Chapter 12

Five minutes, still no connection.

Raymond stood and put his hands on his hips. “Who did you contact, idiot?! You're pretending to be the buyer of those expensive flowers, huh?!” Raymond said with a face that immediately changed one hundred and eighty degrees, from anxious to happy.

All eyes were on Marvin.

Credit is there, quota is there, signal is good.

Marvin pulled himself together. “It's already evening. The shop must be closed and the phone is off.”

Russel quickly attacked. "Reason! You are a liar, shameful Brother-in-law! I already thought that someone sent the wrong flowers. There are hundreds of Gennifer names in Gloriston. It could be the wrong address." Russell started energetic again.

Raymond gave him a contemptuous look. “And you want to buy Red Diamond for your wife? Dream! You are an ex-con who has a hobby of hallucinating. You should go to the library often and read lots of self-development books, Rocky!" Raymond was very excited to let out a sadistic sneer.

Gennifer grew increasingly restless. She sat Marvin back down. “Marvin, I told you, never mess around. I don't want you to be found guilty again, especially because of something trivial."

Derick and Elena were stunned. It was clear they would not defend such a shameful son-in-law. Even if they add insults to Marvin, it's useless, it's better for them to listen with an amused smile. Now, the anxiety in their hearts is gone. They preferred Marvin to be humiliated, the reason was because it was safer, if Raymond was to be embarrassed, it was clear that the Winston Family would be threatened.

Marvin remained calm. “I swear in the name of God that I was the one who ordered those flowers for my wife!” he said firmly and clearly.

Russel sat back down and faced Marvin directly. “There's no need to swear over small change like this, Marvin. Just admit it, then go ahead and lick the soles of Raymond's shoes.”

Raymond didn't want to stall. “Forget about interest, because the real bet is crude oil for Winsoil. As is known, the person who sent it was The Oxy. Not you!” asked Raymond in a high, piercing tone. His eyes were getting more evil and the grin on his lips was so scary.

However, Marvin was undaunted. There was not the slightest fear from him for many reasons. He's right, and he's rich! What's there to be afraid of?

Before Marvin could answer, Axel suddenly interrupted. "I just opened the internet. Gloriston Flower Shop is closed. If you want to contact me, you can do it tomorrow morning at seven o'clock. Marvin, tell me the cellphone number you called earlier, does it match the number listed here?"

Marvin opened his cellphone again, then called out the numbers.

Axel smiled cheerfully. "Same phone number. Marvin, try showing them the call history.”

Marvin contacted the shop at a little past seven in the morning, and the flowers arrived around eight o'clock.

Axel almost laughed. "Marvin probably just forgot to explain. I'll give him water so he can refocus. OK, so far Marvin has proven not to be a liar. Please continue!” Axel leaned back casually again. Because he was used to heavy discussions on campus, he didn't feel tense at all.

Towards this evening, Marvin immediately called one of the directors of The Oxy. Unlike before, this time the phone connected directly.

"Mr Nicholas, sorry to interrupt, I just want to ensure that Winsoil's crude oil needs will be safe for the next month." Marvin deliberately made loudspeaker mode so everyone could hear.

"Mr. Rock, according to your own request, if there is anything you want to add, we will take care of it immediately."

“No need, Mister Nicholas. I will call back if there is a need. Thank You."

CLICK!

Russel stood up again and paced around. He knew that Nicholas was the Director of Sales and Marketing. The voice he heard just now couldn't be a hoax.

Raymond chuckled anxiously. His eyes were a little red because he was so worried. However, he still didn't believe it. “You could be playing tricks on us, Marvin!” his grumbling was a bit stuttering.

Marvin smiled faintly, then replied, “What kind of trick? Please contact Mr. Nicholas right now using your own cellphone number to prove it. There's no way you don't know him. Isn't The Oxy Harvard's toughest competitor?”

It's such a difficult thing to accept. Why not, for a long time Harvard has always prohibited Winsoil and other companies from receiving supplies of raw materials from The Oxy, whatever they are. Surprisingly, Harvard will place limits when they provide supplies. It's funny indeed.

When companies refuse, they will be sanctioned by the government. Collaborations between Harvard and the government are very compatible and certainly make things difficult for many companies. Therefore, Marvin must act decisively to end all these strange regulations and restrictions.

Suddenly, Roderick screamed from some distance near the stairs, “Marvin, how much are you paying them? And how did you get permission from the government so quickly?” he asked in a tone full of curiosity.

Not only Roderick, everyone was curious, especially Raymond. Hadn't his father told the government to always supervise the distribution of raw materials both within and outside the country?

Marvin raised his voice, “My words just now you all couldn't believe. So how is it possible if I explain at length again, then you can believe it?” Marvin then let out a hesitant breath.

Suddenly, all eyes were fixed on Raymond's figure. Even though it was very difficult to accept the fact that Marvin had a hand in the shipment of crude oil, they also couldn't deny the fact from the telephone conversation just now.

Marvin stood up, put his right foot on the table again, then said firmly, “Raymond, Harvard's son, just one lick, then you can get out of here. I guarantee, this big secret we will guard very well. You don't need to worry!” He folded his arms across his chest as he continued to stare at her.

Excited!

There was silence for a moment.

Raymond broke into a cold sweat and his face turned even paler. From the bottom of his heart, of course he would never lick the soles of anyone's shoes, let alone the soles of a Marvin's.

Because it was taking too long, Marvin finally made a new offer to Raymond. "Okay, if you haven't brushed your teeth this afternoon. You don't need to be embarrassed to say it. If you are not willing to lick the soles of my shoes, from now on you will never disturb my household again. Okay? You don't ever bother my wife again and you don't have to send any other cheap gifts!”

Hearing that, Raymond growled, but was very embarrassed. “Bastard!” he said, then he left without saying goodbye to the owner of the house. Raymond went very long and didn't care about anything.

Marvin watched all the members of the Winston Family one by one while embracing his wife, "Tonight I will take my wife to my house because she is my right and mine. There's nothing to explain, and tomorrow, she'll be wearing the Red Diamond necklace!”
