Introduction

Unlucky Meets Lucky

Nathan Flenn was in his state of uncertainty, trying to outrun the tick-tock of the clock heading to his classroom on the seventh floor of the first building. Little did he knows that his unpredicted and unlucky turn of events started when the pipe in his shower kept the water flowing?

It took him almost an hour to fix the damage to the pipes which resulted in him missing his lunch, forgetting to bring his books, and even stepping onto a bird's newly pooped out stool along the road. For that same reason, he smelled like shit while heading to the school.

Right after hopping out of the car, he rushed to the main entrance of the school without noticing his feet landing on the ground. However, his utter worries and fears existed deeply in his alarming heart, mind, and soul.

A bar of soap and a sachet of shampoo were the lacking ingredients for him to take a bath for the second time around when his entire face down to his school uniform was completely soaked by his profuse sweat just to be on time for his first day of the class.

Aside from Nathan's thunderous heartbeats, his arms were also shaking in a race. If not because his entire legs were made up of a scrap of metals, his body might have collapsed already before reaching the entrance of the school.

The time was about quarter to one in the afternoon before the class will commence. And Nathan only has fifteen minutes left on his watch before their professor. Rumour has it that their werewolf trainer and professor, Mr. Veril, was the worst.

Invalid reasons or explanations could barely be accepted under his jurisdictions. He pities no one. And he punished everyone who disobeyed the school's rules and regulations. Even if you have a family member who just died is still an invalid reason for him.

"Ouch!" a woman's voice suddenly echoed in Nathan's ears right after they bumped against each other as they were in a race to step inside the room. All her belongings were accidentally scattered on the floor.

Nathan, who was out of time, simply ignored the woman and rushed inside the classroom to grab his seat. Did not even get the chance to see and know who he just bumped into. In relation to that, he tried to avoid talking and getting eye-to-eye contact with anyone because he differed from everyone. Being a half-cyborg.

Sadly, before he could grab his seat, Rodney King, the school's most feared and most powerful soon-to-be alpha of his parents' Crescent Moon Packs, blocked his legs on purpose which resulted in him stumbling and rolling on the floor.

Aside from the severe physical pain, he felt, his backpack being thrown away, and his plain white soaked school uniform has also turned brown after rolling over against the floor a few times. Overall, he was covered with dust and dirt.

After that, all of Nathan's classmates immediately opened their mouths and started cursing and laughing at him because of his lousy indifference. Their humiliations were as loud as the gong of the church bell or a busy public market to his heart and mind.

The harsh sound of it penetrated deeply into his bones to the point that the discomfort scenario was getting unbearable. Though he has been used to being humiliated, he could not deny the fact their mere words still ameliorated his vanishing confidence.

If one of his werewolf abilities was to just disappear instantly or make himself as tiny as he could similar to a bug, he has already done that to avert being the centre of attraction.

Sadly, all Nathan did at that time was to calm his ass off, trying to forget it happened. At least that was what his understanding heart was trying to advise his unforgetting and revengeful brain. He doesn't want to be in trouble because he knew he will only end up being bullied and a loser after all.

Rodney then grabbed Nathan's collar by force and muttered, "better know who you were bumping against, you moron metallic boy," shortly dragged his gaze back to the woman and faked a smile. "Her precious name is Ellen Page. She was the only living proof that life is beautiful I could imagine. Everyone respects and loves her including me."

Ellen Page just turned eighteen seven days beforehand. She was the school's most charming female wolf ever lived. Everyone wanted to become her mate even before her eighteenth year of existence.

She was known for her best of luck. But she strived more so her life become promising. There was nothing more to talk about her family's background when she labelled herself as one of the middle-class families in the first place.

And her one-of-a-kind beauty and attitude are her only weapon to face the cruelty of life. With that, she never failed to become the school's president even without volunteering to become one. Wealthy people and wolves were paying her for endorsements.

Little did she realize that she just turned into a famous celebrity? Her luck never ceased. She gets everything that pleases her eyes without exerting much effort, house, lot, money, or even cars. In line with that, she and her family live happily everyone could barely imagine.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know." Nathan shortly stealth a glimpse at Rodney's face. But he could barely reach the eye part when he knew nothing about Rodney. The worst part was he recognized no one from his classmates because he was metaphorically a transfer student.

