Chapter 2

Adriana's POV

Exactly 2 am, the alarm snoozed, I stretched to quickly turn it off, not wanting to wake anyone. I took my phone and dialed Chelsea's number.

"Answer the phone please," I said in frustration, trying again. She eventually answered on the second ring.

"Oh God, Chelsea, please come to my room, please be careful not to wake Krista," I said in a whisper, pacing ups, and downs.

The door opened and she entered somnambulant, just yawning.

"Good you are here!" I said pulling her inside and closing the door. "Chelsea, I need to get out of here, and you are the only one who can help me," I said, holding her by both hands, looking directly into her eyes, so she wouldn't turn me down.

"Huh? She yelled, widening her eyes and freeing her hand. She looked shocked and scared.

" Shush, please stop yelling, Mom might hear us. Please, Chelsea, do you want me to end up with that man? I know you don't want me to end up with Drake either, but I won't. Please, you really have to help me."

"But Ana_"

"Please, I said," nodding looking into her eyes with tears flowing like a stream." My savings…is…will..will be enough to keep us….keep us for a month." I said, barely finding my voice.

"Fine! But what about your mother? She's got only you." She replied, beaten by fear and concern.

" Don't worry, she will be fine, it will be for just a month."

"Adriana? I'm afraid they might find us."

"Oh please, must we talk about this to daybreak? Trust me, nothing is gonna happen, okay?

" Fine! Where are we going?" Chelsea asked.

" To your apartment," I answered plainly.

"Good. Shall we?" She said taking off her footwear. I did exactly that, since I had packed already, I followed behind, tiptoeing, carefully not to raise any alarm until we finally made it out of the house.

"I sighed, that was stressing." We walked briskly to hail a taxi.

"Chelsea, I told you everything will be fine, we are safe now. Thank you, I don't have to marry that stranger."

"We are not entirely safe, how sure are you that we are not being followed." She faced looking out of the car, with her hands scraping her hair.

"Hey, look at me." Turning her to look at me, looking into her face, she pressed her lips firmly together, with worry spread across her face.

"They won't find us, and I won't leave you." My lips curved into an assuring smile, for her and myself that everything was going to be alright. We hold hands, whilst the car moves in silence.

"Holy shit! I left my_"

"Your purse? I brought it along." I said with a superhero smile.

"Can I have it? Thank you, I will pay the driver." "Please stop here." She exclaimed, paying the driver.

Taking my bag, I stepped out of the car. I looked around to check if we had been followed.

" Ana, are you not coming?" Chelsea asked.

"I am." I followed, disappearing into her neighborhood. Finally, Chelsea unlocked her apartment and we entered.

Chelsea flickered the light on, and while I softened to the ground, I was really exhausted.

" I will make tea, find somewhere to sit, other than the ground."She mumbled, making her way to the kitchen.

Glancing up, I noticed a clock, the time read 4:05 am. Picking up my bag, I sat on the sofa.

"Here you go." Chelsea said, handing me a cup.

"I guess we will be sharing a bed for some time since your apartment has only one bedroom," I said, sipping my tea.

"Yes, it's fine by me." She confessed with a profound smile.

"You know I've got to work at 8 am, can we go to bed now? Leave the cup on the center table, I will clean them later."

"Yes, sure." I followed into the bedroom and lay in our dress.

I slightly opened my eyes as the morning sun smiled beautifully at me, I smiled back.

I yawn, blinking a few times, baiting my lashes faintly as I gently sit up. I let out a loud groan, recollecting yesterday's scene....

"Uff... I sighed, it wasn't a dream, how unfortunate, but I am perfectly fine now.

"Hey beautiful, did you sleep well?" Chelsea asked, combing her hair.

"Well,yes."

"I can imagine." She let out a loud breath and looked at me expressionlessly.

"Did your mother in any way wrong your father? That he could have done this to you?"

"I don't know but I doubt mom did something.

Do you know? Dad made me sign a document for him, before his disappearance. Oh my goodness, could it have been it? "

She shrugged, not knowing what to say.

