Chapter 2

This morning at Villa Winston.

 "Good morning!"

Because she was no stranger to that voice, Gennifer suddenly ran over and opened the door.  “Marvin my husband?  How come you can go home?”  asked Gennifer in disbelief.  She was in complete shock.

For the past year Gennifer has been a loyal member of the Winston Family and has been waiting for Marvin to arrive.  Only Gennifer always visited him every weekend.

Meanwhile, his father-in-law and Russell, since he first entered the prison, have never once come to ask how they are doing.  For them, Marvin's mistake was fatal and Marvin would never succeed anywhere in the future.

Even though for the past year her family has insisted that she separate from Marvin immediately, Gennifer doesn't want to comply, the reason being that Gennifer loves him too much and she believes that one day Marvin will surely succeed.

"Come in!"  asked Gennifer while printing a smile even though his eyes were still wondering by themselves.

Marvin came too early, the four people inside were still intact and had not yet gone to work.  "I want to know about your family," Marvin said impatiently.  However, Marvin still respected them.

Seeing the sudden arrival of his son-in-law, Derick Winston was taken aback and his eyes widened, “Marvin?  You escaped from prison?  How could that be?"

Marvin was asked to sit down, but in the living room, not the living room.  “Father, I am not proven guilty.  The results of my invention proved to be a fuel that is allowed by the state.  I should never have gone to jail."

Even though Derick used to really approve of their marriage relationship, because the stamp of being an ex-convict entered his family's body, Derick was reluctant to see Marvin's face.  "You terrorist!"  he frowned.

Marvin tried to calm down.  He shrugged his shoulders and replied, “I'm not a terrorist, Father.  All accusations are untrue.  Please check it yourself in court.”  Marvin kept on convincing his father-in-law that he was in the right position.

Elena, Gennifer's mother, was shocked when she saw Marvin coming.  Even though she used to really like Marvin, since Marvin was in prison, Elena was very disgusted to see this sinful daughter-in-law.  "I don't want any dirty men in this villa!"  she grumbled.

Derick and Elena looked contemptuously at Marvin.  To them, Marvin was still a dirty ex-con who didn't deserve to be in the Winston household.  It was because of Marvin that the good name of the Winston Family was tarnished.

Derick, who was in his 60s, looked at her suspiciously and said sarcastically, "We used to hope that you would be a hero in our family, but you actually caused trouble and damaged the image of our family and business."

Elena gave a sharp, piercing glance from the side, then said scathingly, “You look like an unreliable son-in-law, Marvin!  We regret having accepted your presence.  You should never have married Gennifer!”

Derick grinned and said loudly, “You better divorce your wife right now!  We don't want our business to fall apart like the Rock Family's."  Then Derick raised his head while crossing his arms over his chest, giving the impression that it was his words that were being listened to the most.

Marvin felt like he was getting an electric shock.  Instead of getting a good reception, he was showered with all kinds of insults and curses.  However, Marvin remained calm and squared his shoulders.  He wasn't the least bit intimidated.

He tried to defend himself, “Give me a chance to improve myself. I believe, as we hoped a year ago, that the Rock Family and the Winston Family will be able to rise together through adversity."

Derick quickly cut in, “What?! False hope! We regret that we believed in you that you could become the god of war between the two families! Rather, you are a disaster! I don't care about your family business, Marvin, but look at our family!”

For a whole year the Winston Family has been scrambling to find all kinds of ways to survive their business. They not only lack funds, but also resources. If they don't improve in the near future, their oil business could suffer a total loss.

Derick puffed out his chest and said firmly, “You can't be relied on, Marvin! The Rocks are struggling too. Meanwhile, your status as an ex-convict will obviously complicate all business paths. We don't believe you!” Then Derick looked away and furrowed his brows. He grew sick of looking at Marvin.

But Gennifer didn't budge. She turned around and looked at his father, then said, “You must remember all of Marvin's accomplishments and accomplishments. She is sure to be welcome wherever she applies for work. Did dad forget?”

Derrick flinched. “What are you talking about, Gennifer? How dare you warn father like that!” Derick grinned again and said, “That was before he was a prisoner, before he was considered a terrorist. Now, who would take it? Who wants to employ terrorists?” asked Derick starting to go crazy.

Elena chimed in. She said viciously, “Marvin! You hear me! You are a disgraceful son-in-law! Never dream of becoming a successful man and a hero in the Winston Family!” she whispered while narrowing her eyes.

Since being named a suspect, Marvin's name has been crossed out from the Winston Family list, only his status as Gennifer's husband is still there. In the past year, Gennifer has been very patient with her family's scathing comments.

Yes, he was constantly forced to immediately file for divorce from Marvin. However, his sincerity and loyalty surpasses all. In fact, he was willing to be cursed at and humiliated by his own parents in order to maintain the integrity of their household relationship.

Gennifer looked sternly at her mother, “Don't forget Mom, you used to brag about Marvin in front of many people, on social media, and everywhere. To Mother, Marvin was the ideal son-in-law, who was handsome, genius, and something to be proud of. I don't think you can forget it."

Elena was quite shaken. “Gennifer my daughter, you must never be insolent with your own mother. Yes, I admit it, but that was before, when he was not yet a convict. Now, he is nothing to be proud of.” Elena's lips twitched in disgust as she rolled her black eyes very lazily.

Marvin was further cornered. The current situation and the situation before the marriage has drastically changed one hundred and eighty degrees. If before he was always flattered, now so dumped. Now, he is looked down upon.

It wasn't until Marvin was about to speak up and return to defend himself, when suddenly Russel screamed from the stairs, “Wow! My embarrassing brtheri-in-law has finally come!” Russell clapped for a long time.

Russel smiled mockingly and said in a sarcastic tone, “Did you use that MR-25 of your invention to blow up the prison to escape ha? Very scary terrorist. Don't stay here too long, Marvin, I don't want our magnificent villa to be in vain because of your crime!”
