Chapter 5

Gennifer shuddered.  “Marvin, you are so heartless!  Don't you love me anymore?"  Gennifer's eyes were red and wanted to cry.

Derick stood and put his hands on his hips.  He looked at his son-in-law and said, “You're out of your mind, Marvin.  One whole year your wife took care of you, fed you every week, always loyal to you, but now you have hurt her heart.

Elena didn't budge.  She fixed his gaze on Marvin's face and said loudly, “Dude!  You say that, it means you really want a divorce from Gennifer."  Actually they don't care, but they don't want their daughter to be embarrassed because of that stupid son-in-law.

What Marvin had bet on sounded crazy.  If the Winstons had been teetering on lobbying to keep their business afloat for so many months, how was it that a man who had just gotten out of prison was able to ship so much crude oil?

They unanimously judged that Marvin had been distracted by his brain.  If someone like Raymond took a week to process everything, and even then it's not certain, this is Marvin ridiculously saying that.  Was Marvin rambling unconsciously?

Marvin stared hard at Raymond's face.  "Are you afraid?"  he asked coldly.

Hearing that, Raymond gaped.  "Ha?  You think I'm scared?  By talking like that, you have insulted my great name, you idiot!  You are so insolent!”

Marvin defended himself.  He's not a coward.  "You're the one who was impudent first.  You've torn my pride by making me lick the soles of your shoes."

Raymond reached for the red rose he had brought which had been lying on the table.  He gave it directly to Gennifer.  His behavior was clearly witnessed by Marvin.

Raymond squatted down in front of Gennifer and said tenderly, “I can't wait for tomorrow, Gennifer.  Before you are legally divorced from your embarrassing husband, I will express my love for you, in front of your own husband.”  Raymond threw a sweet and warm smile.

Gennifer's heart shook even more.  There were too many feelings clumping in his chest: restlessness, worry, fear, anxiety, hope, love for Marvin, and disgust at the sight of Raymond.

Her lips twitched in annoyance when he received such treatment from Raymond.  Any woman likes roses, but at a time like this, Gennifer felt like throwing up even though the man who gave her was the son of the richest man in a country.

Marvin snorted angrily.  “Don't accept those cheap hundred dollar flowers, my wife!  Tomorrow I will give you the Gloriest Flower!”

 What?  Gloriest Flower?

The Gloriest Flower exists only in the city of Gloriston and grows every autumn.  When all the flowers fall, only the Gloriest Flower will live and grow.  This very beautiful flower will last for ten years without water.  It smells better than any flower.

Russell was stunned.  "Did you know the cheapest price is ten thousand dollars?"  he asked, frowning.

Then Marvin smiled faintly and replied, "I'll buy it for my wife, the most expensive, five hundred thousand dollars."  Then he put his arm around his wife and immediately told Raymond to stop his madness.  "Sit where you are!"  he ordered.

So surprised by her daughter-in-law's attitude, Elena covered her mouth with her palm.  His eyes were round like donuts.  During her time as a rich person, Elena never had that flower.

The Gloriest Flowers were too extravagant and only one would grow each year.

Derrick shook his head in disbelief. The original son-in-law was exaggerating. He thought Marvin would make a difference after leaving prison, apparently he missed.

What a disappointment.

Marvin stood up, took out his wallet, and took out a hundred dollar bill. "Take this money and immediately throw the flower in the trash!"

Not accepting it, Raymond snapped angrily, “You've embarrassed Harvard's son. I will never forget how you treated me!”

Marvin sat back down, then replied casually, “You're too much too. I can't accept you giving my wife a hundred dollar cheap flowers. Have you insulted the Winston Family?” he asked.

Raymond turned to Russel and said, “Your brother-in-law is getting worse, Russel! If it's not taken care of soon, I'm pretty sure the Winston Family will slowly decline."

How could Marvin be so bold about speaking out loud?

When he was at school, Marvin not only studied in the laboratory and library, but he was used to living hard. He was also often appointed as class president and became a student who had an important role on various occasions.

He was very active in organizations. He was used to heavy discussions and debates. In addition, he often talks with big people, both businessmen and professionals in honing his speaking skills.

And most recently while in prison, Marvin learned quite a lot of valuable lessons, there his mentality was really forged. Coward and then bullied, or fighting continues to be safe? Marvin chose to fight, and at the very least he would argue with the other prisoners.

Marvin watched his two father-in-laws and said firmly, “If I told you now who Raymond really was and what his interests were now, neither of you would believe me. But, later you will definitely know. I will prove it."

Russell chuckled angrily. “That's enough, Marvin. Stop now all your nonsense! If you brag too much, our amusement will be severed before long.”

There was a warm pat on Russell's shoulder from Raymond, then a hug. “Your brother-in-law is so suspicious of us both, Russell. Is there something wrong with his heart?”

Russel sighed in annoyance and said, “I have no more to say. Tomorrow he will leave soon as well. Now, I'm going to work." Russell leaves.

Marvin watched them. “Remember the bet you two made! Russel, you still have a long way to go, three months to go, so there's plenty of time to think. And you Raymond, you only have one day and one night, if you change your mind, please apologize to me and my wife now.”

Raymond is apathetic. He didn't turn around.

“Harvard son, you coward!” sneered Marvin.

Raymond stopped and turned around. "Okay! We deal! I hope you buy a mask soon to cover your embarrassed face!” he snorted viciously.

"We'll see who gets embarrassed!" Marvin cheered confidently.

The father-in-law immediately sent his wife into the kitchen to watch over the maids. "I'm going to work. Let this pair of human children enjoy their last days.” Derick and his wife looked away from Marvin's gaze. They didn't believe in a bit what Marvin said.

Only Marvin and Gennifer were left in the living room. Gennifer then cried, shedding her sad feelings. “You're so mean to me, Marvin. I think you will repay my kindness and loyalty while you are in prison.” Her face flushed. There was resentment welling up, but the love was too great.

Marvin hugged his wife very tightly. “In fact, I really love you, Gennifer, my wife. I don't want you to be played by them. I have to teach them a lesson,” Marvin exclaimed heartily. “Trust me, the Rock Family and the Winston Family will definitely rise! ”
