Chapter Thirty-Seven

Rather than administer a dose of the elimination cure that would equal the normal amount placed in an inoculation, Olga opted to systematically treat her niece with a minuscule drop under the tongue, while monitoring her in between each dose. Although it didn’t kill her as Olga had secretly feared, the tiny doses of the elimination cure made Kendra violently ill with flu-like symptoms. 

In order to keep worried and curious eyes and ears away, Olga capitalized on those symptoms and lied to the other healthcare workers by insisting that her niece had, somehow, contracted some type of virus and should be quarantined.  This also gave her the excuse to constantly monitor Kendra while she was undergoing a process that was unfamiliar with unknown results.

At one point, the older woman wanted to stop the treatment for fear that it was doing more harm than good, but Kendra wouldn’t hear of it.
