Chapter 0003

"Hey, you alright hun? You look, well..."

"I know, awful, I'm fine though, promise, just a rough night at the club last night, didn't get out of there until after three because some dumbasses decided to get into a fight at closing."

"I hate that you work there, but I get it... Hope you can chill here today, just think, it's Friday, so close to your day off right."

She waved as she pulled her hood up on her jacket then ran out the door to her car. I miss working with her, she started a year after I did, we used to work the weekends together until I started at the club when I turned twenty one.

Now we barely see one another except in passing, but we text all the time too so that we keep up with one another. She is basically my best friend here, besides Andy, he works the back bar with me Wednesday through Saturdays. We get along great, his boyfriend, Jacob, comes in most nights too, but he DJ's there as well so he doesn't just sit around at the bar with us, he's working as well.

Honestly I love working at the bar for the most part, we have a ton of fun together, mostly repeat customers as well, it's like hanging out with friends every night except I get paid to do it.

After I cleaned up the diner, wiped all the tables and chairs down, I refilled everything from the salt shakers to the coffee so it was fresh, I went to check on Lloyd.

My wolf was pacing around in my head as she felt the air around him darken as we got closer.

'He's really struggling today, make him something to eat then tell him to go be with Linda. They need the time together, we can handle everything here, it's completely dead anyway.'

I decided to do just that, so I cooked up his favourite meal.

Pulling everything off the top, plating it up as I grabbed the hot sauce I walked it all out to where Lloyd was sitting.

His head lifted when the door swung open as I made my way over to him, a small smile formed on his face as he sniffed the air.

"Did you make me my favourite breakfast? Even added the garlic?"

"I did, now please, eat this then go home to Linda. It's a slow day, this storm isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I have it here. Kayla comes in at two, with Patrick to run the kitchen. I have it until then, promise."

He began eating, making sounds with every bite showing how much he liked it before looking up at me again.

"You were on time today, I know I give you a hard time about it, but I need you here, you're the best waitress/cook I have here.

I wish you didn't have to work so hard all the time, but damn your cooking is getting even better. Thank you for this. I'll get going, if you're sure you have this."

"I promise, I do. Please give her a kiss for me. Drive safe too, this storm is something else, be careful."

I gave him a tight hug before I helped him gather his things so he could leave. Luckily he parks out the back door so he only has about three steps to the car.

Once he left I just hung around the place, I was getting hungry so I decided to make myself some lunch, nothing too big, just a club sandwich with some homemade chips I had made yesterday while here.

I sat down behind the counter watching the rain fall. It was so heavy I could barely see past the sidewalk out front when lightning struck right just as thunder hit, rattling the diner, the windows shook as I felt my whole body vibrating when the lights shut completely off making me gasp.

The sky was so dark that with no power the room felt eerie. If I didn't have my wolf I wouldn't be able to see, thankfully that isn't the case.

Shakily I slowly made my way to the back where the electric box was, flipping the switches only for nothing to happen. That was the moment I heard the bell chime at the door making my skin pebble as fear gripped me. Since I cursed myself for having left my phone sitting on the counter.
