I was right, I got little sleep last night. No, let me correct myself. I didn't sleep more than a few minutes at a time when I dozed off while sitting on a barstool leaning over my kitchen counter. I'm back at my house a little while later. I was cautious when I entered. Turned the key, poked my head inside to make sure I didn't hear any footsteps, and then locked the door behind me.I guess Vickie spread the word around the block because as soon as I drove my car onto the street; I had eyes on me. It had been almost a week since I moved here, three days, since I had gone over to Anna's parent's house to eat tacos. She and I have grown a bit close the last few days. She works as a secretary for some rich man.I can't remember his name right currently, but her hours are sometimes long. I have been trying to get my sleep schedule straight before I start my new job, which is tomorrow morning. I'm excited and I'm nervous. Anna and I talk on the phone every night for about an hour. The past two days went by slowly. I woke up, fixed me breakfast, and packed a lunch because I learned that I was unable to leave the building for lunchtime. We only had five 911 operators, and Mr. Whitlock wanted to make sure we were all available to deal with the phones if they rang. We have been sitting in silence for several minutes. His truck smells like him, musk, and leather.
