, and she turned to Luna Serena for help.

"Can not answer? Do you mean two arms and two legs?” Brian stooped down, moving extremely fast, and broke Kate's arm bones.

I covered my mouth and leaned against the wall, trying to lessen my sense of existence.

Once again, the sound of broken bones was mixed with Kate's anguished screams.

Looking back, because of the pain and fear, she fainted.

'He's… scary.' Oralie groans in my head.

Luna Serena looked at him coldly, showing no emotion. "Enough?"

"I'm tired today; I don't want to talk." Brian stood up, disgustedly wiped the blood off his hands with a handkerchief, and threw the towel down on Kate.

Luna Serena took a breath to control her anger; she ordered the driver to take Kate out first and then stood up; when she passed Brian, she said coldly. “Think carefully about what I say today. If you are willing to watch that vile woman and her lowly child step on your head, then I have nothing more to say.”
