Camilla’s POV
It was evening, and I had just been informed that Alpha Leo and his family had arrived in our territory, and Father had gone to escort them. As much as I am against this union, I know it is necessary for the safety of the pack, my child, and myself.I stood in front of the mirror, checking myself one more time. I wore an off-shoulder dress that reached my knees, and I had my hair pulled up to show off my long neck.I hoped the night would bring more grace and joy from the goddess. I had heard rumors about the Snow Wolves Alpha, none of which were negative. The door swung open, and I knew without a doubt it was Marcel. He was the only one who barged into my room without bothering to knock, not that it mattered. He dashed in, a toy clutched tightly in his little hands."Mummy, look!" he exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement.I turned towards him, a smile spreading across my face. "What is it, sweetheart?" I asked, bending down to his level. With a mischievous grin, Marcel opened his mouth wide, revealing a gap where one of his teeth used to be. I couldn't help but gasp in surprise. "Oh, baby, your tooth has fallen out!" I exclaimed, both amazed and touched by this.Marcel giggled gleefully. "Yes, mummy! And I put it under my pillow for the tooth fairy to come get it just like grandpa told me to," he explained proudly.I chuckled softly, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over me. "That's wonderful, sweetheart," I said, gently ruffling his hair.As I lifted him up into my arms, Marcel looked up at me with big, pleading eyes. "Mama, are you going out again?" he asked, his voice tinged with disappointment.I shook my head, smiling fondly at his eagerness. "No, baby, we're having guests downstairs and I wouldn’t be going anywhere," I replied, trying to sound firm yet gentle.Marcel's face fell momentarily, but then he brightened up again."Can I join you?" he asked eagerly.I couldn't help but laugh at his persistence. "It's close to your bedtime, sweetheart, and besides, you have to wake up early to help grandpa in the office," I reminded him gently. I knew of his habit of tending to my father in his office. My father had mentioned times without number that the pack would certainly go to Marcel when he passed on, as he had already started showing alpha characteristics. So, he took it upon himself to train him for his forthcoming duties."But I don't want to sleep, please!" Marcel pleaded, his bottom lip jutting out in a pout. I didn’t want to bring him along just yet as I didn’t know how our guest would react. Before I could respond, the door creaked open once more, and our maid stepped into the room, looking slightly flustered."Sorry for interrupting, but the alpha has arrived with the guest," she announced, her voice apologetic.I nodded in understanding, giving her a reassuring smile. "Thank you, Maria," I said gratefully.I knew Marcel would throw a fit, so I agreed to bring him along to dinner. With Marcel still in my arms, I made my way out of the room and descended the stairs towards the dining area. As we approached, the sound of voices grew louder, and Marcel began to wriggle excitedly in my arms.Sensing his eagerness, I gently lowered him to the ground, and he took off running towards the dining room, his footsteps echoing on the polished marble floors.I followed closely behind, a smile playing on my lips as I watched Marcel dart around the corner and into the room. Just as I entered, I heard his excited voice ring out.Papa! Guess what? I lost my tooth!" he exclaimed, his eyes alight with excitement.I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, his face flushed with joy as he proudly announced his news to my father, who was seated at the head of the table. As Marcel chartered away animatedly, I took a moment to survey the room and take stock of our guests. I could see that they were already seated and waiting for dinner.Sitting opposite my father was an older man who I assumed was my father's friend, and close to him was an older woman who I assumed was his mate. And then my eyes fell on Leo; he turned to meet my gaze, and I could feel my eyes flash. The whole room gasped. I stood there shocked. We had just experienced a shock, which meant that Leo was my mate.“How,” I heard Leo whisper as he stood up from his seat and walked to me. I looked up at his imposing height. He had blonde hair which stopped at his shoulders and blue eyes which seemed to shine brighter as he approached me. His chest was packed with muscles which showed off his effort in the gym, and he was handsome.Whatever the trick the moon goddess is playing, I don’t understand. It turns out she had matched me with Leo as my mate. Though Enzo wasn’t my fated mate, we had built up a matebond. As soon as Leo reached me, he reached out and held my hand in his, sparks flew as he touched me, something I had missed for so many years.“The goddess sure has her ways. It’s an honor to meet you,” he said. His voice was the deepest and manliest voice I have ever heard.