Lyra's Pov
After the incident between Norman, Adam and I, I couldn't wait to meet Adam in school the next day. I kept turning on my bed as the butterflies in my belly were bugging me.' Oh, we forgot to exchange contacts. How could we have left out such details?' I thought to myself.'But seriously, the ride he gave me back home was quiet and weird. He barely looked at me. Does he even like me? I mean… he sits right next to the beauty queen, Hariette. And compared to her, I am just a… augh!! That cheap slot couldn't wait to take the good things all to herself, could she? What am I even thinking? There is no chance for me to be with Adam. Any chance I had had been seized by this absurd marriage arrangement.'These thoughts and mixed emotions plagued me the whole night until it was morning again, and another day for school.Thank God, my car had been repaired, so everything was back to normal, well…. Kind of.When I arrived at school, I was relieved to see that Norman and his two friends had skipped school that day. And I also noticed that Adam had changed his sitting position. He no longer sat next to Hariette, but on a seat located three rows behind her. For some reason, this was the first seat switch that I was very happy to have witnessed. As for Harriette, well… she wasn't happy. She kept looking behind to see if Adam would notice her mood, but Adam was focused on something else. I wonder what went down between the two of them. I always thought they were a perfect match. And finally, leah and sarah were on their seats, with big smiles on their faces. They gave me big waves and I returned them as I took my seat. It wasn't long before Miss. Ambrose came to begin another boring day of past events. Finally, the beautiful melody of the bell rang in my ears, signaling the end of Miss Ambrose's class. I had to admit that I learned something just because of the fact that Norman wasn't behind me to talk trash.--When it was lunch break, as always, Leah and Sarah approached me and we headed to the cafeteria. We went and grabbed some snacks and headed to an empty table. While we ate and chatted, I paused as I saw Adam bypass us and headed to the counter to grab his lunch. Sarah and Leah noticed that I had paused and followed my gaze only to see Adam grabbing lunch before heading to an empty table." Woah, what is happening here?" Sarah asked in a hushed tone, giving me suspicious looks." Nothing," I scoffed, rolling my eyes." With that attitude just now, something is definitely happening here,"Sarah insisted." I don't know what you are talking about." I defended myself." Come on Lyra, you can deny the fact that you paused when you saw Adam." Leah chimed in." So? It was just random, nothing to it. Now let's eat before lunch break gets over." I said, trying to keep my face as serious as possible, not to let my guard down. With that, Leah and Sarah looked at each other as they raised their shoulders before eating. But before long, a dark shadow was casted over our table, and when we looked up, it was no other person than Adam, standing there with his lunch in his hands. He had a slight nervous look on his face as he breathed out the words "Can i join you guys? My table has been taken." He said as he took a quick glance back at his table. When we looked at his table to see who could have done such a thing, Harriete was sitting there with embarrassment and anger on her face. She must have done something to upset Adam. But still, I was in no mood to let Adam sit with us as it could stir up gossip around school. However before i could turn him down, Sarah and Leah stood up " sure," they said as they carried their lunch and headed over to table where harriette was currently sitting. Gosh, Those back stabbing…. Bad girls.Adam stood there a bit confused why Sarah and Leah had to leave. " Did I do something wrong?" He asked in confusion." Not at all." I replied with a forced smile. I was still getting over the back stabbing, dont judge me.Adam took his seat and smiled at me, however, I couldn't smile back when I saw wound marks on his jaw. The wounds looked strange. They were lines like he had been attacked by a bear, or something."Are you okay?" Adam asked when he noticed my sudden change in mood." Your jaw… what happened to it?" I inquired.Immediately he made it as if realization had hit him. " Oh it's nothing, don't worry about it." He responded as he raised the cap of his hoodie over his head, to cover the claw marks or whatever they were..." Are you sure you are okay? You don't want to talk about it?" I asked, hoping the answer would be different, but he replied saying. " I am fine, they are just minor bruises, I have endured the worst." He then gave a nervous laugh. Before he started eating his food. When I glanced at his plate, I noticed his food was a hundred percent made up of meat. I found this both mysterious and interesting. " So you are just going to eat only meat for lunch huh?" I scoffed." Yeah, I love meat a lot. I grabbed the habit from my dad. We used to go hunting most at times and we would bring home a big catch and enjoy it just by ourselves." He explained.Well.. that sounded sensible to me, so i didn't think much of it. As we kept eating, Adam paused and started speaking. " Actually i wanted to ask, since the weekend has arrived, will you…""Can i join you guys?" Another voice came out of nowhere and interrupted Adam's little speech. When we looked up, it was no other person than Harriettte. I couldn't believe it. What was going on?What had caused Harriette to show up at our table? Well whatever it was, I was ready to turn her down. Hold up…. Adam did it for me.. " i don't think that is a good idea." He frowned, looking at Harriette sternly. .However, Harriette ignored Adam and turned her concentration on me. " Lyra, i know we haven't been on good terms lately, but can we let that go behind us and eat together just this once like old times.. please?" Harriete asked, looking truly sorry for leaving me in my times of need… or so I thought. As naive as I was, I did let her sit with us. Adam was giving me a question. " It's okay," I assured him. After that, our table was filled with an awkward silence. Then all of a sudden, Harriette spoke up " so lyra, have informed Adam about your upcoming wedding?" Boy, did I choke. The food missed the normal route and went straight into my windpipe. I started coughing, helplessly gasping for air. Adam with the look of confusion and shock on his face grabbed a cup of water and
