Immediately she said that Everette began to shiver. She is starting to feel the cold now. She wasn't feeling the cold then due to her worries. But when the old woman made it known, she couldn't help but hug herself more tightly, gritting her teeth.

"Take this. You can help yourself home with this." The woman hands over her umbrella to her but Everette returns it.

"No ma'am. It's still raining. You need it more than I do. My house is closer." Everette says and hands it back to her.

"Thank you ma'am." She thanks her with a little smile and walks away from her.

The old woman needs it more than she does. "My child!" The woman calls and walks over to her. She stares at Everett and gives out a genuine smile. "Whatever you are going through now, just know it is for a reason. Everything will be okay atlas." She says to her and turns around, walking off to her direction.

Everette got emotional again by the old woman's words. She wipes off her tears quickly and keeps walking on, gathering more of her thoughts. She deserves to be wet and cold. This is her punishment for the stupid mistake she committed . A mistake that costs her wedding and the reputation that her in-laws had on her. She disappointed everyone, especially herself. She deserves to be beaten by the rain. Everette murmurs to herself and blames herself till she gets home.

She walks inside and meets her sister on the couch with her mom. They both held a worried look. Her mom jumps up immediately, she sees her while her sister follows suit.

"Everette!" She calls out in shock and rushes towards her. "What happened to you? Oh my dear! You should have stayed somewhere and waited for the rain to stop. You may catch a cold." Her mom scolds and rushes inside to bring a towel for her.

"Everette, did you meet with Jim? What did he say?" Isabella asks her immediately, her mom went out of sight. She stares at her curiously.

"Nothing." Everette's voice trembles as she replies. "I didn't meet with him." She stutters.

"Come here dear." Her mom arrives in no time and dries her up with the towel. She wraps the other one around her body and leads her to her room.

"Sit, my dear. Are you okay?" She asks softly and Everette nods her head in reply.

"Go on and change your clothes. I will be back." Her mom walks out again to make her some tea. Everette stands up and changes her cloth into a dry and more comfy one. She rinses her face up and is glad that the streak of tears isn't obvious. The rain helps in some way. Everette remembers the woman's advice and sighs tiredly. She's exhausted. How did the issue that happened to her help in a positive way? Everything happens for a reason? She's sure what happened to her has no reason at all. The pitiful reason is that she was drunk and that's all. No other tangible reason! No positive outcome from it.

Everette scoffs and walks back to her room. She meets Isabella standing at the doorway with a frowny face.

"Hey." Everette says to her with a crooked voice.

"Where did you go? I thought you went over to challenge him?" Isabella suddenly asks. "He should have a reason for what he did. What's his reason?" She added.

Everette is taken aback by her question and is fidgeting whether she should tell her or not. Should she tell her the truth? How will they take it? If her mom knows about it, will she abandon her like how Jim and his parents did? She knows they will be disappointed by her actions, surely they will but will they take any provocative measures against her.

"Isabella I…." She stutters as she avert her gaze from hers. "I went over to see him but I didn't see him." Everette whispers, staring at the ground as the flashes of what had happened runs through her eyes. How his mom warned her to get out of their house and how they left her in the rain for hours with no remorse. If they had told her, they would do this to her, she would never believe it. If they had told her, Jim would ignore her in the rain and his parents would have rejected her, she would never have believed the words.

Isabella looks at her suspiciously. "He isn't around. You mean he absconds from the wedding. Why? What did you do to him?" Isabella is really confused about the whole situation and wants to be more clear.

"Isabella, let your sister have some rest. I will talk to her, okay. Get back to your room." Mom orders as she walks in with a tray of tea on top of it.