“It’s an honor to meet you too,” I replied as we went along and took our seats. My father and Leo’s father congratulated me and Leo on our bond. Except his mother, she sat still as she drank wine from her cup, refusing to meet my eyes and not saying a word. The men carried on with conversations on pack politics, and I could see Leo’s eyes slip to me every once in a while. I wiggled in my seat from his gaze. I was confused and scared. I wasn’t healed from my past relationships, and now the goddess decided to throw another mate my way.“Alpha Leo, welcome to the family,” my father said to Leo, and I could see him grin.“Thank you, Alpha Matt. Your approval means everything to me. I would do everything to make your daughter happy,” he said. I could see my father's eyes glow with happiness.“Papa, can I go to the toilet?” Marcel said to my father.“Oh child, go get Maria to help you,” I answered him as he ran off to get her.“And you get a broken one, huh?” Leo's mother, whose name I have come to know as Evelyn, said. I was broken by her words. Her words hit me hard, but how dare she. I knew she had no right to decide what went wrong in my former relationship. Before I could give her a piece of my mind, mother-in-law or not.“What did you say to me?” I asked her, and I could feel the men freeze with tension. I wanted her to say it loudly before I could react.“My son would not go for a discarded woman, a broken one with a kid at that,” she snapped at me. I didn’t have an opportunity to reply when her mate said.“Evelyn, enough!!” Leo’s father scolded her as he looked at her with an angry gaze. Meanwhile, Leo seemed so shocked by his mother's outbursts.“Don’t tell me what to do, Clinton,” she snapped back at her mate.“Mother, the goddess has decided. You can’t have a say in this matter,” Leo replied.“The goddess decided your former mate, and you dumped her. You can surely leave this one. I’m sure the goddess would give you another one,” she replied.I just didn’t have the strength for this as I picked myself up from the seat and ran out of the dining.“Camilla, wait,” Leo called out, but I wasn’t intending on stopping. His mother had just opened up my old wounds again.Camilla’s POVI went up to my room and slammed the door behind me. Just as I went in, I heard a knock on my bedroom door.I knew from the scent that it was Leo. I wanted to turn him away, but it wouldn’t be nice.“Come in,” I called out. The door opened and he came in, smiling at me.“Hey!” He said.“Hi,” I responded. We probably were behaving like teenagers. I was shy, but he seemed bold enough to approach me.“Can I sit?” He asked.“Sure,” I responded, and he sat on my bed.“Look, I know it’s awkward, but I want to apologize for what my mother said in the dining room,” he apologized, just as I had expected.“It’s fine. One can be judged by saying how they should feel,” I answered.“No, what she did was wrong, and I wouldn’t stand for it. You must have had a misunderstanding with your mate, and that's fine. It’s not in her place to judge you,” he responded, and I knew he was a sensible wolf.“What can I say? Thanks,” I responded. We sat there awkwardly for what seemed like an eternity
Camilla’s POVI watched her freeze from my outburst. What does she mean by she was not the Luna of the pack?“I want every detail, or you can get your stuff and get out of my company,” I said angrily.“After the Alpha’s mate abandoned him, he took me in as Luna and I assumed my responsibility in the pack. Three years ago, he kicked me out of the position and left me to fend for myself. I was used and abandoned to fend for myself. Please give me this chance, no one on pack lands would hire me. Please, I really need this job,” she pleaded, and I held back my laughter. It was obvious she was trying to get pity from me, but I was far from that. I can’t even believe her story as it may not be true, or she was looking for a way to get me to favor her, but she got it all wrong. She would never have my pity or sympathy.“I have heard you, Ravana, and my condition hasn't changed. You are to follow whatever instructions that are being given to you in this office. If you do not like this, you're
Camilla’s POVI could feel my eyes widen. I knew of Enzo and Ravana's relationship from the beginning, but I never knew how deep it was. Hearing this made me hate them all the more.Enzo must have known how hurt Leo would be, and he took his mate right in front of him. It is one of the most painful things that could happen to anyone. I saw Leo, and I knew he was strong. One could tell he had just told me his worst experience, and yet he remained strong.“I…I…..” I tried to say, and he cut me off.“Don’t apologize, I hate it when someone does that in a situation like this,” he responded, and I swallowed my words.“I don’t know what to say,” I responded.“You don’t have to,” he replied.“It’s the worst thing that I have ever heard happen to anyone. I know hearing sorry may hurt, but I want you to know that you don’t have to regret anything. The goddess always knew what she was doing,” I said to him, and I could see him lean back in his seat.“No, Ravana, the goddess mocked me. I remembe
