Chapter 4.1

- Two days later –

“Are you sure that you’ll be fine here?” asked by Louve to Madison. She is set to leave today to visit her parents in another province.

“You’ve asked me this question a million times already. I’ll be fine! Don’t worry and just enjoy your vacation.”

“I’m just worried. What if something happens?”

“Stop treating me like a child! I’m already an adult. Just go and enjoy your vacation.”

“Fine, just call me when anything happens.”

“I get it, I get it. You already told me that a hundred times already.”

“Okay, don’t forget to unplug—”

“I know! You even left notes on the refrigerator! How could anything go wrong? I know what I’m doing and what I’m supposed to do.”

“Okay, don’t overwork yourself too much. I don’t know when I’ll get back but call me when something happens.”

“Don’t rush your vacation, enjoy your time there. Lucky for you to get a vacation. Don’t think about me, I’ll be safe.”

“Okay, I’ll go now. Be careful and be safe!”

“Okay! Bye! Have a safe travel!” Louve left and Madison immediately closed the doors. She went to the refrigerator to drink water. “Gosh, does she think I’m just a five-years-old child?” Madison said while looking at the notes Louve left.

Madison took a bath and grabbed her things to go to the hospital. While she walking her phone received a message. She took it from her pocket, reason for her to get distracted while walking.

A flower vase was about to fall to Madison’s head from the third floor of an establishment but a man was able to catch it in a speed of light.

“Oh, my goodness! Young woman, are you okay—oh? Where is the vase?” Madison heard the lady from the establishment shout so she looked up at her. However, the lady was confused when she didn’t see a broken vase. Madison was confused because she did not know what happened, as everything happened too fast.

Madison just shrugged and continue walking. She rode a taxi and went to the hospital.

“Did you guys hear the rumors?” Madison heard the nurses talking in the nurse station. “There were rumors saying that there are vampires and werewolves in the city!”

“That’s none sense! Do you still believe in those?”

“Why? It could be true! They said that some people saw a person with a super speed who move like a speed of light!”

“I also saw some videos about that! It looked so real!”

“There were even videos where you can hear the sounds of a wolf growling! I mean, why would there be wolves growling in the city?”

“Stop watching movies! The growling could be from a dog while the super speed or whatever could be edited! Don’t believe everything from the internet!”

Madison walked towards them and looked at them.

“Are you guys going to gossip all day? Don’t you have enough work to do? You’re not getting paid to gossip about none sense stuffs.”

“Have you heard that news too doctor Suarez?”

“Just get back to work. Even if I—” Madison stopped midway of her sentence when a man came in the emergency room covered with blood.

“Help me! H-Help me! T-there’s a m-monster! H-help!” Madison and the nurses approached the man and assisted him to a bed. She used her stethoscope to check the patient. “T-There’s a m-monster! Please h-help me! S-She bit m-me!” shouted by the man as he touched his left neck covered with blood.

Madison cleaned the area of the neck and she saw two holes.

“O-Oh my gosh! That’s w-what a vampire bite looks like!” shouted by the nurse gossiping about vampires and werewolves earlier. Madison looked at her angrily and shouted at her.

“GET TO BACK TO YOUR SENSES! Stop fantasizing and treat the patient! How can a medical staff act like that in front of a patient?!”

The nurse was stunned and attacked fast in treating the patient. Madison thought that it was just a small injury so she left it to the nurse to treat. When Madison was about to leave, the man started having seizure and he turned pale. Madison ran back and checked the patient’s pupils with a penlight. She also started checking the pulse of the man.

“Doctor Suarez! The vitals of the patient are unstable! What should we do?”

“Give the patient an IV fluid—” Madison was stopped when the patient started vomiting blood. It didn’t last long before the vitals of the patient went to a straight line. Madison tried conducting a CPR however the vitals didn’t come back. A long beeping sound was heard from the vital monitor machine. Madison stepped back and announced his time of date.

“Time of death two-thirty in the afternoon of October twenty eight of year two-thousand and twenty-one.”

The patient’s body was covered with white blanket and was transferred to the morgue. Madison went back to the nurse station and started lecturing the nurse.

“What were you thinking?! A vampire’s bite?! Is that what medical school thought you?! I can’t believe you said that in front of a patient!”

“I-I’m s-sorry Doctor Madison but it does—”

“Are going to that topic again? Why don’t you quit being a nurse and be researcher or whatever instead? I don’t want this to happen again! I don’t discriminate you in believing in whatever you want to believe, but learn to separate it from the medical field! In this hospital that only we believe is science and not any mythical creature. When you step outside, go and believe in every myth!”

Madison walked away and proceeds to the doctor’s lounge. She drank straight a cup of water because of stress. She sat down and massaged her head with her eyes closed.

Louve, on the other hand, went to an establishment in the city and went to its basement. She scanned her fingerprint and iris inside the elevator as only registered people can access the basement.

She actually lied to Madison. She wasn’t going to her family, but will have an important meeting with her kinds. Louve is actually a werewolf. The basement is only accessible to werewolves and this establishment is owned by them. It looks like an ordinary company from the outside but it is the headquarters of the werewolves.

As soon as she entered a meeting room, all the werewolves inside greeted her.

“It’s been a while. It’s unfortunate for us to see each other with this news,” she said while settling down in a swivel chair. “Shall we start?”

“Louve, we can’t continue like this anymore.  We need an alpha as soon as possible. The inferior vampires become more aggressive these days. They also found out that until now, we don’t have a leader and they might see it as another opportunity to attack.”

“That’s right. If the daughter of Ahina can’t face us anytime soon and lead us, we have to have you as the alpha.”

“I understand your concerns, however only the daughter of Ahina should be the next Alpha after her. Give me more time until I find a solution to this.”

A big screen in the room turned on and it started playing CCTV footages around the city and countryside.
