06 I wouldn't be sleeping in the cell Tonight

Willow.

His scent filled my senses. The emotions were overwhelming. I had loved him in my past life, and I still did. I was never able to have him, and it hurt like hell.

I removed the sheets from the bed, and he turned to look at what I was doing.

"What do you want to do?" He asked, concerned.

"I have to wash it. It has been stained." I said, and he was silent.

"Is there anything you want to wash?" I asked him, and he shook his head. I piled up the dirty clothes and cleaned up the room. I made sure I stayed away from the dresser and vanity table. He remained in the room until I finished cleaning. When I was about to leave, he stopped me.

"Were you seeing someone before you came here?" he asked me, and I shook my head because I knew I could be honest about that.

"It has always been my mother and me. We often rendered herbal treatment services to people, but it had always been us. Our lifestyle did not allow me to date," I said, and he nodded.

"Hopefully, you find this place comfortable," he said, and I left the room.

I went about the regular business for the day.

Leeana and I went to work in the garden in the evening. The moment we got to the garden, Luis called out to me. I walked to where they were with my head bowed.

"When are you off duty?" Luis asked me, and I was about to speak when Christopher interrupted.

"She is new, so she won't be going off," he said, and I did not look at him.

"That is unfair, alpha. All of them have days they go off. I want to take her out," Luis said boldly, and Christopher did not say anything.

"How about this evening? I will speak with Ingrid to give you free time." Luis said, and I thanked him.

"I will send you something to wear." He added, and I thanked him and walked away. I wasn't interested in the guy, but It will be nice to have a friend. Everyone seemed to like him, so i figured he was a nice guy.

"Christopher is mad, Willow," Raya said, and I ignored her.

An hour passed, and we were still working in the garden when the bell was rung. It had begun. This was the time they mentioned the stolen necklace. I was the one that cleaned Luna's room, so I would be the highest suspect, but I knew Luna Aida wouldn't let them search my room until after her fictitious miscarriage. It helps the effect.

Leeana and I went to the summoning hall. Aida was on stage crying while Christopher held her. Mark stood, and Ingrid addressed us.

"Luna Aida's Royal Pendant has been stolen. Please, if you are the culprit, kindly return it. This precious family heirloom was passed down to Luna by her late mother, Queen Mary. I am pleading with you to kindly return this item. Do not pawn or sell it. It would break our luna's heart. She is currently with child and should not be going through stress," Ingrid said, and Christopher looked surprised; he did not know.

"As a midwife, I discovered this an hour ago after she fainted from the shock of losing the pendant. Please and please, return the item. You will be given a day to do this. The time is so you can retrieve it if you have passed it to someone else. After the grace is over, we will decide what to do." Ingrid said sternly, and people began to murmur.

"It was the new girl that fixed her room today," One of the workers growled.

"Do not point fingers, Luan," Ingrid warned the worker. Anyone would think she was coming to my defence, but I knew better now. She was just setting me up. I could not wait to see her face when her plan failed. I could feel my insides doing somersaults at the thought of what would happen to her.

We were asked to retire early that day. Luis sent me clothes for our outing, and I gladly followed him.

We went to a restaurant in town, and he treated me nicely. I noticed that throughout our time outside, Christopher was calling him. The calls had nothing to do with me, but they made it impossible to enjoy the outing. The outing ended, and we returned home.

A DAY LATER.

The pendant was still yet to be returned, and Aida had a miscarriage in the morning and Ingrid, who claimed to be a midwife, confirmed it. People wept that afternoon, and everyone was angry. Aida and Christopher had been married for three years without conceiving, so this was a big deal.

I went about my routine chores when Leeana linked me that they were searching rooms and people were calling me to come so my room could be searched. I rushed to the servant quarters, and everyone was there. Alpha Christopher, Beta Mark and Gamma Luis were present. Gamma Luis walked to me as a friend.

"Sorry, we have to do this, Willow, but we need to find the necklace. The trauma of the theft has already cost the luna's pregnancy, and it is an important heirloom. If you had not been in her room, this would be unnecessary. I have pleaded with them to do this privately, but the Luna insists. Please," Luis said gently, and I did not bother to look at anyone. The workers were looking at me scornfully.

"No one had ever stolen before. She has to have done it." Someone said. I did not care, but I had to pretend. I was a bit nervous even though I knew it wasn't in my room. The fact that a crowd was at my door made me nervous.

"Please, if nothing is found in my room, it is only befitting that all the workers that came in contact with that room be searched, or I will see it as partial and malicious because I am an outsider," I said with tears in my eyes.

Luis hugged me, and I knew why. It was highly embarrassing. They will have to search through my belongings. He kissed the top of my head to calm me down.

"Before we start, I need to ask you if anyone else was in the room with you, Willow," Gamma Luis asked, and I shook my head.

"I was alone in the room," I said, and people began complaining.

I did not look at Christopher. There was no point insulting the alpha by involving his name in a theft.

Someone shouted at me, and Christopher shut her up immediately. I could feel his anger towards the person. I entered the room, and Ingrid told me to strip my clothes.

"Is that necessary?" Christopher asked angrily.

"Why should she strip?" He asked Ingrid, and she bowed her head.

"Alpha, we need to be sure she isn't carrying the necklace on her person. It is for good measure. Besides, wolves should not have any problem with being naked," She said, and I started taking off my clothes.

"Ingrid, search her in the bathroom," Christopher said, ensuring only Ingrid would see my nakedness. I thanked him and went to the bathroom. Ingrid was unhappy, but she followed me to the bathroom and opened the door. Some people entered along with the alpha, beta and gamma. They could not see me, but they could see her. I took off my clothes, tied a towel and stepped out of the bathroom.

"Did you find anything on her?" Christopher asked, and she shook her head. She wasn't expecting to find anything on me. She just wanted to humiliate me.

The guards started to search through my things. They checked my wardrobe, scattered my work clothes and underwear on the floor, and stripped my bed. They checked under my bed and then lifted the mattress. Ingrid reached for the blue cloth that was supposed to contain the neckless and took it out with a smile. She did not open it under the bed. She took it out so that the people gathered could see it, and then she opened it, but to her disappointment, it was empty. I wanted to laugh but held my peace. I left the cloth there for that very purpose. She looked at me with shock, and I maintained a look of fear on my face.

"There is nothing in this room," Christopher said, annoyed at Ingrid.

"Maybe she hid it somewhere else or sold it," Ingrid said, and Christopher got angry.

"Enough, Ingrid. Three people have access to my room: You, Jenifer and Willow. Willow has only been there once and has gone out just once, in the gamma's company. Unless you want to say gamma Luis helped her to hide the item," Christopher insinuated, and she shook her head out of fear.

"Let's search the other two rooms. It is only fair, alpha," One of the servants said, and Christopher agreed. I was so happy. Still tying my towel, I followed. Jenifer's room was searched, and they found nothing. Then they went to Ingrid's room. She was confident they wouldn't find anything. Unfortunately, a guard brought out the pendant from where it was hidden. People gasped with shock.

"It is a set-up!" Ingrid cried, but no one listened.

The guard sniffed it.

"It only has your scent and the luna's scent," the guard said, and people began to murmur.

"Arrest her," Christopher said, and the crowd dispersed. I went to my room and closed the door. I let tears of relief flow down my cheeks. Even though I knew the necklace wasn't in my room. I was still worried and shaken. I quietly placed the mattress on the bed and lay on it. My room was a mess, but I was glad I wouldn't be sleeping in a cell like I did in my past life.
