Chapter 4. Breakup

4. Breakup

Wynter was taken aback to see Sean exit the car with Suzy at his side, and she was frightened that something awful had happened to him.

What followed was even more surprising. He locked his lips with Suzy right in the middle of the college, without caring whether anyone saw them. He seemed careless, but at college, he never went near to Wynter and always highlighted the risk that someone may see them.

Wynter couldn't move her body because of the shock. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Her eyes were filled with tears. Her heart had been shattered.

She gathered her courage and determined to face him.

Sean didn't move away from Suzy even though he spotted Wynter approaching.

"S-Sean What the hell is going on here?" Wynter interrogated him.

Despite his withdrawal, Sean did not reply to Wynter.

"Sean, come with me, we need to talk," Wynter said firmly, heading towards a remote area where they might have some solitude.

When they were alone, Wynter remarked, "Tell me now if this is some silly trick you're performing on me."

"No, Wynter, I'm sorry, but I love Suzy," Sean answered flatly, and Wynter felt the ground shift beneath her feet.

"What are you talking about, Sean?" Do you hear what you're saying? You've told me that you love me, that you came to my house, that you're my lover, and that Suzy is just your friend, and now you're pulling this stuff on me." Wynter's patience became thin, and she raised her voice at someone for the first time.

Sean was surprised since he expected Wynter would leave him alone after he broke up with her, but she was ready to pounce on him at any minute and tear him to bits.

"Wynter, please listen to me. I  apologize for what I did." Sean began, but Wynter interrupted him.

"Are you sorry? Now? Here I was worried about you, Sean, and now you come back and decide you want to be with someone else. What's wrong with you?" Wynter challenged him. "Here I was, battling for you with my parents, making reasons for why you couldn't meet them. I  assume you didn't even plan to meet them in the first place," Wynter said.

"This is enough, Wynter. I'd want to address this issue right immediately. Please grasp what I'm saying, Wynter. I tried my hardest to love, but it was impossible. I have feelings for her that I can't even put into words. We began as friends, but I'm not sure when I fell in love with her. I am sorry Wynter. " Sean responded with a remorseful look on his face.

"What did you see in her that I didn't?  It's not like you two met yesterday. Why did you make progress towards me if you were in love with her?" Wynter brushed her tears away from her eyes. "It's not like I pushed myself on you."

"Wynter, at first, I was interested in the idea of dating a rich girl, and who better than Travis King's daughter, but trust me, I selected you because I admired your character, and that's why I attempted to love you, but after I met Suzy, everything changed. I now understand what genuine love is, and I apologize for disappointing you, but you are not my type. I wish you the best, Wynter." He finished his explanation.

Wynter fisted her fist. "Not your type? You would have considered that before having sex with me and stealing my virginity, you rascal. You're claiming you discovered genuine love after robbing me of my innocence, and you don't get to make excuses. You slept with me despite having your so-called lover with you, and you claim to have discovered true love. Sean, come up with something more compelling," Wynter yelled.

"Wynter, what would I have done?  I couldn't reject it since I am a guy with temptation. Don't pretend you didn't want it as much as I did." Sean rolled his eyes, and Wynter was done. She raised her hand and slapped him on the face.

"Enough, you've reached your limit.  I regret that I ever trusted you. You claim I'm not your type, don't you? You, on the other hand, are the one who does not deserve me. But please tell me one more thing. Why did you retreat following the day you showed up at my place or were you there to be personal with me again?" Wynter screamed and clutched his collar.

"You know, after meeting your mother, I felt frightened, and I don't believe I fit in with you billionaires." That was a flimsy reason Sean made up, and Wynter could tell. His reasoning made no sense to her.

"Whatever happens, Sean, you'll know what you've lost one day. Whatever you did to me will one day come back to haunt you, in the same manner, your "Blinded Dreams" which I valued. You will be broken in the same way." Wynter cursed him.

"Whatever it is, Wynter," Sean murmured as he moved away from the scene.

Wynter burst into tears as soon as Sean was out of sight. She couldn't take it any longer. This was her first betrayal, and she had no idea where she had gone wrong.

She tried everything she could to be worthy of his respect. She went to great lengths to satisfy him, and now the same person has deceived her. She had so many hopes constructed particularly for them, but they were all smashed in an instant.

"Wynter," one of her classmates called out, and she dashed up to her. "Hey, are you okay?  Why are you sobbing?" Jessica inquired, concerned about Wynter's appearance on the ground.

