He lightly touched Rosalie’s face, and although she knew he felt guilty for what he had said, she had perfectly understood his feeling. Her fingers glided gently through her skin, tracing the outline of her cheeks, as if to erase all the words spoken under the weight of despair. Their looks met, revealing a deep and unbreakable connection forged in the trials they have faced together over the years.

Rosalie, in turn, relived in her mind the moments when she felt alone and powerless, when Duncan walked away.