"I have to compile files for my boss early today, I made breakfast, make sure to have it while it's still hot.

I will call you as soon as I take a break, okay?" She said, putting on a black heel to match her blue blouse and black skirt.

"I will walk you out." I stepped out of bed to see her off.

"See you later, and make yourself at home. She kissed my cheek and got out.

"Alright. Have a nice day, I love you." I said closing the door. Just a minute after she left, the doorbell rang.

"She must have left something," I said to myself, hurrying to open it. I opened it to find two unknown men at the door. Both are wearing suits and black ties, looking very professional.

"Shall we? One man questioned.

"You may". I replied in a whisper. Closing the door behind me, I realized they were still standing.

"Please, you may have a seat." I offered politely, still lost in the unknown.

"It's okay!" One replied simply and the other, fidgeting his phone. How anxious I was, I mean, being alone with two strong-looking men, you can reckon the fear.

One of them received a call, then handed the phone to me. Staring blankly into his dangerous face, I sent the phone to my ear. A firm voice spoke.

"I notified you I would find you if you tried to escape, yet you challenged my words and tried. Did you think I wouldn't? Oh come on, don't be daft. If you don't want anything to happen to your mother and sister, follow the men home, and prepare for the marriage. With that, I couldn't say anything to him, I guess he ended the call.

Looking stupid, I gave back his phone and asked permission to collect my stuff and leave a note for Chelsea. Afterward, I followed them into a black SUV.

Immediately the car pulled to a stop, I ran inside to check on them, I saw them and realized he blackmailed me.

"Sweetheart, are you hurt?" My mom came to hug me.

"No, I am not, how are you and Krista? Did anything happen to you?"

"Nothing happened, we were worried about you."

One man dropped something, causing a distraction. Then he spoke." Sir wants you to be ready within 30 minutes, he doesn't entertain lateness, please don't be. We will be in the car, just in case you need something. He said, turning on his heels.

Mom collected the boxes, telling me to follow her into the room.

"What? Are you marrying your daughter off to a stranger? Come on, you are supposed to be on my side, isn't it?" I asked with tears flowing freely along my cheeks.

"Of course, I am! This equally hurts as it is with you. I spent the whole night thinking but I couldn't find a way to stop it."

" But how am I going to leave with him? I have a boyfriend." I said following her into my room.

"I don't want to hear anything about that man." Mom warned.

"I know, yes he did. What did you expect? Wouldn't you have acted likely if you were in his place?"

"Forget about him for good, you are only a few hours from being a married woman".

"Please, don't remind me of that". She didn't utter a word, closer to me, we hugged. I felt tranquil, never wanting to let go, I had to anyway.

"Honey, trust me, everything will be fine. Take a shower, I will be back in 10 minutes."

"Ana? I am here, how long will you take just to shower, stop crying, and get here?

Your eyes are puffy, it's your wedding, you have to look your best".

"My wedding you say"

"I brought breakfast." She said, concerned about her daughter's health.

"Thank you, I have lost my appetite. I will eat later."

"They will be here very soon, let's get you dressed."

Everything was going to take place in the house, I didn't need any special touch. In a jiffy, I had finished dressing up. Tears threatened my eyes as I looked at myself in the mirror, but I controlled them.

"Wow .... Sister, you look beautiful. They are here again, the men that came yesterday.

One of them said he won't wait forever, I should tell you he's got things to do".

"Who cares? He can go to hell!" I silently said to myself.

"I hear, go tell him I will be there soon."

She kissed my cheek and left.

"Mom? Can you leave me alone for a while?"

"As you wish, sweetheart."

I looked through the window and just wished I could turn into a bird and fly free to a very far island, never to return.

As I strutted downstairs, my eyes automatically captured his. His demeanor depicted his wealth. Who knows, he could be an illegal, a serial killer, or a drug dealer. One of the biggest, I mean, they are the only ones who did these in movies. How do I know, I will be safe?

I managed a few steps to take a seat beside him.

