Chapter 5

When Amelia woke up the following morning, it was close to dawn. She was actually shocked that she has slept so well. She thought she would have trouble falling asleep.

Before she fell asleep, she seemed to feel a magnificent presence in the room and after it left, it was only then did she fall asleep completely. She woke up and went to the bathroom, her head still feeling light from the sleep although the pain had stopped a lot.

When she came back, she switched on the lights and the huge bouquet of blue roses caught her eyes.

‘Wow, aren’t they a little too beautiful? Amelia thought as she walked over. Although they had stayed the whole night there, they seemed to be full of life as they glistened under the lights.

‘Who would bring me flowers? Not a lot of people knew that I was in the hospital, could it be that…?’ Amelia thought as she walked over to the small cabinet, a small spark of hope in her heart.

She picked up the flowers and sniffed them, they were still smelling just as nice as she had thought, maybe they are the ones who made her sleep so well. She saw a golden platted business card on the cabinet beside the flowers and a written note.

She took he note first but before she could even read it, her heart was filled with disappointment. It was not Oliver’s handwriting. The spark of hope that had grown in her heart disappeared without a trace.

She sat on the bed and was not even in the mood to read the note. What could make her think that he would come to visit, if nothing, maybe he wanted her dead. He must be filled with hatred towards her and could not wait to squash her, right?

She sat on the bed in a daze. She remembered his cold eyes in the meeting room yesterday and her body shivered.

‘I don’t mind as long as it is not her.’ he had said coldly when Anthony had tried to smooth things over. Even after hearing her say that Logan had stolen her proposal, he had acted as if he did not give a damn.

She looked at the note in her hands. Her eyes caught the two initials an the end of the note and she looked at them with curiosity.

“AD.” she read the initials out loud.

“Who is AD?” she picked up the gold platted business card and her face turned pale while her eyes were stunned by the words written on it.

‘Stars Entertainment CEO.’ the words that were plastered on the card were like a huge bomb that went off in her mind. She had been once in the entertainment industry so, she was familiar with this name.

It was the biggest entertainment industry in the country. You could say that it was the backbone of their entertainment industry. The fall of it could mean two-third of the entertainment industry had fallen.

‘What was the business card of the entertainment industry big boss doing in her ward? And the initials on the note, could it be, Axel Dawson.’ the moment the name appeared in her mind, Amelia was shocked that she immediately threw the business card and the note away.

She took big gulps of air to calm her pounding heart down.

‘What was going on? Could it be that the boss Peter was talking about was…’ Amelia did not want to think about it.

But if not, how could these things have appeared in her ward. It did not make any sense. Although she had been a model once, she heard of the name Axel more than she had heard the names of the famous celebrities.

She was dead for sure. Although Axel was the big boss of the entertainment industry, not a lot of people knew how he looked like. He was so mysterious that there was not a single scandal about him. Only his name sent shivers down someone’s spine.

Some rumors even had it that he had fiery red eyes and horns, just like the devil. Jesus, could her life not get any worse. Not only had she lost her job, but she had even offended the big devil himself. Did she still have a chance to redeem herself or should she seek a quick death by throwing herself of the window?

Amelia’s mind was in turmoil that she even forgot about reading the note. She did not care about what it said as she thought that she was done for.

She stood up from the bed and walked towards the window like her soul had already left her body. Her eyes did not have any life in them. They looked dull and a kin to a robot.

Amelia drew the curtains and looked down from the window. If her guess was correct, she was on the third floor. She did not know if she will die from the fall. But even if she did not die, she will be injured and she will not be held responsible for anything.

With one step closer, she felt that she could not breath. The pain in her head had been forgotten a long time ago as she was engulfed by a dreadful feeling.

Axel did not know why but when he left the house in the morning, he had the sudden urge to visit the hospital. He did not know if the little woman had slept well and whether she was already awake. He just wanted to take a look at her but he did not expect to be met with such a scene.

A petite figure was standing close to the window, trembling lightly. In fact, one foot was already dangling outside the window in a dangerous position. He did not know why but his heart skipped a beat as he rushed over.

‘What was this silly woman doing so early in the morning? doesn’t she know that she can fall through the window? Axel thought as he rushed over without hesitation.

“What are you doing?” his cool voice was heard. It startled Amelia so much that she felt her body sway. She closed her eyes and expected to land on the hard ground but her hand was held in a strong grip and she felt herself fall on a sturdy chest.

She fell head on so her nose felt like it had been broken. It was so painful that her eyes welled up with tears as she closed them out of reflex.

“What are doing at the edge of the window? Do you want to die?” the cool voice was heard. The owner of the voice seemed to be suppressing the anger in his chest, making his voice sound even more deep.

“yes, I want to die!” Amelia said. She was still being held by the strong arms and her eyes remained closed.

“What?” Axel asked, shocked. He has never heard anyone admit that they want to die.

“I don’t want to live anymore. They are all bullying me. Even the devil personally sent me flowers, wasn’t he telling me to disappear? It is not my fault that I was born, why is everyone bullying me? Why couldn’t they believe me just like they believe her?” Amelia could not hold back the grief in her heart as she broke into hurtful sobs.

The man who was hugging her was stumped and he had an indescribable expression on his face.

He did not have any idea what to do so he remained standing stiff with the woman in his arms. He just let her cry her heart out, not saying anything.

“I just want to end all of this, is that such a big request to ask? I am tired of suffering, I am tired of being looked down upon, I am tired of being suppressed! I want to die, turn into a ghost and haunt all of them until they have nowhere to hide.”

“No.” the man could not stand it when he heard her say that she wanted to die.

“Why? Even hell doesn’t want me?” Amelia had already lost her mind so she did not know what she was mumbling. She just wanted to vent her emotions because they were suffocating her.

“I won’t permit you to die just yet. You still have a lot to accomplish.” the man said. His voice held no warmth and his eyes were still. No one could tell what was running through his mind.
