Chapter 3- Revenge

Camilla’s POV

Five years later

It felt like yesterday when everything went down between me and Enzo, after I had left the pack. I had woken up in a strange location, and everything was revealed to me.

It turned out that soon after the Alpha died, my father got news of everything that went down. He attacked the pack with a group of his men and got me and my son out.

I had grown up as an orphan who was found outside the Blood Crown territory. I was taken in by Alpha Marcel as his ward and had grown under him. The old man thought it would be a good idea to mate me and his son together. According to what my father told me, he said there was a war, in his pack, which led my mother had take me away and die on her way to the Blood Crown pack, which made me be taken in by Alpha Marcel as his ward.

It happened that my father had found out about me a few months ago and had contacted Alpha Marcel before his death. But everything fell apart when he died. My father got word of what had happened to me and came to my rescue, bringing my only living son with me.

The five years that have gone by have been nothing but blissful. My father turned out to be one of the wealthiest men on the continent. He was a wealthy Alpha, and I had inherited his company two years ago.

Today was just another day at the office, and I had woken up earlier than usual. After a quick bath and putting on my office wear, I left for work.

The name of my company was Aerofusion Dynamies. We dealt with advancing aerospace technology with aircraft design and manufacturing of aircraft too. The headquarters was where I was heading now, and it was located at the center of New York City.

As soon as I was done, I stepped into my sleek black vehicle, and my driver began to glide through the city streets, carrying me toward my company.

I had recently been away for two weeks, being back to my father’s pack, which was a few miles from here. My two weeks were spent with cherished memories with my son and my father. I had named my son Marcel, after his grandfather. Even after everything Alpha Marcel had been like a father to me and had protected me when he was alive.

And I kept my son Marcel with my father back at the pack, where he would have the pack’s love and wouldn’t have to be faced or feel neglected back here in New York as I was a workaholic.

As soon as I exited the vehicle and walked into my company, I could see several familiar faces, that of humans too and most of my pack members who had left home to work here. A nod and smile were exchanged as I made my way up to the company's building.

I made my way to the elevator before I could step in. My secretary, Erica, rushed towards me. Her face lit up with a warm smile from seeing me as she embraced me in a tight hug.

A genuine laugh escaped my lips. I could tell she missed my company. She was the only one I had close to a friend here, and I appreciated her.

"I missed you," she confessed as we pulled away from the hug.

"I missed you too," I replied, returning the sentiment. It was good to be back, surrounded by familiar faces.

As we entered the Elevator, Erica pressed the button for our destination. The metallic doors closed. She turned to me, her eyes filled with genuine concern.

"How are you doing? Hope Marcel is doing okay?" she asked, looking concerned. She was like an Aunty that Marcel never had, and we would offer to visit him and take him back to the pack.

"I'm very fine, and don’t you worry. Marcel is doing alright and had asked for you to visit him," I reassured her with a smile.

“Oh my sweet little boy, I missed him so much. Seems like I would have to stop by this weekend. My parents are also asking for my attention back home,” she replied, and I turned to her, touching her. Erica had lost two of her siblings in a rogue attack a year ago, and it’s been tough for her.

“Make sure to stop by then, take all the time you need,” I tell her, and I can see her try to stop the tears from rolling down. She was the strongest and sweetest person I know, even when everything had gone down with her, she held herself strong for the sake of her family.

“It’s okay, Camilla. I’ll be fine,” she said with a smile. Her smile widened, and she lifted a note in her hands. I couldn't help but roll my eyes playfully. Erica had always been diligent about keeping me informed, especially about my schedule. And now I am back, I could tell there will be a lot on my schedule.

"Got the rundown for you, and do you have a long list of what is to be done," she said, a teasing glint in her eyes.

“Drop it already,” I said, sounding tired already.

"You have an interview today for the personal assistant position. That will be your first task for today,” she said, and I smiled at her. My old personal assistant had found her mate a month ago and had to leave to join her mate's pack.

Nodding at her, The lift doors opened, revealing the bustling floor of our corporate headquarters. People greeted me as I walked through the space. I could tell by the smiles and greetings that they were happy to have me back here.