As I walked toward the agreed meeting point with Adam, I couldn't shake off the feeling of relief that the school day was over. The sun was dipping low in the sky and casting a warm golden glow over everything, and I was looking forward to spending time with Adam, who was already standing about thirty meters away, waving at me. "Hey! Over here!"I waved back and quickened my pace, eager to join him.But as I neared Adam, the sound of a car racing up behind me caught my attention."Huh? What's that noise?" I asked myself.I glanced over my shoulder, and to my horror, the car seemed to be closing in on me. Panic flooded through me as I realized it was coming directly behind me. "Oh no! Adam!" I screamed, my heart pounding in my chest, and with a sinking feeling, I closed my eyes and braced myself for impact. I felt like I was frozen in that moment, waiting for the inevitable. But then, just in time, I was pulled away from the road by someone, and both of us tumbled to the ground at th
Few Days agoAs Adam and his cousin John walked through the thick forest towards the Wolf Fighting Arena, they were very excited. The sun had set, making the trees look tall and dark. Both Adam and John looked eager and quickly glanced at each other as they walked.Suddenly, John stopped and looked like he really needed to go to the bathroom. "I need to pee, Adam," he said, looking uncomfortable."Sure, go ahead. I'll keep going and wait for you," Adam said, patting his cousin on the shoulder before continuing on while John went off the path.As Adam walked further into the woods, everything was very peaceful with the sound of leaves rustling and the breeze was whispering through the trees. But then, out of nowhere, two scary-looking wolves jumped out and attacked him. Without hesitation, Adam started changing into a powerful werewolf with glowing red eyes. The two wolves attacking Adam were surprised by his transformation but then they attacked him even more fiercely. Even though Ada
Some Nights Ago..Lyra's POVAs I stepped out into the crisp evening air, I took a deep breath, feeling the tension of the day start to melt away. It was a beautiful night, and the moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery light over the backyard. I thought it would be the perfect time to take Layla, my golden retriever, for a walk around the neighborhood. As Layla bounded around the yard, her tail wagging furiously, I followed close behind. It felt good to stretch my legs and just enjoy the tranquility of the night. But suddenly, Layla's playful demeanor changed, and she began growling and barking at something in the bushes. I hurried over to see what had caught her attention and peered into the darkness. At first, I couldn't see anything, but then, as my eyes adjusted, I caught a glimpse of something moving. There, in the shadows, was a dark figure with white, glowing eyes. It felt like my heart stopped as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing. It looked like a creature
Lyra's POVI couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Norman standing at the doorway of my birthday party. I hadn't invited him, and yet there he was, a frown on his face as he watched me dance with Adam. I was enjoying the music and the way Adam's hand felt in mine as we moved together, but Norman's sudden appearance made my heart sink.As soon as Norman stepped in, the music came to a halt, and everyone who had been dancing stopped and turned to look at him. Even Sarah, who had been DJing, paused the music, sensing the sudden tension in the room.Norman's expression darkened as he watched me with Adam, and I could see the anger simmering beneath the surface. He forced a smile and greeted me with a curt "hey.""What are you doing here, Norman?" I asked him, knowing full well that I hadn't extended an invitation to him. "I came to wish you a happy birthday,"He replied."Thank you," I told him politely but then asked him to leave, as his presence was not welcome. Norman ignored my request
Lyra's POVI woke up to the sterile scent of the hospital room, the beeping of machines echoing in my ears. I blinked, trying to clear the fog from my mind, only to find my father sitting beside my bed, worry etched into his features. My friends, Sarah and Liah, stood by the window, their eyes red-rimmed. As I struggled to piece together what had happened, Adam entered the room, his presence igniting a surge of conflicting emotions within me."Lyra, honey, thank goodness you're awake. You had an accident," my father began, his voice heavy with concern."Hey, Lyra, we were so worried. You scared us half to death," Sarah said, her voice trembling."Yeah, we've been here since they brought you in. It's been a long night," Liah added, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. As Adam stepped closer, an influx of memories flooded my mind, memories of our recent argument and the pain that had driven us apart. Anger and hurt surged within me, and I turned away, unable to meet his gaze."Lyra, I'm
Adam sat in his boat, gently swaying as the waves lapped against the hull. The sea stretched out before him, its vast expanse mirroring the emotions churning within him. He often sought solace in the gentle rhythm of the waves when the weight of the world pressed down on his heart. As he sat lost in thought, his father approached, his footsteps muffled by the sounds of the sea. "Hey, Adam," he said, his voice warm and gentle. Adam looked up, his eyes reflecting his inner turmoil. "Hi, Dad," he replied, managing a small smile. His father settled down beside him, reaching into the cooler beside him and pulling out a soda. He handed it to Adam, who accepted it with a nod of gratitude. The silence enveloped them for a moment before his father spoke again. "You've been looking pretty down ever since you met Lyra," he observed. "I know she means a lot to you, but you can't let her distract you from the mission."Adam sighed, taking a sip of his soda. "I'm trying, Dad," he said. "It's just.
Adam chuckled to himself, finding humor in his daring act of taking his father's truck without permission. However, his amusement quickly turned into a pang of guilt as he reflected on the severity of his actions. "I'm sorry, dad, but I really need to get to my destination," he muttered remorsefully. He had already punched the location of the shop he needed to reach into the car's GPS and was now driving there. While in the driver's seat, his gaze wandered over to his father's collection of radio cassettes. He decided to play one, hoping it would uplift his mood, but to his disappointment, found the music uninspiring. Trying several more cassettes, he felt his frustration mounting, prompting him to angrily break them all. In the midst of his outburst, he narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle by swiftly slamming on the brakes and pulling over to the side of the road.Sitting in silence for a while, with his head resting on the steering wheel, his thoughts drifted to Lyra.
