Chapter 5.1

- THREE DAYS LATER -

Madison is now at a network studio for the briefing of the talk show where she will be the guest doctor. She entered the studio and politely greeted every staff inside. The show’s director approached Madison and greeted her.

“Doctor Suarez, I finally get to meet you! It’s a pleasure for the show to have you. By the way, I am the show’s production director, you can call me Derick.”

“Nice to meet you, Derick. Thank you for inviting me.”

“Actually, I really wanted you to be on this show. However, I thought that it may be hard to cast the Madison Suarez that is why I didn’t have much expectations.”

“What do you mean the Madison Suarez? I’m just a regular general surgeon.”

“What do you mean regular? Not everyone at your age would accomplish the same things as you did. You’re an icon in the medical field. Anyway, I was really happy to hear that your hospital agreed to send you as our guest. Thank you for coming.”

“It’s a pleasure. I hope you’ll help me; this is a first for me.”

“I’m sure you’ll do great. Anyway, if you’ll excuse me for a moment. I’ll see you again later.”

“Sure, thank you.”

The director left and Madison walked around the studio to observe the settings. Later on, she was escorted to a meeting room where the briefing would take place. Madison heard a staff and the director talking as she settles down in her sit.

“Aleister’s management said that he won’t be able to attend today’s briefing but will still continue his guesting.”

“It’s okay, I’m sure he’s busy filming his movie project with Mallory. Just send him the script for the show’s flow.”

It didn’t take too long before the briefing starts. Everyone introduced their selves and they were briefed about the health topics that they will discuss on the show.

On the other hand, Aleister is currently at a shooting range firing his gun to a target. His best friend, Hunter, approached him.

“There you are. You ditched the briefing for this? Why even bother to learn how to use a gun when you can just fly and use your hand to kill?” Aleister turned and pointed the gun on his friend. Hunter then raised his hand. “Okay, chill bro! Cheez, are you on your period or something? Why so grumpy bro?”

Aleister puts his gun down and removed his shooting earmuffs and proceed to seat on the bench. He drank water before proceeding talking to Hunter.

“Hunter.”

“What? Why are you calling me like that? Every time you call my name with a serious tone it makes me think my life decisions from the past hundred years. What did I do this time?”

“You’re overacting, I’m just going to ask you a question.”

“Still doesn’t calm me down. What are you going to ask?”

“Do you know—” Hunter cuts Aleister’s sentence even before he can finish.

“No, I don’t.” Aleister throws the bottle of water to Hunter and he catches it immediately.

“That is why you get nervous every time I call your name in a serious tone! You know yourself that you’ve been a bad guy from the past five-hundred years!”

“Hey! I was just kidding, and I’m not five-hundred years old! I’m only four-hundred-ninety-nine!”

Aleister just shook his head and continued to ask his question.

“Have you heard anything about the child of the werewolf alpha who died years ago?” Hunter was confused and shock when he heard the question.

“Why are you suddenly asking that question? Your father is going to freak out when he hears you ask that.”

“He’s not here. He did not hear it.”

“I don’t know about that, but to answer your question I honestly don’t know about that much. Like, come on it’s not like you were only born twenty-seven years ago. If you heard nothing about that, what more about me?”

“You know that I wasn’t here twenty-seven years ago, right? I just got back here last year.”

“Oh, right. You were sent abroad.”

“Just tell me anything you know about that. The only thing I heard twenty-seven years ago is that the werewolf alpha died.”

“Let me see what I know.” Hunter sat beside Aleister before speaking again. “A battle between the werewolves and inferior vampires broke out that time. What I know is that the alpha got pregnant by a mortal which caused conflict within the werewolves. Some of them joined the inferiors and attacked the alpha which later on killed her. I don’t know how she died or who killed her. Other than that, I know nothing already. It was just from the gossips but they said the child of the alpha is still alive. Some says the child died. I don’t know, no one knows.”

“How come no one found the child? Can’t them smell the child? Like, we can smell the scent of werewolves and vice versa.”

“There’s a lot more in the story that we don’t know. The only think I’m sure of, is that when that child shows up it might start another war within the immortals.”

“Why do you think so?”

“Because...” Hunter stood up ang looked at Aleister who is still sitting. “No one will easily accept a half-mortal and half-human in our world. Anyway, I have to go. Are you coming?”

Aleister shook his head and stood up. “I’ll leave later.”

“Okay, bye! I’m leaving!”

“Just leave!”

Hunter turned around and walked towards Aleister. “On the second thought, I might just stay a bit more to annoy you.” Aleister’s eyes turned red which made Hunter turned back and walked away. “Cheez! You really need to chill! Why don’t you go for a swim? That’s why you don’t have a girlfriend, you grumpy old vampire! I’ll leave!” he yelled without turning back and quickly left the place.

“Did he just say old? Hah! Who is he calling old?” Aleister said to himself with an annoyed toned. He just wore his shooting earmuffs again and picked his gun and went back to target shooting.

Meanwhile, the briefing for the show has ended and the director offered Madison together with the other cast and staffs to have lunch together. They are now at a restaurant and eating together while having a little discussion.

“So, Madison, what was your secret? You are an icon in the medical field,” said by one of the host, Amanda.

“Nothing, I just worked and studied hard like anybody else.”

“Oh, come on, no one would achieve your achievements that fast. They say that you are a really fast learner. You skipped multiple grade levels, right?”

“More of accelerated, I didn’t skip. Yeah, I’m a fast learner I won’t deny it.”

“So, tell me, who is it?”

“Sorry? I don’t understand.”

“I mean, was it your father? Mother? Or maybe uncle? You know, connections.”

Madison was somehow surprised about the question. At the same time, she felt offended.