"Don't tell me you did not recognize me as well?" Rodney asked him in a furious tone because for him, there's no way he could not know even his name since everyone knows about him and his family who ruled the city.

Even if Nathan did not get the chance to glimpse Rodney's face, he indeed barely recognize him. Who could not be? He barely made friends because of the weird scrap of metals attached to his body.

"Everyone will be more pleased if you just remove those metastatic legs from that disabled useless loser, Brother Rodney," one of their classmates highly suggested which extended the humiliation.

"Take it off!"

"Take them off!"

This time, his classmates chanted continuously. Rodney was pleased as he should be since everyone knows and supported him. In fact, most if not all students in the school were members of his parents' packs.

That made him wonder how on earth Nathan hadn't recognized him when he has marked the same wolf markings along with the Crescent Moon Packs on their forehead.

Meanwhile, one of them even pinpoint to the entire class how useless and unfortunate Nathan's life as a werewolf was, considering all male wolves are required to serve the country by becoming the packs' battle warriors.

For them, Nathan could not fulfil his duty as a member of the Crescent Moon Packs. He was a crippled man. Knows and experiences no battle when all he did was hide from the corner to avoid being socialized.

However, what surprised Nathan the most was when some people and wolves knew about his terrible and undesirable experiences and private life. He talked and shared with no one because he doesn't want to inflict his ill-fated life on anyone but him alone.

"It's fine, Rodney. It wasn't Nathan's fault but mine," her smile and calm response enlarged Nathan's eyes and several long curved lines were drawn on his forehead. He could not help but drag his gaze toward Ellen as he felt skeptical about how on earth she could recognize him. "Take your hands off him now. Mr. Veril is on his way."

Luckily, Nathan thought and considered his unlucky minutes got ceased when Rodney left no choice but to release his grips from him. Compared to Nathan, Rodney was also undeniably not terrified of Mr. Veril. But Rodney highly respected their professor when he was the pack's topmost warrior.

As soon as Nathan felt the tight of his chest loosen up, he immediately grabbed his seat beside Ellen's. "Thank you," he muttered in respect for Ellen without dragging his eyes at her face.

"Don't you ever think we're done, you moron?" Rodney retorted on behalf of Ellen. Of course, no matter how soft Nathan's words were, Rodney was a werewolf. One of their abilities was their well-enhanced sense of hearing. Aside from that, Rodney was seated behind them.

"Rodney, stop!" Ellen exclaimed shortly. Her furious tone has somehow amused Nathan. As far as his knowledge is concerned, it was his fault her books and other school stuff were scattered on the floor. Instead, she defended him from Rodney.

"Is everything all right?" Mr. Veril's loud and rough voice has shut off everyone's eyes and mouths including Rodney's and Ellen's. None of them dared open their mouths aside from their fake stares down at their books. "All right... Turn your history book on page..."

While Mr. Veril was engaged in discussing in front of everyone, Nathan also could not help but stealth a stare at Ellen's meekly innocent face. Though he just met her a few seconds ago, he could deny the fact that his first impression of her was incomparable.

It was as though he already met her somewhere in the past when her resemblance had somehow registered into his werewolf system. He could just barely remember when and where. But he was pretty convinced they did.

When Ellen noticed his weird glimpses, Nathan immediately dropped his eyes to his armchair and behaved as if nothing happened, and focused on the discussion ahead of them.

Hours passed, Nathan headed back to his home, carrying the good news to his parents about meeting Ellen as one of his classmates. He planned to befriend her because he knows she has a good heart. Unfortunately, something unexpected came up upon his arrival. Nathan's instinct told him that his misfortune has continued.

Several drops of blood have scattered all over the floor in the house when he got the vision of the kitchen. The atmosphere of the incident has seemed to be brutal, his wolf can tell.

He felt the extreme pain and boisterous scream of his parents throughout the corners of the house. Even smelled the blood scent of his eight-year-old younger brother, Noah.