The day was already in full swing, and I found myself immersed in a whirlwind of meetings with the applicants for the position of personal assistant.

I sat through my office as I interviewed all the potential candidates for the position. When I started to get exhausted, the door opened for the next applicant. I focused on reviewing the application of the previous applicant that I had interviewed, not paying mind as I felt someone sit in front of me.

“Good morning, ma,” the voice said, and I froze. I will never forget that voice. The voice behind my nightmares for many years and pain in the past. I looked up, and I was surprised to see Ravena. She looked pretty as usual, her long hair packed in a ponytail, and she wore a corporate shirt and pant trousers, giving her a look of professionalism.

She stared at me, confused, as I looked at her. I knew she wouldn’t recognize me anymore. I had always been overweight before now, and the past five years had involved me working on my body. Now I had curves in the right places. I also underwent some surgery for my nose and cheekbones, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t recognize me.

I sat up straight as I smiled at her. She was, after all, my applicant.

“Oh, sorry, it’s just that you look like someone I had known,” I lied as she stared at me, scanning me from head to toe just to see what I was all about. When she was done, she smiled at me, showing her set of perfect white teeth.

“Oh, it’s okay. I get that a lot. I am Ravena,” she said, and I smiled at her.

“You look like someone I used to know too, only prettier,” she added, and I smiled at her comment. If only she knows.

“Okay, back to business. First and foremost, what made you leave your pack to come here for work?” I asked her. It was a normal thing I asked my applicants when they came to work, mostly the werewolves that had recently crossed their pack lands looking for work.

“Oh, my pack.. well. My Mate had encouraged me to find work out here. My pack, you see, is going through financial struggles, and members of my pack are encouraged to work outside pack lands as of now,” she said with pride.

I knew of the financial situation of the Blood Crown pack. After all, they were my pack’s neighbors.

A few weeks ago, my father informed me that Enzo had reached out to him for financial help, but he had declined. It was well known that Enzo had spent all his resources on war and gathering territories.

He wouldn’t dare attack our territory or pack. He knew that my pack was also a war pack, which was populated and rich. Though we weren’t as populated as Enzo’s pack.

It was no secret that my father had a good relationship with mercenaries, one of the deadliest on the continent.

“What’s your position in the pack?” I asked.

“I am Luna, and I want to lead by example for my pack members,” she said with a smile.

“Here are my qualifications,” she added as she pushed a brown envelope to me. I knew very well she had failed this interview already from the time she walked in. But something in me burned. I couldn’t let her go just yet. I could tell she was still as cocky as before, rude, and I needed to know if she killed my son.

“You know what?” I asked.

“What?” she replied with a smirk.

“I will keep you informed by tomorrow,” I replied, taking the envelope from her. She was the worst applicant I had seen today, but I knew I would call her back.

“Okay,” she said as she stood up. The button of her shirt was opened, and I could see one of her breasts popping out. My eyes widened in realization of what she was trying to do.

I could tell by the smirk on her face that she was trying to seduce me, but I kept it in.

“Good day, ma,” she replied as she walked out.

As soon as she walked out, I called in Erica. I could see Erica rushing into the office. As soon as she laid eyes on me, her eyes widened. I was distraught, but I managed to hold myself back together. After all, it’s been five years. I couldn't let her break me now. Instead, I vowed revenge. I would tear her apart bit by bit. I would make her feel worse than how she made me feel.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Erica voiced out, drawing me out of my anger.

“Yes, send all the other applicants home,” I requested, and I could see her eyes widen at my request.

“But you have only interviewed nine persons. The rest may feel neglected,” she said.

“I don’t care,” I screamed as I stood to my feet, putting my hands on my desk. I could see Erica's eyes widen at me. I had never acted this way around her, neither had I shouted at her, and I felt so guilty. She was only doing her job.

“Erica, I'm sorry,” I said, and I could see her unfreeze from her shock as she looked into my eyes and nodded.

“Just send everyone else home and cancel all my appointments. I would love to be left alone for today,” I told her calmly, and I could see her nod again and leave my office. I let out a sigh as I collapsed on my chair.

I was going to make Ravena regret all the things she had done to me, and she was going to pay for killing my son.
