Chapter 3 Becoming His Sister

Although Gabriella and Henry had never publicized their marriage in the past three years, they were just like any ordinary couple.

Every morning, Gabriella would help Henry choose a suit and tie his tie. Then, they would leave for work together.

He would also keep her informed of his work schedules when he attended social events at night.

They made love, showered together at times, and would kissed each other good night every night.

Henry had never forgotten any of the special occasions, including their wedding anniversary, Valentine's Day, and her birthday.

He fulfilled all her requests. Be it romance or a sense of ceremony, he did it all.

He did everything a perfect husband should.

Gabriella thought her life of bliss would continue forever.

Unfortunately, Hannah was back.

Everything would have to come to an end.

The female voice she heard from the other end of the line yesterday had to have been Hannah's.

Gabriella wondered if they had gotten in touch a long time ago.

Had he been with Hannah last month? Did they fly home together yesterday?

As Gabriella pondered these thoughts, a wave of disappointment washed over her. Her heart stung so much that it felt like daggers were piercing it.

"Don't worry, Gabriella. Even if we get a divorce, you are still a part of my family. You're the sister that I care about the most."

Sister?

They shared a bed for three years, but in the end, she was going back to being his sister.

How could she accept that?

"We'll see then." Gabriella lowered her eyes as she laughed mockingly to herself.

While adjusting his collar, Henry asked, "Oh, by the way, what did you want to tell me just now?"

Gabriella casually flipped through the documents in her hands with a faint smile.

"Nothing much. The launch plan for the latest season's fashion range is out.

"There was something about the proposal plan for our next fashion launch I couldn't decide on my own, so I wanted to discuss it with you. But I have a solution now."

She no longer needed to tell him about her pregnancy.

"Alright. You've worked hard."

Gabriella was the brand director for Toussaint Holdings, and Henry had complete confidence in her capabilities.

She was born to be in this industry.

All the products she managed performed exceptionally well on the market, regardless of whether it was jewelry, clothing, games, or even electronics.

"I'm just doing my job. Anyway, I'll get to work now," Gabriella said calmly.

Then, she took a deep breath and turned around to leave. She tried her best to stay composed.

"Let's head out together." As soon as Henry finished speaking, he went upstairs to get changed.

Gabriella stopped in her tracks. Feeling bitter, a lump formed in her throat. Tears immediately pooled in her eyes.

How could he remain so calm after proposing they should get a divorce? He even suggested going to work together.

The answer was clear. He didn't love her.

"It's okay. We're getting a divorce anyway. Let's be careful. I don't want any rumors about our relationship to get out."

After saying that, Gabriella hurriedly walked off. She feared that she would break down in front of him at any given moment.

She could not let that happen.

Ever since that fateful night, Henry thought of her as sensible and obedient. That was why he agreed to marry her.

Gabriella silently apologized to her child. She was the only parent the child would have in their life.

Looking at her retreating figure, Henry frowned imperceptibly.

After reaching the garage and entering the car, Gabriella did not start the engine immediately.

Instead, she scrolled through Instagram and finally found a clue.

Henry and most of his friends did not like posting on Instagram, except for one or two.

Maverick Hemingway, for instance, was one of those exceptions.

Gabriella saw he had posted a picture last night. It featured a table of fine wines.

The caption read, "Welcome back, our pretty Hannah. It looks like Henry's big day will come soon!" It ended with a cheerful emoji.

The tagged location was the club where they usually gathered.

Once Gabriella saw that, a teardrop fell onto her phone screen.
