Chapter Nine: A Step Closer

The calm breeze brushed the fallen leaves up from the empty road, and the magnificent twilight sky added to the serene environment.

Violet's soft laugh filled the air with its soft Melody, as the two walked hand in hand, laughing at jokes and engaging in small talk.

Nick had insisted on holding her hand with the excuse that she might fall due to the after effects of prolonged hunger, which Violet thought was a completely ridiculous reason. She had let him take her hand anyway, as he wouldn't budge.

"I feel bad for that lady Samantha body shamed. Samantha's an awful person for saying those kinds of things to her," Violet complained sadly.

"Samantha could be a bitch sometimes, but I didn't know she'd go to that extent," replied Nick in a tired voice. "What she did was downright inhumane. No one deserves to be treated like that."
