A cabin by a lake for the summer with barely a soul in sight sounds like the perfect place to disappear to for eight weeks. Just me and my laptop, writing my next bestseller. Away from the city and the drama. My plans soon change on my first day here, all because of a handsome stranger who turns out not to be as much as a stranger as I thought. Sound's complicated, right? I didn't come here to get involved with anyone, the opposite really, but Kyson has a way to get to me easily, one which isn't so easy to fight especially when he is next door for the entire summer. I could resist, I should resist, but it is hard to fight chemistry, lust and connection, all things we seemed to share. I didn't think when I came here my summer would change everything and not all for the best.

Chapter One - A cabin by the lake
Arya  I had arrived at my family’s lake cabin after a five-hour drive. I will be spending the entire summer here, so eight weeks. It had been in my family for generations. We spent our summer vacation here when I was a kid with my parents, younger sister Demi and my older brother Nathan. But as the years passed and we got older, our parents got older, we stopped coming. My siblings have their own families now. I chose to come here for two reasons: first, I have had a rough few months, and secondly, I have a book to write before my publisher drops me. I have written a few best-sellers, but I haven’t had a new book in a while, and I had to change that. I love this place; it is so beautiful. It is surrounded by woodland, nature, a vast, beautiful lake, and there were only another five cabins in the area. There is

Chapter Two - My first crush!
Kyson  I had just sat down with a scotch on the porch, enjoying the cool, fresh air. It is so peaceful here. My cell vibrates on the table next to me. I glance over and see a text with a number that isn’t stored in my contact, but the second I open it, I realise who it is. Arya! I read the text and smile because I am glad she has finally worked out who I am. I quickly save her number before texting back. I thought my hint would have jogged your memory ;) x I am not surprised she doesn’t remember me, though. I am a completely different person now. I was a skinny idiot back then with glasses and spots. I had no confidence and was awkward as hell. I never did understand why Arya wanted to kiss me. I had a crush on her from the first summer we met. We were friends, and I thought that was all we would ever have been until she kissed me.

Chapter Three - Maybe he can be my inspiration
Arya  It took me a moment to remember where I was when I woke. I open my eyes to move at my average speed but soon feel pain in my knee and ribs, a sharp reminder of what happened yesterday. “Arya, are you okay?” the voice made me jump until I remembered it was Kyson next to me, “I forgot I hurt myself,” I whined. “You need to be careful, sweetness. Where were you trying to go?” he asks, “The bathroom. I just need to take my time.” I slowly get up from the bed, trying to ignore the throbbing in my knee. Kyson soon appears at my side, wrapping his arm around me, “I will help you get there,” he smiles. The last thing I wanted was for him to help me to the bathroom, but I didn’t have a choice. I am sure it will ease the more I move around today, and I can make it to the bathroom myself.

Chapter Four - It was worth the wait...
Kyson  “Ahh, I am so excited to get into the lake,” Arya gushes. Her injuries were finally healed enough for her to go swimming after a week. She is still a little sore, but not enough to stop her from going out. I am happy we can get out and about together, but I had enjoyed taking care of her the last week, which is surprising since these days, I am usually a selfish bastard. Spending so much time with each other has seemed to have built tension up, not only that but a connection too. I haven’t felt a connection with someone in a long time. It was nice. I hadn’t made a move because it would have felt wrong since I was looking after her. “Me too!” I smi

Chapter Five - The man has skills
Arya  I moan and watch Kyson closely as his lips trail down my body. They felt good on my skin. I can feel the heat rise from my body with each one. He disappears between my legs, kissing over my bikini bottoms. I gasp, arching up from the bed. I am still in a bit of pain, but I don’t care right now. He takes the tie on my bottoms in his hands, looking up at me with lustful eyes, “Can I?” he breaths out. I nod eagerly, and he quickly removes them from my body, throwing them on the floor. He runs his callous fingers over my folds, and my head falls back, “Mmm, wet already, gorgeous?” he breaths out, moving up to circle my clit. Fuck! I

