CHAPTER ONE

Life has never been fair to me. Not when I was little and lost my mother.

But I found solace in the warmth of Leo, my one true love whom I will choose as my mate.

My mother comes from a line of were-witches. Their hybrid blood gave them more power over other packs. They were feared and no one dared to go to war with them. Mr Sam Williams, my father, was a man with great ambition.

He saw my mother as a tool to help him win the Alpha Election Ceremony.

The Alpha Election Ceremony was carried out every fifteen years to elect a new Alpha. The strongest person with the highest number of support from other packs is eventually picked. Knowing she was a hybrid and the powerful family she came from, he begged her to step down from the competition.

My mothers family thought the same was happening to me, except that I had willingly told my lover, Leo Sancreed, to become Alpha. After which he would then announce me as his mate.

"Dennis, I promise to love you for the rest of my life. Tomorrow, come dressed up. We both know you will be my mate." Leo says, the admiration and love evident in his eyes.

I hugged him tightly, burying my small face in his shirt that smelled of sandal wood. "I love you Leo."

Leo patted my back like he always does and nuzzled his chin in my hair. "I love you too."

Having told my mother's family to support Leo so he could become Alpha, I had no worries in my mind. Of course, my maternal relatives weren't happy with the decision but I didn't care. I dressed up and headed to the venue of the Mating Ceremony.

Leo is a man of virtue. My childhood lover. The man that makes my heart flutter and brings sun rays into all dull moments. There was no doubt in my mind that he felt the same way.

But when I approached the venue and heard screams coming from her maternal relatives' side, my feets hurried into the field and what my eyes saw was a scene so grotesque, it made me throw up.

Wiping the corners of my mouth, I stared at Leo who was standing on the podium with Sunny, my evil step sister in his arms.

His gaze immediately met mine but he smirked and said. "Here comes another one of them. Destroy every last member of the Gamdona family. Burn them alive for they are an abomination our society will never accept."

I watched in horror as they burned the members of my maternal relatives. Their screams from the fiery fire, loud enough to pierce through my heart. I tried to run forward but was grapped by my personal worker, Gina.

"Don't be hasty. You will burn."

"Henceforth, I Leo Sancreed reject Dennis Williams as my mate. She is useless and is not fit to be my Luna."

If I thought her whole world had crumbled, I was joking because in that moment, I felt the connection that held us together, break. I had chosen Leo as my mate three years ago. It was unofficial and it wasn't a match made by the moon goddess. In our community, more and more wolves were starting to find it difficult to get a mate and so the mating ceremony was founded. Where two wolves could choose each other as mates so they could support and love each other. The one who feels the bigger love for the other will end up being the most heartbroken if the mate bond is broken.

Now that Leo had broken our mate bond, I found out my stupid self had been the only fool in love. I crashed to the floor and held my chest in pain. Every beautiful memory we had built came rushing to me, making the pain more unbearable.

Leo smiled when he saw my state and continued to announce. "And I hereby declare Sunny Williams to be my mate and Luna."

"Leo!" I screamed, unable to take the injustice. "How dare you!" I had given him everything. From stepping down from the Alpha Ceremony to the support of my family.

"Witch!" Leo shouted. "You there, burn her face with the traitor mark so that wherever she goes, she may be recognized as the abomination she is." He commands a particular witch they had gotten on their side.

I wiped my face and glared at him. "Why are you doing this to me?"

Leo scoffs and replies to my question. "I only chose to be with you for the Alpha's position anyways. Now that you have fulfilled your role, I have no need for you." My eyes bulged with surprise and I glanced at my father who was standing next to him. "Don't look so shocked. Your father knew everything from the start."

I don't believe it. Why would my biological father be involved in all this? I stared at him and she shook his head and he told me. "Don't blame me Dennis. Such signed, blood of your mothers family should never be walloped to continue."

"Yes sister," Sunny began in her annoying voice. "That I can stand here with Leo today is all that is to dad."

It still felt like a dream. I turned to Leo with a questioning gaze. "Is that true?"

He didn't hesitate to respond with a smile. "Of course."

The witch they had commanded said some spells from afar and I felt a strange air hit me to the bones. My soul felt empty and an indescribable pain took over my heart. I clutched my chest in pain and tears fell from my eyes knowing what they had done. They had killed my wolf the same way they were killing my maternal relatives' wolves.

Angry, I screamed and ran towards Leo with the intent to kill but I was stopped by the witch's power.

"Torture her till she dies." Sunny commanded. "After all, I am Luna now and I can give commands."

No one tried to speak up for me. Not even my own father. The witch began chanting a spell and I could feel my body get weaker. I fell to the ground, my hands clutching my chest as I began to feel as if my heart was being ripped out of me.

'This is unfair Moon goddess. Revenge. I will definitely take revenge…' was the last thing I thought before life finally slipped out of me.
