Chapter 3

Theresa walked back to the bedroom, took out her suitcase, and put some of her clothes in it.

Then she turned on her computer and started typing.

The printer on the desk made a sound.

Soon, the divorce papers were ready.

Theresa picked up the pen and signed the name, Theresa White, on the paper without hesitation.

White was not her real surname, but she felt that it didn't matter anymore.

Then she put a watch on the divorce papers, a gift she had prepared for Damien for their third anniversary.

She did a lot of things for him during the three years, but he never cared.

He always tossed away the clothes she had bought for him or gave them to his underlings.

Theresa walked out of Damien's villa and stood by the side of the road, taking deep breaths for the fresh air.

A black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of Theresa.

As she got into the car, she said to the man in the driver's seat, "Hari, take me to the airport. I'm going back to San Francisco."

"Ms. Schumann, I'm so glad that you have come to your senses at last," Hari said as he drove. "If you don't go back, the Schumann Group will soon go out of business."

Theresa looked out the window and smiled confidently, "Rest assured. I'm coming back and the Schumann Group will never be out of business."

Theresa's plane took off just as Damien arrived home from the hospital.

His assistant opened Theresa's bedroom door and said, "I heard from the maid that Theresa had left."

Damien nodded and walked into the room.

The divorce papers were on the desk and Theresa had signed them already.

A delicate watch lay on top of the papers, and he could not resist picking it up and looking at it.

The watch was a custom-made piece by Patek Philippe, with high-quality diamonds embedded on the dial.

There was a card under the watch. He picked up the card and saw a note on it. It said, "Happy anniversary, Damien."

Looking at the words, Damien suddenly realized that they had been married for three years.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind. He wondered where she got the money from.

It was a custom-made piece by Patek Philippe. Though he didn't know the exact price, he was certain that it was worth a lot.

He gave Theresa money every month, but it wasn't nearly enough to buy a watch like this.

Damien suddenly turned to his assistant and said, "Find out where she went. If my rival company is behind it, I won't let her get away with it."

While Damien's assistant was investigating Theresa in Los Angeles, she had already arrived in San Francisco.

She rested for two days and dealt with some work.

On her third day back in San Francisco, Theresa asked Hari to drive her to the Schumann Group headquarters.

The Schumann Group, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, was suddenly overpriced after the purchase of a mysterious boss. The executives of the Schumann Group, who had been notified, gathered early in the lobby on the first floor to await the new CEO's arrival.

They saw a black Rolls-Royce pulled up at the door, and then a woman got out of the car.

They looked at the door, turning nervous.

As Theresa got closer, everyone stared at her.

Theresa was wearing a well-cut black suit, and her white heels stood out.

Her curly flaxen hair bounced on her shoulders as she walked, and her delicate makeup highlighted her stunning face.

A senior employee who had worked at the Schumann Group for years exclaimed in surprise, "Ms. Schumann?"

"Hi. It's been a while," Theresa said with a smile as she stood in front of the Schumann Group.

"I'm so glad you're OK." A senior employee's eyes turned red.

A few years ago, she heard that Theresa had been in an accident. And then, Theresa went missing. They all thought she was dead.

No one had expected that the new CEO would be the long-lost Theresa.

Theresa, surrounded by people, got into the elevator. She then turned to Sean Fox and asked, "Several people didn't show up, did they?

"Yes." Sean, the vice president, was deferential. "The directors, led by Vincent, are planning on playing rough."

"Are they?" Theresa sneered. "I am not the little girl who needs to be protected by my parents anymore. How come my uncles are still so naïve?"

Meanwhile, Vincent Schumann was sitting in the conference room with several of the board members, leaning back and talking to each other.

Vincent looked unconcerned, but he was worried deep down.

"Why isn't she here yet?" Sitting in the CEO's chair, Vincent said impatiently to the secretary behind him, "Go and check it out."

"Take it easy. She'll be here sooner or later," Dali Schumann said leisurely.

Vincent shook his head and said, "Don't let your guard down. The Schumann Group is, after all, the property of the Schumann family, and we cannot let the company fall into the hands of an outsider."

At the same time, the secretary ran back in a hurry and said, "Mr. Schumann! The new CEO has summoned the executives to another conference room. The meeting is almost over now."
