An hour and a half.
That's how long it took before he began to see anything that could potentially be Malena's home. For the past hour and a half all he saw was trees and darkness. But as he was nearing the border, he soon found a small cabin. If it weren't for the smoke coming out of the brick chimney, he would've overlooked it.
Not smelling a definite scent, he made his way to the cabin.
Balancing Emerald in one arm, he knocked repeatedly on the door for someone to answer. His heart was pounding, hoping he found who it was he was looking for.
He heard movement coming from inside and eventually the door opened. A woman who looked to be in her late thirties opened the door. She was stunning. Couldn't be any taller than 5'4'' but with her petite stature, she was drop-dead gorgeous. Her cheekbones were highly accentuated, her luxurious black hair tumbling down her waist, her lips plump. She was petite in her stature but no doubt men and women could feel intimidated by her.
"Malena?" he questions unsure.
She grew surprised at him knowing her name but before she answered she sensed something. Disregarding a woman in his arms altogether, she sensed that he was a werewolf. "I don't speak with your kind."
And with that, she instantly began to close the door. But he quickly placed his foot in between the door and the frame.
"Wait please," he begs. "I need your help- well actually she does."
Malena annoyedly opens the door and looks at him. When she noticed that he was looking down at Emerald, she did the same. At first she didn't understand what he could possibly need her for but then she felt a drawing to her. Stepping closer, she overlooked features that seemed familiar but she couldn't quite put her finger on how she knew her. Almost about to step back and repeat herself, her eyes were then drawn to the necklace around her neck.
And with that she knew.
"Emerald Taylor," she said mostly to herself but he heard nevertheless. Looking up at him, he nodded, concluding her statement. Instantly opening her door wider, she beckoned him inside, which he quickly did. Closing and locking the cabin door, she easily snapped her fingers to which candles all around the room were lit. This made him confused. "I suspect that this conversation is confidential," Malena said. "Therefore I have put up a barrier so no one can hear us." He was grateful and he soon placed Emerald on the couch. "What do you need me for you child?"
"She's dead," he simply says.
This instantly gets Malena a reaction and she quickly makes her way Emerald, placing her hand over her chest- searching for a heartbeat. But to no avail. "How did this happen?"
"Her brothers... After the death of their parents they locked her away from the pack, beating her relentlessly, everyday. I believe they beat her so much that her body couldn't properly heal and soon she would grow subject to the wounds and die... Like tonight."
"How do you know this?"
"I followed one of her brothers one night and saw him go inside the room they were holding her captive. He was there for quite a long time so when he finished, I went inside and found her."
Malena didn't ask anymore questions about that. "When did she heal?"
"Not too long after she died. There was this light that went over her body and healed her. I've never seen anything like it."
"A light you say?" she questions, which he nods his head to. "I have to move quickly."
Quickly she was moving around the living room, pulling small bottles from the shelves. As she did so, she was mumbling something under her breath. He couldn't interpret it and he didn't try to. After she had everything she needed, she got a small beaker-like glass and started to pour a concoction into it. Going to a random plant, she takes off two leaves which she then grinds in a mortar and pestle. Once it was smashed, she scoops it into the beaker, swirling it around.
Her chanting began to get louder and she made her way over to Emerald's corpse. Placing her hand on her forehead, then her chest, she then opens her mouth. Raising the glass to her lips, she tilts it so that the small content would go down into her throat. Once it was all in her mouth, she tilted her back to have it travel down her throat.
For a moment, nothing happened other than Malena continuing to chant. But then Emerald began to rise. Her body floating off the couch, just about a foot, nothing more. Her thin, matted hair floated underneath her. Her arms crossed delicately at the wrists in her lap. She seemed to be at peace.
Again a light overtook her body, more subtle this time than the last.
Malena continued to chant the same word at this point. "Αφροδίτη." Over and over again.
Meeting his ears it sounded like "Afrodíti" which he knew was translated to Venus.
The light overtaking her body moved from her feet upward. Her calves which were once fragile grew thick and muscular, the same with her thighs. Her stomach remained flat but her waist was accentuated. Her chest then expanded, lifting itself to a bigger cup. Though her arms were covered with her sleeves, he knew that they were more toned and muscular. Continuing onto her face, nothing much changed from the first light he saw. Her cheekbones were defined, her lips were plump, her eyelashes long, and her eyebrows arched and thick. Her thin, black, matted hair was made luxurious and thick, made longer than it originally was.
And just like that, she fell back onto the couch. The difference this time.
She was breathing.
