Five

Everette closes her eyes tightly and the event that had happened from four days ago till yesterday flashes through her head. Holding the bachelorette party changes everything in her life.

"Talk to me, Everette." Her mom thunders at her. Everette shakes and is forced out of her thoughts.

"We had an issue but I thought we would talk it out and resolve it." Everette explains with a shaky voice.

"That's what you should do. Talk it out and resolve it instead of him taking these immature measures." Mom says bitterly.

"How big is this issue?" Isabella asks suddenly. Everette glances up at her and can feel her eyes boring into hers. How big is the issue? Her question replayed in her mind. So big! So big that she has to be jilted at her wedding. Is Jim himself a virgin? Why did he treat her this way? Because she's no longer a virgin? Did he stick to her because she was a virgin? Is it the virginity he loves her for and wants from her. If not, then why did he run away when he learnt she lost it. Hasn't he done worse than that?

Everette stands up abruptly. She walks out of them and climbs down the altar, heading to the entrance.

"Everette, where are you going?" Her mom raises her voice after her. Where is she going? To confront him. To talk to him. To beg him. To save her from this embarrassment. To own up to her mistake and begs him till he accepts. She is at fault here. It was her mistake and she is owning up to it.

Everette rings the bell consistently but no one comes to answer her. They were all at home, Jim and his parents. Their cars are at the drive way so she knows they were in but they aren't answering the door for her.

Everette keeps ringing the bell. "Mom, please answer me!" She cries out loudly to their attention. She doesn't care what anyone thinks of her or what the neighbors who were seeing her devastated state think of her. She's here for a thing and until she gets it, she won't leave.

The door opens in a flash and Everette smiles that her consistency later works but her smile is wiped off with what she heard next.

"I'm not your mother, bitch." Jim's mom spat at her. "Go on and meet whoever you slept with and have a grand wedding with him. We don't want you here anymore." She cursed at her.

"Please let me in. I want to talk to him." Everette pleads. She can't believe Jim has told his parents everything whereas her parents don't even know a thing.

"Sorry, we can't allow you in. Your constant ringing is disturbing. I opened the door to warn you to stop." Everette can't help but wonder at her change of reaction. She thought she had always loved her. Has she hated her secretly?

"Please, I want to talk to him. He can't do this to me. I explained to him. I explained everything to him because I thought he would understand. Why is he…" Everette was saying while in tears when the door bang closed in front of her. The remaining words hang in her mouth as she stares at the door.

She turns back and climbs down from the door mart. She can feel her hair get wet down to her body as she glances up to the rain. Rain! The rain is falling. The rain washes off her tears and no matter how she cried, the rain makes it hidden. She sits down beside their house and cuddles herself up. The rain keeps falling on her but Everette is determined to stay there and leave. Not until they reply to her and Jim comes out to meet her. She won't leave from here until she talks with him. She won't leave from here until he tells her why he did that to her.

She won't leave!