Camilla's POVEver since the incident at the office, Revana returned the next day and apologized for her actions. I let her back because I wasn't done with her, and something told me she was up to something.I knew she was helpless, and this was probably the only job she had seen so far with good pay and benefits. I just knew I had to be careful, so I banned her from coming into my office and demoted her to a receptionist on my floor. That was the punishment I gave her for her actions the previous day.But in reality, I didn’t want her near me anymore, so she wouldn’t find something in my office to use against me, and I limited her interactions with other workers. She accepted her punishment without question, which left me wondering.Did she know who I was? Was this all an act to get me into a situation I couldn’t predict? What was her reaction behind her coming back here? I was alert and conscious. When I broke the news to Erica, she was far from shocked and she congratulated me. On t
Camilla’s POVThe day of the feast arrived, and I stood before the mirror in my room. I wore a red gown that hugged my figure, exposing every curve of my body. A diamond necklace shimmered around my neck, a gift from my father on my last birthday. The makeup artist and hair stylist worked on transforming me into an elegant lady, and I couldn't help but smile back at my reflection as I admired myself.Just then, Marcel burst into the room, his high spirits evident as his laughter echoed off the walls of my room. My father was coming for the ball, and we had no choice but to bring him along.“Careful, Marcel,” I called out, trying to contain my amusement. I could see how happy he was.“You don’t want to hurt yourself, and that would mean no feast for you tonight,” I added, and he froze where he stood, wearing a little suit paired with a red tie.He walked towards me and looked up at me. “Sorry, mother,” he apologized, and I giggled because I could see how excited he was to go to the feas
Camilla’s POVThere he stood in all his glory, the man I have loved and hated for years. He wore a suit that hugged his frame and I could see what five years have done to him. His hair was longer to the point of his shoulders and his face was that of a man now, the muscles on his body were bigger than the last time I saw him and he stood taller. He was just a boy when we split up, now he is a man. I was scared he would recognize me right away, but I was also worried about what he would do.Would he kill me? Ignore me? Or talk to me like a normal person? I didn't just wait to find out, I also didn't want him near me. As he swept through the crowd, the crowd parted for him without him asking. Soon he stopped and spoke with an older Alpha.“Oh my God, he grows hotter every session,” one of the girls said and I rolled my eyes. I looked back to Leo who stood tall talking to another Alpha, but his eyes were staring at something and when I followed his line of sight, it fell on Enzo.He wasn
The next time I woke up, it was morning.Blinking away the remnants of sleep, my gaze settled on Marcel. Who was peacefully sleeping on the bed besides me. A small smile spread on my lip as I reached out to brush a stray strand of hair away from his face. The event of yesterday hit me, which confirms my suspicion that My son was alive. And I couldn’t wait to see him and hold him in my arms again. As I lie there, lost in thought the door creaks open, and Matt came into the room. He held a tray of food in his hands, His warm smile is a comforting sight as he greets me.“Hi kiddo!, you were knocked out for a long time” he said.“We’re back home, in the park.” I said as I looked around my room.“We had no choice, you were unconscious and i needed to bring you home to rest to process the news” Matt responded and sigh.“He really is alive father, all these years I mourned for the death of the child that was alive” i cried out as my father dropped the food on the bed stand as he comfort me.
As I stepped into the office, I came face to face with Enzo. He seemed to hold a normal expression on his face. I stood at the door, not knowing what to do. The last time we saw each other, he had sworn to kill me.“Have a seat, Camilla,” he said. I moved and took a seat in a chair that faced him. I looked around the office and not much had changed, except for pictures that had been added to the wall. Baby pictures which were pictures of my son.We sat quietly, and I could feel tension fill the air. I avoided looking at him as I stared at my fingers.“Camilla,” he called out, and I looked at him. I could see him looking at me, not out of anger or anything else.“I know that things ended in an ugly way between us. I was young and reckless , and I made a lot of mistakes. I treated you the worst ways possible, and I accused you of killing my father,” he began. My eyes widened. I knew what was coming next, but I couldn't believe it. Enzo wasn't one to apologize. He probably just wanted to
