Camilla’s POV
I went up to my room and slammed the door behind me. Just as I went in, I heard a knock on my bedroom door.I knew from the scent that it was Leo. I wanted to turn him away, but it wouldn’t be nice.“Come in,” I called out. The door opened and he came in, smiling at me.“Hey!” He said.“Hi,” I responded. We probably were behaving like teenagers. I was shy, but he seemed bold enough to approach me.“Can I sit?” He asked.“Sure,” I responded, and he sat on my bed.“Look, I know it’s awkward, but I want to apologize for what my mother said in the dining room,” he apologized, just as I had expected.“It’s fine. One can be judged by saying how they should feel,” I answered.“No, what she did was wrong, and I wouldn’t stand for it. You must have had a misunderstanding with your mate, and that's fine. It’s not in her place to judge you,” he responded, and I knew he was a sensible wolf.“What can I say? Thanks,” I responded. We sat there awkwardly for what seemed like an eternity.“So… about the mate bond, I hope you’re not overwhelmed. I promise to give you all the love and commitment a wolf should give his mate, if you would have me,” he said. But I knew I wasn’t ready. Other wolves would fall into each other's arms and may even mate the same time they found themselves, but that isn’t me.“I want this, and I need this bond. But I have to think of my son and everything that is going on in my life. Let’s take it slow. I had just picked up my life here, and it seemed impossible to move now. And Marcel, I can’t leave him. He loves it here and…” I rambled on about my worries, and he reached out to hold my hands. Sparks flew from his touch, and I held back a moan.“It’s okay. Your father already told me not to rush you, and I completely understand. You will come when you’re ready. I wouldn’t try to force you,” he said, and I looked at him with adoration. Father must have spoken to him, which left me with the question of how much he knows. But I know it wouldn’t be nice to ask him that, so I appreciated him.“Thank you,” I whispered, and he took my hands to his lips and gave it a kiss.“If you don’t mind me asking, why did you reject your mate?” I asked out of curiosity. His mother had mentioned it, and I was curious enough to ask.“I didn’t reject her, she rejected me,” he replied, and I looked at him in shock. No she-wolf would be stupid enough to reject him. He wasn’t any ordinary wolf but an Alpha. And he wasn’t lacking in looks either.“What happened?” I asked. I could see his brow furrowed, and I could see him getting angry. He seemed lost in thought.“Look, I’m sorry about it. You can keep it to yourself if you want,” I said, and I could see him shake his head.“No, I would tell you soon enough, but not today,” he responded, and I nodded. I felt like we had both been hurt by our ex-mates. The topic of his old mate changed his mood.“It’s cool, I understand,” I replied.Soon after that, we exchanged small talk, and he ended up making me laugh. We exchanged numbers, and he retired for the night. The next morning came, and I called Erica and told her I would skip today for work and also informed her to call Revana to start the following day. Father told me that morning that Leo and his family had left earlier that morning, and Leo promised to give me a call. The rest of the day I had spent it with my son, and by evening, I wished him goodbye as I traveled back to the city for work the next day.The next day, I was in my office when Revana walked in. She had started her work as my personal assistant, and I had briefed Erica on what to be done with her.“Oh, Revana, what brings you to my office?” I asked her.“I’m sorry, but there are a lot of files to attend to, and Erica informed me to get them ready by tomorrow. Will it be possible if I drop some?” She asked.“No, those files need to be delivered tomorrow. You would have to review all of them,” I said, and I could see her frown, not that I cared.“But that would mean I need to work all night,” she replied.“Then do it, or you can quit if the job doesn’t suit your station. Here, we work hard, and we don’t feel redundant in our job,” I said, and I could see her frown. I said that I didn't care if she quit.I had informed Erica to give her twice the workload of the job. I wanted to make it hard for her here, and so far, it was going well.I wasn’t going to kill her, but I was going to make her time miserable here. I knew something was fishy in her story. There was no way she had come here to work just like that. Enzo must have pushed her out.“This is unfair. Erica told me my duty is to attend to every one of the other workers here. This is not the job description, but it’s more like slavery,” she cried out, and I scoffed.“Your mate is an Alpha. You can quit. I’m sure your pack will provide for you as Luna,” I replied.“You don’t understand them. Alpha Enzo doesn’t…” She said, and I could see sorrow in her eyes.“Alpha Enzo, what?” I asked.“I’m sorry I lied to you, but I am not the Luna of my pack,” she whispered as she bowed her head shamefully.“What!!!!” I screamed at the top of my voice as I stood up from my seat.Camilla’s POVI watched her freeze from my outburst. What does she mean by she was not the Luna of the pack?“I want every detail, or you can get your stuff and get out of my company,” I said angrily.“After the Alpha’s mate abandoned him, he took me in as Luna and I assumed my responsibility in the pack. Three years ago, he kicked me out of the position and left me to fend for myself. I was used and abandoned to fend for myself. Please give me this chance, no one on pack lands would hire me. Please, I really need this job,” she pleaded, and I held back my laughter. It was obvious she was trying to get pity from me, but I was far from that. I can’t even believe her story as it may not be true, or she was looking for a way to get me to favor her, but she got it all wrong. She would never have my pity or sympathy.“I have heard you, Ravana, and my condition hasn't changed. You are to follow whatever instructions that are being given to you in this office. If you do not like this, you're
