Chapter 4-Decision

I canceled all my appointments, and at that moment, I just wanted to go back home to see my son and hold him close. I left the office that day and ordered my driver to take me back to the pack.

The pack from the city was a four-hour ride from here. I sat back as the driver pulled out of the company, and the ride began. After five hours, I was back at the pack.

As soon as I got to my father's house, I stepped out of the car and walked in. I opened the door to see Marcel playing with his toys. I smiled as he turned and took me in, his eyes widened as he began to run to me.

“Mummy!!!” He screamed, spreading his hands for my acceptance. I wasted no time as I scooped down to his level, and he ran into my arms. I knew he must have been surprised to see me. I had told him the previous day that I would be gone for mostly a week.

As soon as he was in my arms, I kissed his face all over, earning a giggle.

“You lied to me!” He screamed at me as he giggled again.

“No, my love, I came back for some urgent matter,” I whispered in his ears.

“Will you stay a while, pleaseeee?” he begged, and I giggled and nodded.

I carried him into the house, and it wasn’t long until I saw my father coming out from the kitchen. He was wearing an apron, and for his status, it looked funny. Ever since my reunion with my father, he had loved Marcel and given him all the attention. Marcel didn’t have to feel he didn’t have a father because my dad had made sure he felt so among.

I know he was trying to make up for the years he lost in my life. When I resumed work, I had suggested he gets a nanny, but he was so against it and took responsibility for all of Marcel's needs. Sometimes he pays me no mind and gives all his attention to Marcel.

“Hey kiddo,” he said, and I could smell the aroma of the buns he was holding.

“Hi, daddy,” I said as I walked to him and landed a kiss on his cheek, with Marcel in my arms. He looked at me, and he knew immediately something was wrong as I nodded at him.

“Grandpa, can I have my buns now, please?” Marcel cried out in my arms, and we laughed at him.

“Yes, little man, let me keep it on the table for you,” my dad replied as he walked over to a little dining table and placed a plate there. Without asking, I let Marcel out of my arms, and he wasted no time running to his seat.

“Enjoy your buns, my love,” I called out as he put it in his mouth, while looking up at me with a smile.

“Thanks, grandpa, thanks, mum,” he replied.

Soon as we knew he was set and wouldn’t need anything, my father held my hands as he led me to the living room.

“I can tell from the moment you stepped in here you look like shit,” he said. I broke down immediately. My father knew and saw the weakest part of me. After he found me, I was a mess. I would cry every day out of pain or rejection, and he would be there to comfort me. I didn’t even have time to look after Marcel as I was depressed, but my father stepped in for us.

“Hey, hey, hey…what’s wrong?” He asked, and I held him while crying gently. I didn’t want to get Marcel's attention.

“She came, father, I saw her,” I said.

“Who came?” My father asked.

“Ravana, she came looking for a job at the company,” I let out, and I could see how shocked he was. From there, I let everything out, telling him everything from the beginning. When I was done, he comforted me.

“You know, you can send her away,” he suggested.

“No, father, she must pay for all the things she had done to me,” I said angrily.

“Child, don’t get lost in this revenge theory, it wouldn’t end well. Leave it to the goddess to serve her dish, and don’t get involved in it,” he advised, but I was far gone in my quest for revenge. My father was a calm man and someone who believed in the will of the goddess, even when he found me. He had all the potential and wealth to attack Enzo’s pack, but he refused.

He had said he left it for the goddess to deal with him. But I wasn’t like that. I was going to seek my revenge and watch her suffer in my very eyes.

“No, dad, I have made a choice,” I replied, putting an end to him trying to change my mind.

“Okay, child, I respect your decision,” he replied.

“Which reminds me…Enzo called this morning,” he added, and I sat up at the name Enzo. What would he be calling father for?

“What for?” I spat out with so much hate. I knew that Enzo had no idea where I was and who had taken me that night. My father made sure of that. He wanted to make sure I had my peace, and Marcel grew up in a peaceful environment.

“Turns out, he has a large number of pack members, and his pack is broke,” Dad replied, and I nodded. Everyone knows that Enzo had picked up a fight with every pack there is. He had defeated three pack Alphas in the past five years and added his pack to theirs, and now he was out of resources to keep the pack going.

“Well, serves him right,” I replied. Without asking, I knew my father didn’t help him out. Ever since what had happened, my father had built a large, formidable wall around his pack, and to add to that, my father had the wealthiest pack there is. Though our pack members were fewer in numbers, we were also warrior wolves.

I stood up, about to go to my room for a quick bath and nap, but just as I stood up, my father held my hands.

“Child,” he called out, and I looked at him. His eyes held a little bit of guilt.

“What’s wrong, dad?” I asked.

“I received another call today again,” he said, and I froze. Could it be Enzo who had found me?

“Is it Enzo? Has he found me?" I panicked.

My dad stood up and held me.

“No, it’s not,” he replied, and I calmed down.

“My old friend called. He was the Alpha of the snow wolves,” dad added.

I became calm and confused. Why was he so scared to tell me what was going on?

“Have a seat, child,” he said, and I took a chair, curiosity killing me at the moment.

My father took a seat beside me and reached out to take my hands.

“I want you to listen to me and don’t say a word till I’m done,” he requested, and I nodded.

“My old friend called because he has a son who is an alpha, Leo. Leo's mate rejected him when he was young, and it’s been years. He made me a proposal for you, child. He thinks if you two are mates, it would be good for both our packs,” my father said, and my body stilled.

“No, father, you know I’m still healing. I don’t think I can stand another man again,” I responded, shaking my head.

“I won't be around forever. My bones are getting weaker by the day. I want to leave this earth knowing you're in safe hands. Our walls can’t keep us safe forever. Enzo is growing stronger every day, and he is just next door. I have pissed him off so much, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he attacks to take everything from me. I would rather die than see him do so,” my father responded, and for the first time, I could see how vulnerable he was.

He was doing this for my sake and Marcel’s. I knew he was right. We all know Enzo would be coming for us soon, and we’ll have to be ready. Leo has the largest pack that rivals Enzo two times, and that would put everyone in the right position.

“Okay, father, I’ll think of this,” I replied as my hands massaged my head.

“Oh, you better, because they will be here in the evening,” he responded, and my eyes widened.