"Please sign here." The lawyer, I supposed, said. I took the pen with my hands shaking, and I signed. He did the same, but with much confidence. And we exchanged rings as reality struck, I am married to a stranger, wonderful that's the best thing that ever happened to me. I remarked sarcastically to myself...

Beautiful, a whole wedding in my own house with two witnesses from my side. The usual three men, his lawyer, and a woman, his assistant or something, from his side also.

Why didn't he just decide on a court wedding? At least that one makes a little sense.

"Mrs. Johnson?" His masculine voice echoes, making me annoyed.

"What did he just call me?"

I turned to him, with a horrified expression. "Don't you dare call me that? My name remains as it is, Adriana Williams."

"Don't get brassy, we have to leave now." He said staring at his watch, I guess time is everything to him.

" I am not going anywhere with you, get that?"

"I don't have time for jokes, you have two minutes to get into the car."

"Honey?" My mom called. "You have to go, I told you everything will be fine, don't you trust me?"

"I do, but I don't know_"

"Sis? I love you."

"I love you too, Krista. Take care of yourself."

"Your two minutes are up, Mrs. Johnson, get into the car."

"Don't tell me what to do, I am not your servant."

"I don't suppose you want me to be reminding you of what you are to me, I assume you are very intelligent. I am saying this once and for all, you are mine.

I don't usually repeat myself, will you come willingly or will my men carry you?"

"I am not going anywhere with you, you can go to hell for all I care."

"Sam? Take the suitcase." He summoned.

"Rex? carry her into the car."

He carried me eventually, I cried, hitting his back but he didn't seem perturbed.

This is my fate, which I have to accept. One thing is for sure, I will make him regret everything.

As the car pulled to a stop, I was astonished at my site. This is a paradise, is this how rich people lived? I thought it was only in movies and books.

One guard opened the car, and I got out holding my gown, they entered and I followed behind.

"Helena? Show her to her room and make me coffee afterward, I will be in my study."

He said and sashayed to, I think his study.

"Hello, Miss Williams?"

"Pardon? How do you know my name?"

"The boss told us about you, don't worry, you will soon know "the us".

You look alluring even though you've cried enough."

She opened the door, stepped in and I followed behind.

"This is your room, everything here belongs to you. I will leave now, if you need anything, press the button there."

"Please wait, will I share the same room with him?"

" I can't tell. She shrugged, as she replied.

"I am okay, thank you."

"Excuse me," she said and left.

I managed to remove my heels, then slept on the bed in my gown.

Alexander's POV

"This is your coffee, excuse me."

Mary will be here in a while, direct her to my bedroom".

"Okay Sir, excuse me."

I was on a call when a knock interrupted me, I opened the door and Mary entered.

"I will call you back," I said and hung up.

"Why didn't you go to the office today? I called the office. Mary questioned".

"I don't think that is your business," I replied straight.

"When will something ever become my business?" She demanded.

"Never, don't get your hopes up. Well, I don't think that is why you came, is it?"

She didn't reply, she tossed her bag down and started kissing me. I broke the kiss and moved to pour a glass of wine.

"You look beautiful, won't you drink anything?"

"Thank you, I am not here for wine, you know very well."

I moved to her, cupped her cheek, and started trailing soft kisses along her neck. Her lips caught mine, I deepened the kiss, causing her to open her mouth. Her moans became louder, as I intensified the kiss, in more or less an angry way.

I broke the kiss, turned her around, and undressed, I made it out of my dress then laid her on the bed, I slammed into her a few times and fainted.

I regained my strength and moved into the bathroom, I came back to find her still in bed.

"Mary? Get dressed, Sam will drop you off.

I don't normally spend the night with ladies."

"I know that for sure". She said, dressing up.

"Good, call me when you get home," I said, pouting my def a glass of wine.

"Certainly. Am I seeing you tomorrow?" She asked, raising her brows.

"I don't think so."

She kissed me on the cheek and left for the door. Something happened, Mary halted, and immediately she opened the door.