Camilla’s POVI could feel my eyes widen. I knew of Enzo and Ravana's relationship from the beginning, but I never knew how deep it was. Hearing this made me hate them all the more.Enzo must have known how hurt Leo would be, and he took his mate right in front of him. It is one of the most painful things that could happen to anyone. I saw Leo, and I knew he was strong. One could tell he had just told me his worst experience, and yet he remained strong.“I…I…..” I tried to say, and he cut me off.“Don’t apologize, I hate it when someone does that in a situation like this,” he responded, and I swallowed my words.“I don’t know what to say,” I responded.“You don’t have to,” he replied.“It’s the worst thing that I have ever heard happen to anyone. I know hearing sorry may hurt, but I want you to know that you don’t have to regret anything. The goddess always knew what she was doing,” I said to him, and I could see him lean back in his seat.“No, Ravana, the goddess mocked me. I remembe
Camilla's POVEver since the incident at the office, Revana returned the next day and apologized for her actions. I let her back because I wasn't done with her, and something told me she was up to something.I knew she was helpless, and this was probably the only job she had seen so far with good pay and benefits. I just knew I had to be careful, so I banned her from coming into my office and demoted her to a receptionist on my floor. That was the punishment I gave her for her actions the previous day.But in reality, I didn’t want her near me anymore, so she wouldn’t find something in my office to use against me, and I limited her interactions with other workers. She accepted her punishment without question, which left me wondering.Did she know who I was? Was this all an act to get me into a situation I couldn’t predict? What was her reaction behind her coming back here? I was alert and conscious. When I broke the news to Erica, she was far from shocked and she congratulated me. On t
Camilla’s POVThe day of the feast arrived, and I stood before the mirror in my room. I wore a red gown that hugged my figure, exposing every curve of my body. A diamond necklace shimmered around my neck, a gift from my father on my last birthday. The makeup artist and hair stylist worked on transforming me into an elegant lady, and I couldn't help but smile back at my reflection as I admired myself.Just then, Marcel burst into the room, his high spirits evident as his laughter echoed off the walls of my room. My father was coming for the ball, and we had no choice but to bring him along.“Careful, Marcel,” I called out, trying to contain my amusement. I could see how happy he was.“You don’t want to hurt yourself, and that would mean no feast for you tonight,” I added, and he froze where he stood, wearing a little suit paired with a red tie.He walked towards me and looked up at me. “Sorry, mother,” he apologized, and I giggled because I could see how excited he was to go to the feas
Camilla’s POVThere he stood in all his glory, the man I have loved and hated for years. He wore a suit that hugged his frame and I could see what five years have done to him. His hair was longer to the point of his shoulders and his face was that of a man now, the muscles on his body were bigger than the last time I saw him and he stood taller. He was just a boy when we split up, now he is a man. I was scared he would recognize me right away, but I was also worried about what he would do.Would he kill me? Ignore me? Or talk to me like a normal person? I didn't just wait to find out, I also didn't want him near me. As he swept through the crowd, the crowd parted for him without him asking. Soon he stopped and spoke with an older Alpha.“Oh my God, he grows hotter every session,” one of the girls said and I rolled my eyes. I looked back to Leo who stood tall talking to another Alpha, but his eyes were staring at something and when I followed his line of sight, it fell on Enzo.He wasn
The next time I woke up, it was morning.Blinking away the remnants of sleep, my gaze settled on Marcel. Who was peacefully sleeping on the bed besides me. A small smile spread on my lip as I reached out to brush a stray strand of hair away from his face. The event of yesterday hit me, which confirms my suspicion that My son was alive. And I couldn’t wait to see him and hold him in my arms again. As I lie there, lost in thought the door creaks open, and Matt came into the room. He held a tray of food in his hands, His warm smile is a comforting sight as he greets me.“Hi kiddo!, you were knocked out for a long time” he said.“We’re back home, in the park.” I said as I looked around my room.“We had no choice, you were unconscious and i needed to bring you home to rest to process the news” Matt responded and sigh.“He really is alive father, all these years I mourned for the death of the child that was alive” i cried out as my father dropped the food on the bed stand as he comfort me.
As I stepped into the office, I came face to face with Enzo. He seemed to hold a normal expression on his face. I stood at the door, not knowing what to do. The last time we saw each other, he had sworn to kill me.“Have a seat, Camilla,” he said. I moved and took a seat in a chair that faced him. I looked around the office and not much had changed, except for pictures that had been added to the wall. Baby pictures which were pictures of my son.We sat quietly, and I could feel tension fill the air. I avoided looking at him as I stared at my fingers.“Camilla,” he called out, and I looked at him. I could see him looking at me, not out of anger or anything else.“I know that things ended in an ugly way between us. I was young and reckless , and I made a lot of mistakes. I treated you the worst ways possible, and I accused you of killing my father,” he began. My eyes widened. I knew what was coming next, but I couldn't believe it. Enzo wasn't one to apologize. He probably just wanted to
I froze and glared at Enzo as he smirked down at me.“You can’t keep me here, I have a son waiting for me back home,” I said.“And you have a son here, who hasn't seen you in forever and you promised him you wouldn’t leave anymore, and I wouldn’t let you break his heart,” Enzo said.“You can’t make me abandon my son,” I replied.“No, he will be joining us soon. I have sent a message to your father to deliver him to my doorstep tomorrow, as you wouldn’t be coming home to him anymore, and I need my mate and both my children in the same place,” he said. I let out a laugh. He was a lunatic if he thought my father would give up Marcel just like that to him.“You're a fool if you think my father would give up Marcel to you like that,” I responded with a smirk.“Oh, I know he wouldn’t, which is why I have brought my bombs for the raid,” he said as he smirked at me. He was going to bomb the walls of our pack. I knew it wouldn’t take him anything to invade our pack and take our son and leave m