She encouraged Wynter to stand. "Are you okay?" Do you have a fever? Do you wish to return home? Jessica volunteered to drop you off.

"No, I'm OK.  Let's go to class." Wynter didn't want any attention focused on her. She simply wanted to get through the day so she could go vent her anger in her bedroom.

Even though she was in class, she was not paying attention to the lectures as she usually did. Instead, her thoughts were drawn to Sean and her parents' concerned expressions.

She was sorry she hadn't spoken something to them sooner. She wished she had listened to her parents' advice before taking this critical move. Furthermore, she felt silly for being so misled by Sean's phony love story that she didn't notice he was using her.

Her brain began to hurt from all of her overthinking. She blinked her eyes, attempting to focus on the lecture in order to divert herself, but nothing worked. Everything appeared to whirl around her, and suddenly darkness engulfed her, causing her to tumble from her seat.

Everyone around her was taken aback. The instructor arrived swiftly and decided to contact Wynter's parents as soon as possible.

When Sabrina received the call, she panicked and went to the hospital where Wynter was being treated.

As soon as they saw her, "Mrs. King," Jessica, and Wynter's professor approached her.

"What happened to her?" Sabrina questioned, taking a deep breath. "She passed out in class,  Mrs. King, and Jessica said she discovered her weeping before the lectures." The lecturer explained briefly,

"What was she crying about?" Sabrina forwarded her inquiry to Jessica.

"I don't know Mrs. King. I asked her what it was, but she refused to tell me." Sabrina furrowed her brow in a scowl.  She couldn't understand what was wrong with Wynter.

She dashed inside and exhaled a sigh of relief when the doctor said Wynter was OK and only needed some rest.

Travis, who had received the call just as he was finishing up with Hunter, went to the hospital and joined Sabrina.

"What happened to my Wyn Wyn, Mama Iris?" Hunter asked.

"Nothing, honey; she was simply exhausted and hadn't eaten lunch, so she collapsed." Sabrina calmed Hunter down. He was quite connected to Wynter, and his small heart couldn't bear the thought of his sister lying in a hospital bed.

"Nothing to be concerned about, doctor?" Travis asked.

"Nothing, Mr. King, she was simply weary and upset over something she will wake up to whenever you can maybe talk to her about," the doctor said.

"OK, thank you," Travis said, dismissing him.

Wynter soon opened her eyes.

Travis approached her and was relieved to see his daughter was unharmed.

Wynter held her head as images of Sean breaking up with her flashed through her mind.

"Baby, don't worry about anything, just relax, okay?" Sabrina stated

"Can I have some alone time, Mama Iris?" Wynter requested\sSabrina and Travis exchanged glances. They were aware that something was awry, but they chose not to worry Wynter.

Wynter burst into tears as soon as Sabrina and Travis left. She couldn't bear the pain of betrayal. She had hoped to spend her life with Sean, but her hopes had been dashed.

They came home the next day, and Wynter avoided speaking to anybody, claiming that she was too busy with her studies, which she accomplished by immersing herself more and more in her studies.

Soon, her exams would begin, and she would avoid speaking to anybody. She would go write her exams and return straight to home whenever her parents tried to speak to her. She will do anything to avoid them. Sabrina and Travis planned to talk to her just after she finished her examinations.

Wynter was once again studying, as she always was. Tomorrow was the last day of her exam, and she was pleased that she wouldn't have to return to the place.

Wynter expected to be freed of all kinds of tension, and then she planned to go on and attempt to love someone who deserved her heart.

She felt nauseated and dizzy as soon as she finished her studies. She tried to get out of her chair, but she was about to lose her composure. She grasped the table's edge for support.

She shook her head to get rid of the dizziness, but it didn't go away. She had an overwhelming want to throw off. She dashed into the restroom and emptied her stomach.

Something suddenly occurred to her. She hadn't had her period in nearly a month, and she was always on time.

She came to a conclusion about what may go wrong. She wanted it was for the tension she was drowning in, but she wasn't sure.

She couldn't help but get a pregnancy kit online, and while it was being delivered, she couldn't stop fiddling with her hands. She wasn't prepared to have a child. She was terrified about having to raise him without a father figure in his life.

When her order arrived, she crept out and grabbed the test kits for her room.

There were five of them, all from different manufacturers. She was on the edge of tears as she took the tests and awaited the results.

Wynter gasped as all of the tests came back positive.
