THE TRUTH

The woman had long cascading black hair, she wore a silk white dress with a beautiful train, crystals scattered across the dress. There were two pure white wolves on each side. She was majestic and out of this world.

Pamala stood before her in wonder. She'd never seen someone so beautiful and ethereal. This definitely wasn't real.

"Pamala." She called out. The sound of her name sounded so soft and alluring, she should be kneeling in front this deity but she wasn't. She was staring at her unable to make out this situation, yet she was furious.

"Moon goddess." She replied in disbelief. She really wasn't seeing a woman that had been talked about for generations.

The moon goddess stood up from her throne she gave out her hand to her. Pamala stared at it in confusion.

"Come with me. Let me show you something." Her voice was gentle and calm, Pamala was hesitant at first but seeing the reassuring look on her face she took her hand. The minute she placed her palm within the goddesses, she was thrown into another lifetime. The zap had been really fast like lightning, a blinding light flashed before her eyes and then when she opened her eyes again she was standing in a peaceful world, there were pups playing and werewolves just going about their day. It was different from the world she knew.

She turned to look at the moon goddess standing next to her wondering why she was here and what it was all about.

"This is the world I envisioned for my people. peaceful and loving. I am the goddess of love after all. I have the gift to bless and curse people. I want to show you how omegas began. Follow me.' She said.

Pamala followed her they walked out of the playground inside a huge castle like building. She was quiet. All her life she'd wondered why Omegas suffered and why there was even such thing as hierarchy. Shouldn't they all be equal and treated fairly.

Pamala noticed that no one could see them or hear them, she wondered what time and era they were in, but she couldn't understand it. They walked through the stairs in silence until they entered a corridor, the moon goddess opened a door. They entered inside the room, it was a study. Their were two men inside.

The men engaged in a heated discussion concerning the pack. She listened even though she didn't understand what they were talking about.

"That's no way to go about it Augustine. I know you're worried, but we can't trespass the northern borders like that. It is what ensures peace in our land. Leave it untouch!" The younger man ordered. The other guy quite older and more cunning than calculative laughed.

"Those are measly rules Solomon. You're Alpha, take what you want. As your Beta I'm telling you to claim it, it'll ensure smooth trading for us with the eastern coast. Imagine the money that bridge will make us. Can't you see" He asked trying to convince the alpha.

"No! It caused a disunity before, it was agreed to be sealed for the sake of everyone, for peace. Everyone wants a taste of it, keeping it out of reach forever is the right thing to do!" The Alpha said in finality. His beta looked at him with a defiant gaze but one glare from his Alpha he finally dropped the argument.

"We'll trade with the West instead, make sure the supplies get out safely." The Alpha said.

"You're letting the East coast go? They're willing to do anything for our goods, they'll pay better. We can transport perishables faster with that bridge. I heard there are crystals and diamonds under the bridge. You could be the most powerful Alpha if we seize it. It originally belongs to our pack, it was given to us by our ancestors"

"It was a peace treaty between us and the others, not a tool for trade." The Alpha rebuked.

"Imagine -"

"Enough! Do as I say, do not go against me Augustine." The Alpha glared at him before walking out of the room. The beta looked at the door where the alpha had left, he smiled slyly.

"You're too weak, you can't rule us. That'll change soon." He laughed.

Pamala stood by the corner with the moon goddess watching as the man laughed. Then he stopped and looked towards their direction as if sensing them. She held her breath until he left.

"What are you showing me?" She asked the moon goddess.

"Patience is virtue." She replied stretching out her hand for Pamala to take it. She did and they disappeared into another time frame. They stood at a tower watching below them as war ensued, there were a lot of blood and deaths. Werewolves who had shifted going to shred one another. She looked away unable to stand the view.

"What's going on?" She whispered.

"Consequences of disobedience. Augustine has overthrown his Alpha and forcefully seized the bridge of peace causing a disorder. The People are retaliating, the one thing holding them together is gone, they are fighting for a taste of power. To claim it all to themselves." She said, her warm tone changing into a cold and distant one.

She gave out her hand and Pamala took it again, they appeared in a different time frame, but the same play ground they had first visited only that it was no longer a playground for pups. It was quiet and empty. The once peaceful and free-living she witnessed before gone.

"What you're seeing now, it's an autocratic leadership. He's taken the bridge, he's a powerful man. Everyone's at his mercy. They pray to me, and cry to me that I change things. I waited, I gave him a choice to turn back from his ways. I gave him a choice but he doesn't take it. He thinks himself a god now." Fury laced her tone, Pamala still couldn't understand why she was seeing all of this things. When the moon goddess stretched her hand again she took it. The scene shifted to one where Augustine was on his knees weeping , people gathered around him, also on their knees.

