Chapter 5 Can We Not Get a Divorce

Gabriella's nose turned pink as her eyes flooded with tears.

She had never seen such a gentle side from Henry. Throughout their three years of marriage, he had always been rather indifferent to her.

She often comforted herself that it was simply Henry's character. She repeated it so often that she even started believing it.

However, she had seen it now.

Henry could be gentle too. He just chose not to show it to her.

They walked past her car.

Henry did not realize it was her car, nor did he notice she was inside it.

"Mrs. Toussaint, you're back. What do you want for dinner ..."

Maria inadvertently caught a glimpse of the tears on Gabriella's face.

But before she could finish speaking, Gabriella had already entered the bedroom.

Completely drained, Gabriella leaned against the door. After holding in her emotions the entire day, she finally could not do it anymore.

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

Her heart stung. She knew the pain of growing up in a single-parent family all too well. She did not want her child to go through the same thing she did.

But what could she do about it?

After a long while, Maria knocked on the door carefully.

"It's time for dinner, Mrs. Toussaint."

Gabriella hummed in response and went to the bathroom to wash her face.

Just as she was about to exit the room, she suddenly thought of what Henry said earlier.

He had a gift for her.

Gabriella wondered what it could be. She looked for his luggage and opened it.

The moment she saw what it was, she was stunned.

It was not jewelry, but an autographed record of her favorite foreign singer.

Gabriella hugged it dearly.

At the very least, he remembered to get her a gift and knew what she liked.

Their marriage had not been a complete failure, right?

When Gabriella woke up the next day, she was alone in bed. She sat up and stayed in a trance for a long time.

Henry must have spent the night at Hannah's place yesterday.

Gabriella knew she should be prepared for something like this, but she could not stop her heart from aching.

Just then, Henry opened the door.

Upon seeing Gabriella sitting in a daze and looking pale, he sat on the edge of the bed and asked, "Gabriella, are you not feeling well?"

Gabriella was startled by his presence. Deep down inside, she felt a glimmer of joy.

"No," she replied as she got to her feet.

"What happened? Talk to me."

Was he asking her to tell him?

Could she say that she did not want to divorce him at all?

Considering that he had brought her a gift and had not stayed at Hannah's place last night, could it be that he had feelings for her too, even if it was just a little bit?

If she asked him to stay with her, would he agree to do it?

Just as Gabriella was about to speak, Henry added, "Even if I'm not your husband in the future, I'm still your brother. You can still tell me if you have suffered any grievances."

Upon hearing what he said, Gabriella felt her throat constrict. Her words were left unsaid.

A little while later, she mustered a smile and answered, "I'm fine. You can go down first. I'll be right there once I wash up."

Henry looked at her and loosened his collar.

"Gabriella, we haven't gotten a divorce yet. Are you already distancing yourself from me?"

She shook her head. "I'm not."

Henry narrowed his eyes and looked a little displeased. "Since you don't want to talk about it, I won't force you. I'm going to work now."

He left the room without hesitation.

As soon as he went out, Gabriella could no longer maintain the smile on her face.

What was he angry about?

Was it because Hannah was back, and he was getting more impatient with Gabriella?

At Toussaint Holdings, Yvonne Milton hurried into Gabriella's office. "Ms. Carrington, Emma's manager is looking for you!"

MQ, the fashion brand under Toussaint Holdings, had chosen the emerging star, Emma Solace, as the face of the brand's clothing line for the upcoming season.

Emma was widely recognized for her youthful image, which perfectly matched the theme of their collection.

"What's the matter?"

"She insisted on speaking to you."

Gabriella took the phone. "Hello, Jodie."
