Chapter 8: Cold, Blank Stare

I stared at her for a few minutes. I wanted to say a lot to her but I chose to remain silent. Yes, I'm a bit hurt by her words, but still, I stopped myself from taking her words seriously and also had a fight with her. She's a bit drunk now.

"Hailey, just go and do your thing. I don't have any complaints. Do you understand?"

Hailey murmured something, but I didn't pay attention to it. My eyes were too busy scanning the whole area to divert my irritation. I am hoping to meet and see some familiar faces who are also having fun at the bar. The music is still loud. I feel like I just want to request that it be turned off now, but I know I can't do that. One of the factors is why I can't quite understand what Hailey's telling me. Add to that the loud shouting of the people all around us as they dance and grind along with the music, which makes her voice almost disappear from my hearing. They are obviously enjoying themselves right now. I guess I'm the only one who doesn't enjoy the moment.
