Chapter 2

Theresa quickly explained, "I didn't push her."

"She is right. Theresa didn't push me. I fell into the fountain myself." Angela changed her story and tried to help Theresa out.

However, Damien's face became even gloomier.

Theresa was about to defend herself when Angela suddenly let out a scream and then passed out.

Damien looked at Theresa and shouted, "Go home yourself!"

After he finished speaking, he picked up Angela and left the hotel.

Angela was in Damien's arms. She secretly opened her eyes with a triumphant smile.

Theresa looked around in a trance as people around her pointed at her and whispered.

She heard what they said about her.

Yet what upset her was Damien's attitude.

Numbed, she left the banquet hall and found that Damien and the driver had driven off without her.

She had to walk back home.

She knew that Damien never loved her. Just now, with all the guests around, he chose to leave with Angela, not her.

Theresa lay on the bed in the guest room, letting her tears flow down her face without any attempt to wipe them away.

Suddenly, the guest room door opened.

Damien walked in like a gust of wind and went straight to the bed. Then he pulled Theresa up.

Damien looked at Theresa expressionlessly.

"Let's get a divorce."

Theresa's heart sank to the bottom as she stared at his tall figure.

Silently, she curled up her hands into fists and trembled.

She was terrified at those words, yet, he still said them.

"Can we not get divorced?" asked Theresa, struggling.

Damien looked at Theresa with a frown and suddenly realized that she was actually pretty.

Right now, she was looking at him, and there was supplication in her eyes.

They had been married for three years, and Theresa always did whatever Damien said.

In Damien's eyes, Theresa was a good wife, but he just didn't love her whatsoever.

Just as Angela said, he chose to marry Theresa because she was an obedient carer who admired him.

"You know why I married you, and you know I don't love you at all," Damien said. "I'll give you some money, but you'll have to apologize to Angela."

"What did you say?" Theresa looked at Damien in disbelief.

"Angela caught a cold just now. Don't you think you owe her an apology?" Damien was less guilty when saying so, and he looked at Theresa with disgust.

"I didn't push her!" Theresa explained again. "She jumped into the fountain herself."

Damien sneered and said, "Theresa, if I had known you were such a lying, vicious woman, I would never have married you."

Damien spoke in a cold tone. He wouldn't give Theresa a glimmer of hope.

He said, "I love Angela. And I want to marry her."

As if unable to bear his words, Theresa swayed and nearly fell.

"Our third anniversary is coming. Why do you want to divorce me at such a time?" Theresa looked at Damien, her tone was somewhat unwilling.

"Mr. Slater!"

Before Damien could answer Theresa, his assistant suddenly came to the doorway and said, "Angela says that she is having a bad headache."

Damien walked past Theresa and headed towards the guest room while saying in a deep voice, "Get the car ready, and we're going to the hospital."

Shortly after, Damien came out of the guest room with Angela in his arms.

Angela huddled in Damien's arms and whispered, "Put me down. I can walk. You'll give Theresa the wrong idea."

"Damien, again, I didn't push her." Theresa stood at the bedroom door and watched Angela and Damien, who looked so intimate.

"You don't have to explain it to me. Go try to explain it to those at the banquet and see if anyone believes you."

Damien said and was about to leave. Then he stopped at the turn of the stairs and turned to Theresa. "I have decided to divorce you. Let me know your terms. I only want one thing. I want you to get out of here as soon as possible."

After he finished speaking, he went downstairs with Angela in his arms. He never looked back.

Theresa followed him to the staircase. Angela looked up at Theresa in triumph.

Damien and Angela's figures vanished. Only then did Theresa's tears run silently down her face. She felt utterly cold.

"Damien, today will be the last time I cry for you."

Theresa reached out to wipe away her tears and rose from the floor, her expression cold, her eyes full of determination.
