Chapter 8 You Are So Generous

Gabriella swallowed hard to suppress the lump of bitterness growing in her throat. "But Hannah's image doesn't match our theme."

When Hannah was abroad, her celebrity image was cool and sophisticated.

"That's your problem, not mine," Henry said.

"I know you'll definitely find a solution. This brand endorsement is extremely important to Hannah. You have to be fully involved in this project."

Gabriella did not know if she should feel happy or sad about what he said.

While he acknowledged her abilities, he also ruthlessly entrusted her, his lawfully wedded wife, with the responsibility of organizing everything for his first love.

She wanted to ask Henry if he truly thought she was immune to pain.

"Okay. I'll do my best," Gabriella forced the words out hoarsely.

Gabriella kept vomiting in the restroom. Her face was pale, and her eyes were slightly red.

She touched her belly and gently comforted her baby.

Gabriella tried to convince herself everything would be fine.

She just had to let Hannah be the brand ambassador and oversee Hannah's advertisement shoot, as well as the project.

There was nothing for her to worry about. She was good at her job.

These thoughts ran through Gabriella's mind as she splashed some cold water on her face.

Then, she looked at her reflection in the mirror and tried her hardest to smile.

She had once promised her father that she would keep going regardless of the daunting challenges that might arise.

She knew he was watching over her from above. She could not afford to let him or her baby down.

Upon returning to her office, Gabriella called Jodie and expressed her apology.

Gabriella offered a perfume brand endorsement to Emma and assured Jodie that Emma would be their top choice for any available opportunities.

It was only then that Jodie was appeased.

After ending the call, Gabriella asked Yvonne to send her Hannah's information. Then, she held a meeting with the employees in her department.

In the end, they settled on three proposed options.

Gabriella instructed Yvonne to make an appointment with Hannah's manager to discuss the brand endorsement.

Leaning back in her chair, Gabriella massaged her brows and looked wearily at the document beside her—the divorce agreement.

She skimmed through it.

Henry was indeed someone lavish with his spending.

Two villas, two luxury cars, and twenty million dollars. That was what he offered as his alimony to her.

"You're so generous, Mr. Henry," Gabriella muttered to herself with a bitter smile.

Later on, Gabriella went to the conference room.

Soon, the operations director, product manager, chief designer, and the rest of the relevant employees showed up as well.

However, Hannah and her team were nowhere to be seen.

"Give Hannah's manager a call," Gabriella said to Yvonne.

Before long, Yvonne came over and said, "They said they would be arriving soon, Ms. Carrington."

Several hours passed, and Hannah was not here yet.

The operations director and the rest of the team were starting to feel disgruntled.

"Give me her manager's number," Gabriella said irritably.

Just as Yvonne was about to say something, a group of people entered the conference room.

One of the employees hurried over. "Hello, Ms. Bennett. Why are you here too, Mr. Henry?"

Hannah was wearing a long yellow dress and holding Henry's arm intimately.

Meanwhile, Henry was dressed in the suit Gabriella had chosen for him this morning.

When the rest of the people saw how intimate Hannah and Henry were, they exchanged knowing glances with one another.

It seemed like the rumor was true. Hannah was indeed Henry's first love!

They were such a great match!

With her heart twinging painfully, Gabriella tightened her fists as she approached them with a calm expression.

"Mr. Henry, Ms. Bennett, since you're here now, let's start the meeting."

Henry told Gabriella he would still see her as his sister after their divorce.

However, Gabriella knew that those who had genuinely loved each other before could never simply become friends again.

Gabriella could not stand seeing him being lovey-dovey with Hannah.

Hence, once she divorced him, she would stay far away from him.

When Hannah saw Gabriella, she took the latter's hand in surprise.

"Gabriella, you're here too!"

Gabriella glanced at Hannah's hand and quietly withdrew her own before nodding.

Hannah did not appear to be bothered by her reaction.

"It's been three years since we last met. You've grown so distant from me now.

"I remember when you were still in university, you used to treat me as your sister-in-law."

Those in the room were unsurprised by what they heard. They knew that Gabriella was Henry's adopted sister.

Since Gabriella was acquainted with Hannah too, it seemed like Henry's big day would be approaching soon.

Meanwhile, Gabriella had always known that she could never win against Hannah.