Chapter Six - Problems with the ex
Kyson  I reach for Arya the second I wake, realising I am in my bed alone. Where is she? And when did she leave? I sit up, running my fingers through my hair. I looked around, noticing her clothing and shoes were still in my bedroom, so she couldn’t have gone far. I go to search for her, seeing her out in on the decking in one of my tees. I approach, and the closer I get to her, I realise she is on the phone. “Shawn, I told you to leave me the hell alone. No, I am not telling you where I am,” she snaps. I can hear in her voice she is upset. Arya doesn’t say anything for a moment. I assume whoever Shawn is, he is talking, “No! I hate yo

Chapter Seven - What we need
Arya Kyson and I had found the perfect spot. The view is beautiful, and the atmosphere peaceful. It is what we need today. I am trying to forget about my ex and his calls. He isn’t worth it.“Would you like a glass of wine, sweetness?” he asks, “Yes, please.” I smile, resting back on my hand, closing my eyes and drawing in my breath for a moment and letting it out. When I open my eyes, Kyson is holding the plastic glass out for me, “Thank you.” I take it from him, taking a sip. He leans in, pecking my lips.We fall into a comfortable silence, taking a sip of our drinks, “Are you hungry?” I nod, ready for food after our long walk to get here, “Fruit or sandwiches?”I thought on it for a moment, deciding on fruit. Kyson took the tubs of fruit from the basket, setting them in front of us, and we took one each. I dig straight into the strawberries, groaning the second I take the first bite. They are so sweet and juicy, I couldn’t help myself.“Easy, kitten,” Kyson chuckles, “I am only eat

Chapter Eight - You will need to tire me out
Kyson I wake, and it is still dark outside. I reach over to hug Arya, but she isn’t there. I glance at the digital clock next to the bed, and it reads four o’clock. Where is she at this time? I switch the bedside light on so I can see where I am going and head to search for her.I check the bathroom, but she isn’t there. I work my way through the house, finally finding her in the living area. Arya is sitting on the floor, her back to the sofa. She has a blanket wrapped around her, typing away.“Baby girl, what are you doing up at this time?” I ask. She lifts her hand, signalling one minute. I get the hint, not saying another word, sitting down next to her.“And another chapter is done,” she says excited, closing her laptop and turning her attention to me, “Sorry. I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to come do some writing which was a great idea because I just wrote two thousand words in the space of an hour and a half.” Arya has the biggest smile on her lips when she says.“Awesome! Go yo

Chapter Nine - We are done!
Arya How the hell did Shawn even know to find me here? I storm over to the door, Kyson stepping out of the way.“I thought maybe we could talk, sort things out,” Shawn finally answers me. I laugh loudly, “And what the hell makes you think I want that? I am done with you! How did you even know where to find me?” I am fuming. He has no right to show up here.“Can we talk in private, please?” he asks, glaring at Kyson, “No! We have nothing to talk about.” Shawn reaches out for me, but I swat his hand away, “Don’t touch me.”“Arya, please, baby? I am sorry. I fucked up. I miss you. Please, give me another chance.” He begs.I would never give him another chance, even if I didn’t have a thing going on with Kyson, “I don’t miss you. I don’t love or want you anymore.” I hiss.I see his demeanour change. A wave of anger fills his eyes, his jaw clenching, “So what you are choosing this idiot over me? Come on, let’s not waste time here. You will forgive me. You always do.” He chuckles. It was n

Chapter Ten - Cheering her up
Kyson Arya had been a little quiet most of the day, and I knew it was because of what happened this morning, even if she would deny it if I asked. We had a lovely lunch. Now we were having coffee before stopping to get everything we needed before heading back.“I will be back in a minute, just going to the bathroom,” I announce, “Okay, I am going to order another coffee. Do you want one?” she asks.“Yes, please.” I peck her lips from across the table before standing and walking away. I wasn’t going to the bathroom. That was a lie. I am going to nip across the street to the cute vintage jewellery store.A beautiful dreamcatcher necklace caught Arya’s eye when we passed it earlier, but she refused to go inside and get it. Why I don’t know, she liked it, and it wasn’t too expensive either. I will but it for her, try to cheer her up a little.I hate how her ex has ruined her day. He has no damn right! She deserves much better, not like I am remarkably better than him, but I wouldn’t do t
