Chapter 7: Silly Girl

After Hailey examined the surroundings thoroughly with her eyes, she proceeded to take a seat next to me. Her entire body was moving in time to the pounding rhythm of the loud tune. Even though she was sitting, she subtly lifted one of her hands and moved her body as if she were dancing in order to seduce some of the men who were nearby. I couldn't help but jerk my head.

This girl is completely nuts, as she approaches this situation with a free mentality. It was apparent that she really wanted to forget about her problems, even for a bit.

What a silly girl.

She started ordering drinks from the bartender, who seemed to have recently seen women with faces like ours. A woman who comes to the bar without a man with her tonight for the first time. The way he looked at us was very creepy.

Take notice of this: we weren't disclosing too much skin and about the clothes that we were wearing, we are perfectly wrapped. But the way that he peered at us, everyone would have thought that we didn't even have any material covering our bodies. It's not like I'm trying to be chaste, killjoy or anything; I'm just getting annoyed by the way he's staring at us.

"Hello there, what kind of drink is your order, beautiful ladies?"

Although Hailey responded with laughter to his query, I found myself having the complete opposite reaction to her. I couldn't stop staring intently at the bartender as if, any second now, I was going to launch a physical attack on him.

"Hi there," Hailey replied in the most seductive voice as if she were flirting with him.

She makes a start at pronouncing the name of the alcoholic beverage that is her go-to order. After shaking my head once more, I observed the area with my eyes as I continued to be at a loss for words. It doesn't matter to me what Hailey is drinking at this point; whatever she chooses to consume is fine with me. I have already made it extremely apparent to her that I would not drink even a single shot, so there is no reason for her to attempt to coerce me into doing so. After some time, she came around and agreed to my way of thinking.

"Alright, Cathy. You don't have to tell me again." she rolled her eyes.

"I'm repeating this because you might force me later to have a drink when you've already drunk. I know you, Hailey. You are a bit naughty when you have alcohol in your body." I replied that my eyes also rolled toward her.

"Fine. I promised I wouldn't force you to have a drink." she raised one of her palms toward me.

The music in the place was loud enough to make me deaf to other noises. It also gives me periodic headaches. I feel like I just want to request that it be turned off. There was a time when I was able to keep up with Hailey's wishes, but now I don't know why I'm not in the mood to sympathize with her. Maybe it's because I don't think about any other problems. Perhaps that depends on what's going on in my life. Right, because one time, I also chose to get drunk, and the reason behind it was that I had a small fight with my boyfriend. It was just a tiny misunderstanding, but the effect on me was severe.

How about Hailey and Brent's fight? It looks serious now.

"Thank you!"

I turned to Hailey when I heard her voice thanking the bartender for her order. I took a deep breath when I saw her take a single gulp of the liquor from the shot glass.

What the heck is wrong with her? Does she want to get drunk right away?

When she ingests yet another serving of what appears to be water to her, I shift my gaze away from her once more. Simply observing what she was doing made me incredibly furious. And despite the fact that I haven't had anything to drink at all, unlike her, and that we haven't been here for very long, I have the need to ask her to leave right now. Something that I knew would make Hailey mad at me if I tried to tell her this.

"Hey, won't you join me for a drink, Cathy?" she asked as she turned to me while sipping on her drink. This time, it is a different kind of ladies' drink. Is this what I was talking about earlier, as she looks drunk now. "You can try this one. It is not intoxicating even a bit."

"No, thanks," I replied firmly.

"All right, just as I promised you earlier, I won't compel you to do anything if you don't truly want to. I am a woman who embodies a single word."

I didn't make any comments. After requesting a regular glass of juice from the bartender, I merely looked around the area to occupy my time and keep myself entertained. When I do this, I don't think I'll even notice how much time has passed until it's too late. When I turned around to look at Hailey again, she already had a few shots. Her whole face was red.

"Hailey? Are you already feeling drunk now? Can we go home now?"

I'm just trying my luck. She might agree. There's nothing wrong with trying isn't it?

She grinned at me when she heard my question. She shook her head several times as her eyes growled.

"No, the alcohol hasn't hit my body yet." this response is valid for me.

The only thing that annoyed me was what she added.

"And it's too early to go home right away. Don't rush to go home as if you are already drunk. Remember, you're not drinking with me to make me feel better. Just be with me. I'm not even enjoying the night yet. It's a no. Let's stay here for a little longer."

In what she said, my feelings were slightly distorted. It's like she's saying that I'm not a good friend. I can't keep up with her drinking.

"Hailey—"

"Just be with me tonight, Cathy. That's all I ask of you. Give this night to me as a friend, please."
