Chapter 3. Off Vibes

3. Off Vibes

"What's going on here?" Sean and Wynter backed away from Sabrina's voice.

Sabrina was taken aback to discover an unknown person in her daughter's room, let alone in such an intimate setting.

"Mama Iris!!" Wynter's eyes widened as she realized Sabrina had found her in this situation. She despised hiding anything from Sabrina, and the fact that Sabrina had discovered the truth in this manner made her stomach twist.

Sabrina turned to face Sean, who wore a proud expression rather than one of guilt.

"Mrs. King, I'd like to introduce myself..." Sean began, but Wynter interrupted him.

"We'll talk later," Wynter indicated.

Sabrina folded her hands and looked at Sean with a discerning eye.

"Wynter, show him the exit, and then come into our room, I and your father would like to speak with you," Sabrina said, adding to Wynter's concern. She'd never seen her Mama Iris so enraged.

Sabrina is a logical and supportive person who would encourage her daughter in anything, but something seemed off with this Sean guy. Sabrina was worried about her daughter and someone taking advantage of her innocence, so she decided to have a discussion about it. Sabrina would have shrugged it otherwise, but her instincts were always correct, so she was worried about the whole thing.

"What's the deal with this stupid lady..." Sean was about to insult Sabrina, but Wynter was having none of it.

"Be careful with your words, Sean; you're talking about my mother, and I won't tolerate anything against her," Wynter cautioned, prompting Sean to close his mouth.

He intended to cause friction in the mother-daughter relationship, but he was unsuccessful. He reasoned that if he introduced some misunderstandings, Wynter would trust him more.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was just worried that I'd gotten you in big trouble, so I didn't notice when the words left my mouth," Sean explained. He was debating whether wanting Wynter for her fame was the right thing to do these days.

"I told you not to come; I was about to speak with Mama Iris about our relationship; I was just waiting for exams to finish," Wynter sighed. "Okay, now go; maybe we can talk about this tomorrow," Wynter said as he ushered him out.

"Are you in hot water because of me?" Sean inquired, turning around as he was about to leave.

"Not that deep; my family is very supportive, and I am confident they will understand if I pursue them," Wynter responded truthfully.

"Okay, maybe we'll see each other tomorrow," Sean said, smiling.

Wynter nodded, shut the door, exhaled a deep sigh, and began walking towards Travis and Sabrina's room. She was perplexed as to why they had returned so soon after stating that they would spend some time in Chicago.

"Mama Iris," she quietly said as she knocked on their door.

"Come in, baby," Sabrina said from inside, which made Wynter feel a little better because hearing Sabrina address her baby gave Wynter hope that she wasn't as mad at her as she expected.

Sabrina was a very understanding woman who believed there was no reason to be angry for unimportant reasons. She understood that Wynter is a mature individual with all the right to make her own decisions, but Sabrina was perplexed as to why Wynter didn't speak up on her own.

Sabrina and Travis were sitting next to each other on a couch in their room. Travis was slumped on the sofa, his carefree self that he enjoyed being around his family. Sabrina, on the other hand, was concerned.

"Come princess, sit next to us," Travis said.

Sabrina noticed the tension between them and decided to lighten the atmosphere because she didn't want Wynter to be intimidated and not say anything to them.

"Wondering how we got back so quickly?" Sabrina asked a question to change the subject.

Wynter gave a nod.

"Actually, princess, your Mama Iris couldn't rest without her kids and wanted to see them as soon as possible," Travis teased Sabrina.

"Arman, don't act like you weren't eager to do the same," Sabrina said, and they all laughed.

"Do you have anything to say to us, princess?" Travis inquired.

Wynter fidgeted with her hands for a while, gathering her thoughts and preparing herself to say something.

"Yes, Daddy, but first I want you to trust me with whatever I say, okay?" Wynter was skeptical because she was afraid her parents would judge her, which was the last thing she wanted for herself.

"Of course, baby, we're waiting for you, and don't worry, we won't judge you; we just want you to be open to us so that we can guide you if you're going in the wrong direction, but first, tell me if this is the first time he's come to our house or has it happened before?" Sabrina inquired.

"No, Mama Iris, today was the first day, and I had no idea he was coming; it was completely unexpected. I assure you that I haven't been sneaking around behind your back "'Except for one time,' Wynter reflected on the incident in which she lost her virginity a few weeks ago.

"All right, we trust you now; please elaborate." Travis encouraged and Wynter felt guilty for lying to or hiding the incident from them, but Wynter was too embarrassed to speak about it.

"I love Sean," Wynter decided to get straight to the point. "I met him in college, and I'm not sure how these feelings developed, but I was deeply in love with him," Wynter explained.