It was night, the moon was shining brighter than usual, the werewolves howled to the sight of the moon.

She saw a figure descend to earth, two beastly wolves by her side, she looks divinely, everyone knees in submission and fear. Pamala was looking at the moon goddess.

"Augustine, I warned you for years. I sent messengers to you, I told you to change from your ways, yet you disobeyed me. You've caused chaos in the world and made my people live in fear." She spoke out in authority.

"I am sorry. I was doing what I thought was right, my ancestors gave us the bridge to trade. I took it to honor them." He yelled.

"No you didn't. You took it for your own selfishness, you made everyone bow to you and worship you, straying far from me. One of your many atrocities. I've come here to punish you." She said and he shrunk in fear.

"Please please. I'll return the bridge" He pleaded.

"You can't undo the harm and pain you've inflicted. Because of what you've done, no pack shall be united and they'll never coexist together in harmony I tried so hard to maintain. Today I curse you and your generations to come, you'll be scorned and cast away wherever you step foot. The ground will harden when you work, everyone that helped you start this war will suffer the same fate as you. You'll eat from the scrapes of people and you'll never be regarded in any light. Weak and subjected to hate, I curse you. You'll be called an Omega along with your generations to come." By the time she finished there was silence everywhere only pitiful crying.

Augustine realizing the severity of the curse began to cry and plead for mercy as she offered none. He begged but she turned her back against him and that was the end. It felt as if time had frozen, there was a pause in the world around them, when Pamala looked at the goddess she couldn't understand the expression on her face. It was blank, she didn't say anything.

But Pamala was furious, resentment clawing deep into her mind. With anger the moon goddess had cursed him and those that hadn't been born yet into misery. Her anger was justified but the punishment was unfair. She didn't understand the ways of the higher entities.

"Why?" That was all she could make out.

"It was the right thing to do. He brought it upon himself, you'll not understand."She said.

"What I don't understand is why I am being made to suffer what what I know nothing off!" She yelled.

"You don't want to offend me, Pamala. Augustine had brought distrust back to the world, he began the trend where beta's takeover Alpha's. Men I picked to rule over the packs, with their beta's to render assistance. With the way things became disorganized he opened way for other things. People used to live in fear of going against me, but when he forcefully took the title and the bridge he gave others ideas, they felt they could do anything they want. There is a reason why rules are made."

"You could have stopped him when he first started. It shouldn't have gone that far." Pamala added.

"You won't understand the power of freewill." She said.

'It doesn't make any sense. Werewolves like me go though the worst case of bullying and you're telling me it's justified. Why will I suffer for someone else's sins, all because I am his descendant. It's been centuries or maybe eons since and you haven't changed your mind, haven't we suffered enough. Can't you lift the curse?" She asked in frustration.

"godly bodies work with order, you won't understand." She said.

Pamala groaned, she felt like pulling her hair from her scalp "Then make me understand! Because of my social standing I was rejected without as much as a blink. Discarded like trash!"

"Augustine began the disorder. When he began to work against laws, others followed and someone broke the most important law. Rejecting a mate, I've never been so furious and disrespected."

"What happened." Pamala asked

"Find out yourself Pamala. Only then will you tell me if I was too harsh with my punishment."

"What about u-"

"Find out yourself. You're the first of your kind I've shown myself to in years, do you want to undo what has been done?"

"I have so many questions. I am more confused than ever, I'm hurt and tired, but I want to break the curse " She said in heartbreak. The moon goddess shook her head.

"You don't know what you talk about. Be careful. It's time to go." She gave out her hand and Pamala took it.

"Seek and you shall find."

A gush of wind surrounded them and she felt her soul thrown back into her body she sucked in breath, sweat coated her forehead.

"She's awake, Kara!" The loud voice of jade ringing in the room

Her mother and her father surrounded her, from the tears streaming down their faces she must have caused quite the stir. She coughed when she tried to speak. Her head throbbing badly, then the images of her dream or maybe vision swam in her mind. She couldn't understand it, was it real or was her subconscious messing with her. Everything felt different, she was confused, Pamala felt like she was going insane.

Something was empty inside her, a void that couldn't be filled, she tried to reach for her wolf and she couldn't. She began to panic.

"You were unconscious for one week, we feared we might have lost you. I thought you were never going to wake up." Her mother sobbed, it was painful to see her cry like that.

"Don't overwhelm her," Her father said softly to her Mom.

"Thank goodness you're awake, Pamala. Don't ever do that to us again!" Jade cried.

Pamala didn't know what to say, even if she tried to she couldn't. Her throat felt dry and itchy, but the empty feeling was more uncomfortable.