Emerald"Emerald," said a soft and clear voice. I didn't remember anything. But I knew what I felt. And I felt free, absolutely free. I didn't feel pain, I didn't feel guilt whatsoever. I felt... alive. I don't remember the last I felt like this, if ever. I heard my name continuing to be repeated. By the same soft and angelic voice. It reminded me of my mother and thought of her brought a mental smile. She yearned for the voice of her mom, her gentle touch, her angelic like laugh. Everything. "Emerald," said the voice again. "Mom?" she asked groggily but hopefully.Opening my eyes, I was met by a bright light outlining a figure of a woman. The figure looked a lot like my mom but the more I adjusted to the sudden setting, the more I realized it wasn't her. This woman was flawless. Long luxurious hair, golden tan like skin, face that bore no wrinkles, acne, dark spots- nothing. She was gorgeous. I grew confused as to who she was, where I was, why I was here. "Ah so many questions I
Anonymous He had left not too long after Emerald began to breathe. The sun was beginning to rise and soon his pack would wake up and notice his absence. It wouldn't be long before her brothers would notice that their sister was no longer there, but he had more time till they discovered her missing, unlike them discovering he was gone. Malena was left with her, looking over her restlessly. When the sun had fully risen, she began to sense her awakening at any moment. She knew that Emerald would be confused as to this being the first time she's been out of captivity for nine years. She expected it and was mentally preparing herself for the countless questions she might receive. After heating herself some water for her tea, she put the kettle on the coffee table along with the two cups. Not long after she placed the cups down, Emerald gasped out of her sleep. Malena, who was sitting on the coffee table pouring the hot water in the tea cups, faced her, looking at her calmly. Emerald's e
EmeraldFor a brief moment, it was still in the darkness. I didn't feel anything. I didn't hear anything.Just still. But then a feeling from deep within my body started to make a presence. It was small at first, and almost went unnoticed. But it grew. It felt like it was taking twists and turns and overall felt weird within my body. It wasn't excruciatingly painful but it wasn't a good feeling either. It somewhat made me gasp as it took over my body and seemed to consume me. I couldn't stop it even if I tried. Just when the feeling seemed to become worse, there was a warming effect that instantly went throughout my body. It felt calming and relieving. And just like that, I was back in Malena's living room, looking at her. "You alright?" she questioned. I nodded my head. "Okay good. How well is your sense of smell?""Uh pretty good I'd say," I responded. "I'm able to smell the rotting egg salad in your fridge."Her eyes grew wide. "I completely forgot about that. Well okay then,
Emerald mentally sighed to myself as Malena walked to the front door. I wanted my questions fully answered, not vaguely and through some riddles. What was wrong with having legitimate answers? As I continued to be deep in thought, I soon heard my name being called. Tearing my eyes away from nothing in particular, I turn my head and see Malena standing there with another woman. The woman was beautiful, not surprising me one bit. In ways she looked a lot like Malena, as if they were related somehow. "Sisters?" I questioned . Her friend grinned. "She's observant," she says. Yep, definitely sisters. "I'm Jemma, it is an honor to meet you.""So I've been told," I say, standing.Jemma looks at Malena confused. "She doesn't know," Malena said softly. Or at least she tried to speak softly, my werewolf hearing prevented that. Jemma's eyes somewhat widened but nevertheless she nodded. "Are you ready to go?" she questions. Nodding my head, I stood and waited for her to go to the door so we
EmeraldNine months. The first three months were in Florence, Italy where Jemma taught me. There I learned a lot about my powers, how to control them, and countless hours of practice. I learned spells, how to create my own if need be, and the use of potions. The three months passed by quickly and I wasn't aware of the fact that there would be a deadline when it was all over. Yes, I knew that Jemma was pushing me much harder and faster than I would've thought but I took it and didn't question it. Not until one morning when she said my teachings were over and that I was going to go through with my werewolf training. Of course I had believed that I had more to learn, but with the vagueness of just about everything in witchcraft, I went along with it. I understood that there were a lot of things that I needed to learn on my own and that it wasn't as easy as asking a question and receiving a legitimate answer. There was never anything straightforward when it came to witchcraft. I belie
EmeraldI wiped the sweat off my brow as I prepared breakfast for the restaurant. Though I assisted Raphael, he gave me free reign for breakfast. We worked together for lunch and dinner and desserts were either or. Though I liked cooking just about any food amongst breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert- my favorites were breakfast and desserts. As I finished this plate for a customer, I placed it on the going out window, and the waiter on the other side instantly took it. As I moved onto the next dish, I was suddenly pulled away from my working trance. "Chef Emmy," one of the prep cooks said. He easily gained my attention as I washed my hands to work on the next dish. "You have a call."I scrunch my brows together in confusion, wondering who could possibly be contacting me at work nonetheless. Drying my hands on a cloth, I make my way to the phone, taking whoever it was off hold. "Bonjour," I say. "Emerald," says the person on the other line. I grew confused when I heard her voice.
Emerald I was to meet Jemma in a secluded alleyway after I went to the places that I often went to these last three months. After having wiped the memory of myself from my realtor, I went to the nearby cafe where I always had my coffee and pastries. Local grocer. The restaurant. Etc etc etc. I honestly didn't think I needed to go to all the places that I did but, unlike how I used to be, I was social. People in France were welcoming and I liked talking to them so even places I went to a few times I had to go erase my memory for fear that if my picture came up, no one would recognize it. Of course the hardest thing to erase was the restaurant. I truly found that place as where I would make a name for myself. But as I was going around I soon realized that it made sense as to why fate had it that my brothers were now on my trail again. The nagging feeling I had about the prophecy- the journey I needed to fulfill- had been on hold. And if it were left to me, I would've ignored it for th
EmeraldAfter looking around the room for what seemed like the millionth time, we ended up back in the living room, sitting on the Victorian plush couch. I couldn't get over how much I loved this space and though it was decorated by Jemma, how much it related to me. "So how long did you live here for?" I questioned. "Malena and I both lived in Clarke when we were younger. We grew up in this town up until we developed our powers. We had to leave but I had made this place my home and found it tough to leave.""So how have you been able to keep it this whole time?""Well I'm part tenant of this building, a good friend of mine owns it with me so a perk was free rent. I still help pay though, send her money once a month.""Does she...""No she doesn't know. I was always the adventurous type so when I told her abruptly that I was going to Italy she didn't question it. Our agreement was she wouldn't rent out the space and I would pay for half of it as if I had rented it. So she kept it up