Sabrina had a feeling there was something wrong with this, and she had previously mentioned it to Travis, but Travis decided to listen to both sides before passing judgment on her.

"Then why didn't you tell us all along, baby?" Sabrina questioned.

"I really wanted to, Mama Iris, but Sean wasn't prepared." Sabrina was taken aback by the revelation, which only added to her doubts.

Why would this boy refuse to meet us? Sabrina pondered.

"and why was that?" Travis queried.

"Perhaps he was intimidated by the thought, but we were soon going to reveal it to you guys," Wynter shrugged.

"Are you certain about him, love?" Sabrina inquired.

"Yes, Mama Iris," Wynter said without hesitation.

"OK, my love, we're looking forward to seeing him; I hope it won't be a problem, and I'd also advise you to be cautious." Travis' advice made Wynter tense in an instant, "You know, better be careful than sorry, and that advice applies not only to him but to anyone at that time." Travis outperformed her.

"OK, Daddy," Wynter said, nodding.

"Okay, go now and prepare for your exams; we don't want you to be stressed about anything," Sabrina said dismissively.

"Goodnight, Mama Iris," Wynter said as she hugged her parents.

Wynter exhaled a sigh of relief as she exited, relieved that she had passed this phase. It wasn't even half as bad as she had anticipated, and she was even more grateful that she had such supportive parents who, while asking questions, did so only because they were concerned.

She went back to her room and decided to talk to Sean because she suspected he was worried about her.

She entered her room and sat on her bed, taking her phone from the side table.

She called, but Sean didn't respond, so she assumed he was busy or tired, so she decided to speak with him face to face, and this time she decided to ask him to meet her parents because she felt terrible for hiding anything from her parents, and she doesn't want to do that anymore.

Sabrina slumped beside Travis, sighing, as soon as Wynter left the room.

"Are you all right, Sab?" Travis inquired.

"How can I be Arman, do you think I'm okay after hearing all this?" Sabrina admitted.

"True, Love. I'm worried about my princess as well. All of this is a little messed up, but don't worry, we should let our daughter go and explore her life "Travis proposed.

Travis was hugged by Sabrina. "You're right, Arman, but I'm worried about my girl, and my heart doesn't agree with this whole ordeal thing. I'm trying to reconcile myself by telling myself that maybe the boy was intimidated, but I was getting off vibes from him. You know how fragile our girl is; she is so innocent and like an angel that I am terrified that she will be hurt "Travis thought Sabrina had a valid point when she expressed her concern.

"Yes, Sabrina, you are correct, but don't worry, I will not spare anyone who comes for my children," Travis assured.

Sabrina nodded, "Yes, I trust you."

"Anyway, we'll go meet him, but until then, let's give our girl some space, and I have some better things in the box for us," Travis said seductively.

"Arman!" Sabrina lightly slapped his chest.

Wynter went to her college the next day and was surprised not to see Sean waiting for her. She reasoned that Sean might have some classes and would prefer not to wait for her. She checked her phone, expecting Sean to leave her a message, but there was none.

Wynter began walking towards her classes when she noticed Sean's friends on campus; she considered speaking with him, but as she approached them, she noticed they were laughing over something, and the entire class was present.

When one of the guys noticed Wynter approaching, they all stopped laughing and turned their attention to Wynter.

Wynter felt a little awkward with all eyes on her.

"Ahm... Hey, where is Sean?" Wynter inquired.

Sean's friend Shaun stopped one of the guys from opening his mouth. "He hasn't arrived yet," Shaun replied.

"Oh," Wynter said as she excused herself from them, pulling out her phone and dialing Sean, but his phone was going to voicemail.

"Hey Sean, please call me as soon as you get this message." Wynter left a voice message and went to her classes.

When she was finished, she waited for Sean again, only to find out that he didn't attend college today.

When Sabrina and Travis asked if she had spoken to Sean, Wynter had to lie and say he was sick or something.

She tried his phone all day but to no avail. She decided to confront him the next day but he did not show up.

Wynter was concerned because it was unusual for Sean not to answer his phone and not attend college, but something important with her studies came up, and she decided that if he did not come to college even after that day, she would go to his house.

The next day, Wynter went to college and patiently waited for Sean. When she called him, his phone rang, which was a good sign for Wynter, and she breathed a sigh of relief, but Sean did not answer her calls.

Wynter decided not to attend her lectures today and instead go see Sean. As she was turning around to go see Sean, a familiar car entered the campus.

Wynter exhaled a sigh of relief when she spotted Sean's car. Sean walked out of the car as the door opened. Wynter was about to approach him when she noticed Suzy standing by his side. It would have been normal for her to dismiss it, thinking they were just best friends, but what Sean did next stunned her.

In front of Wynter, he kissed Suzy.
