Chapter Four

Gustavo Alvarez was visited by his friends and business partners, Àngel and Santiago at his vacation house in Pachuca. They heard of what happened at Haute House, so they came to tease him and play games together like they always did whenever they needed rest.

“Holla amigo!” Àngel screamed immediately after the door was opened by the maid.

“You guys are here already?” Gustavo asked as he came down the stairs in his robe and a glass of red wine in his hand.

“Yes, we are here it was really difficult getting here,” Santiago said assisting Àngel who was drunk.

“Oh I see, what did you do to him” Gustavo asked Santiago as he pointed at Àngel who was already lying down on the couch.

“I did nothing, he was telling me about how he met Maria for the hundredth time today”.

“The runway model?” “Maria will be the end of this man,” Gustavo said laughing.

Gustavo sat down on one of the sofas in the living room and placed his glass of wine on the Golden platted table in front of him as he picked up his laptop, Santiago walked up to him and collected the laptop forcefully.

“Relax man, don’t you get tired of work?” Santiago asked as he shut down the laptop.

“I have a lot to work to do and…”

“You have no excuse, we came here to relax for a week, so enjoy it,” Santiago said.

“Who was she?” Santiago asked peering into Gustavo’s eyes suspiciously.

“She clearly isn’t Amelia and she’s not one of those girls who escort you to do your shoping, she’s different” Santiago continued.

“Who are you talking about?” Gustavo asked trying to figure out who Santiago was referring to.

“The Lady at Haute House, I think she works there or something” Santiago replied.

“Oh, that rude wretched being, You call her a lady?” Gustavo asked laughing hysterically.

“If she wasn’t laid off before the incident happened I would have done it myself, She ruined my shoes and I had to take off my entire outfit, I pray I don't meet someone like her in my life again,” Gustavo said as he picked up his glass of wine and drank it all.

“She is beautiful, You must have said something that triggered her anger towards you, and come to think of it she is the only lady who has ever talked back at you angrily aside from your sister Victoria,” Santiago said as he got up to get himself a wine and a glass from the bar.

“And how did you hear this?” Gustavo asked realizing that he was only with his guards at the time of the incident.

“Oh, have you forgotten how popular you are and your señorita makes sure to send someone to trial you so I guess it somehow got out to the internet,” Santiago said.

“What!?”

“The Internet!?” Gustavo asked as his eyes widened in disbelief.

Santiago went back to the sofa where he left his jacket and he dipped his hands into the pockets of his suit, he took out his phone, and scrolled through his phone gallery where he had saved the pictures.

“Here,” Santiago said as he handed his phone to Gustavo to see for himself.

Gustavo quickly took the phone from him and started swiping through the pictures, one of the pictures read “Gustavo and the mystery lady”.

“Hmmm mystery lady indeed” Gustavo muttered.

He continued looking at the pictures with interest as he zoomed in on any picture he swiped, Santiago noticed this and interrupted him.

“She is beautiful right?”

“No, she’s not! I was just making sure the press won’t have anything to use against me I don’t have that kind of time” Gustavo said as he handed back the phone to Santiago.

“I didn’t ask you that, I only asked if she was beautiful,” Santiago said as he shook his head smiling.

“She is not my type, I’m way above her league, please,” Gustavo said as he poured himself a wine from the one Santiago took out from the bar.

“Bring her to the company”

“What!?”

“How can you think of something like that, that girl obviously didn’t go to college and you want me to bring her to my company?” Gustavo asked looking at Santiago unbelievably.

“Ok, if you say so” Santiago said switching on the television.

“Yes, I said so and goodnight, Àngel should not sleep on my couch it’s very expensive and you know it” Gustavo said as he picked up his laptop and went up the stairs to his bedroom.

Santiago knew Gustavo was already not comfortable talking about Sofia, worst still the news was already on blogs.

Santiago decided he will put a call across so that the articles and news about the incident be put down. And he also knew that if he could push a narrative of Gustavo and Sofia slowly, Gustavo might be interested in Sofia.

Gustavo got to his room and tried doing some office work on his laptop but the conversation between him and Santiago about the events that transpired between him and Sofia was still stuck in his head.

He had taken a closer look at the photos on Santiago's phone earlier and he was sure that Sofia was beautiful, she had the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen in his life, the brown color of her hair matched her skin, her height was perfect as she was not too tall.

He wished he had taken a closer look at her appearance when he had met her at the boutique, deep down in his heart he wished he would see her again.

He looked at his glass and that was when he realized he had finished it and nothing was remaining, he decided to retire to bed with thoughts of Sofia glued on his mind.
