QUESTIONS

Pamala sniffed into her mother's shoulders crying. Her will to live reduced to a zero. She didn't want to go home, she wanted to die. Even die from her injuries, why had that strange werewolf helped her. He would have left her to her fate, death would have been better than this hellhole she was living in.

"You're bleeding way too much, Pam. We need to get you to the pack healer immediately." Kala panicked as she stared at Pamala's wounded neck that wasn't healing as fast as it should. She grew worried, fear and anxiety gripped her. Pamala was turning paler and her breaths were shallow.

"I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to stay here and die." She whispered.

"Please don't say that, there's more to life.  We all need you, I need you to stay alive. Please don't give up now." Jade begged. She squat down to hold Pamala's hands. When she stared at her best friend, Jade saw that Pamala had lost all her sparkles, she seemed lost and tired. Her heart clenched and she swallowed the lump in her throat. How was Pamala ever going to survive a rejection.

"Go ahead and just live your lives! I don't want to be a part of this world anymore. It is too cruel Ma! He didn't even think twice before tossing me aside like a piece of rag. People look at me as if I disgust them! I am fat, ugly and wretched. I have no place in this world and I've decided to give it all up, can't you see Mama. Even the moon goddess deem us cursed. We are cursed!" She yelled, every word harsher than the next. Her father Luke, flinched. The words had hurt a great deal, she saw it from the expression on their faces, but she didn't care. No matter how they tried to hope or sugarcoat it. It'll always remain the truth, they were bound to suffering forever.

"I'm sorry." Her father whispered unable to meet her eyes. It was quiet between them, only the cold whispers of the night could be heard and the stench of blood could be smelt. She broke into a loud sob, it was heart wrenching and utterly painful to watch. She cried for the girl that was treated poorly all because of her status, she cried for the girl filled with insecurities, she cried for the girl that once hoped for love and a happy ever after, she cried for the girl whose dream was lost and crushed, she cried for herself.

"Why us?" Her mother whispered to the moon. Holding her daughters broken body in her arms , it had her shaking in tears, no one deserved to be treated so cruelly.

"Why have you decided to punish us. Why my daughter? She didn't deserve any of this!" She pointed to the moon aggravated. "You're not our goddess, you watch this things happen and do nothing. What kind of god are you?" She screamed to the moon. Her husband Luke tried to stop her from sprouting more obscenities but she didn't want to be stopped. She cursed the moon, she swore on it.

"Ma, please." Jade said. "We have to bring her to the packs healer immediately. I know you're angry, but Pamala needs urgent care."

"Yes we have to go" Luke quickly added, lowering himself so Pamala could be placed on his back, he piggyback her as they walked out of the woods, having one final look at the rogues. All through the walk she didn't mutter a word, as much as it worried them they thought it was for good if she didn't say anything.

After walking a distance the truck came in view, he was able to strap her in and they drove back to the pack in silence. Each buried in their own thoughts. A night that was supposed to be a change of destiny had turned out to be the worst night of their lives.  They arrived at the pack clinic, taking her to an empty ward while the pack healer  made to examine the gravity of the injury.

Kala saw as they looked at them with curiosity and pity, she guessed immediately that word must have spread out so quickly about the ugly events of the night.

"The injuries are pretty severe, may I ask how she got them in the first place?" The healer asked Pamala's parents who were also inside the room with him.

"She got into a nasty fight with rogues during her run in the woods." Pamala mother answered truthfully. The healer seemed surprised, she looked at the unconscious girl on the bed as if trying to discern how she'd fought with rogues.

"She killed them?" The lady asked and kala nodded. Smiling wryly she proceeded to place her hands on the wounded flesh closing her eyes to concentrate using her gift. With a faint glow radiating from her palm the wounds began to close up and heal nicely until there was nothing left. When the healer was done, she looked tired and worn out.

"Thank you!" Luke bowed in sincerity.

"Of course but my services are not free, make sure to see the counter." she said.

"Of course we'll do that,"  kala quickly added.

"She'll be fine, she just needs to rest, we'll give her the drip. Luckily she didn't lose too much blood, we wouldn't need a donor." The lady said and smiled politely. "Well excuse me" she walked away leaving them to Pamala.

"Will she be alright?" Jade asked in a small voice.

"She will. Why not you go home and rest Jade, you've done so much for us. Thank you." kala held the Young girl's hand in gratitude. She was emotional and teary eye at the show of love from jade.

"She's like my sister. I'm not doing anything special, it is what I should do." Jade said.

"Alright then. Go home and rest, your parents Will be worried." Luke added. The girl smiled before Saying a goodbye to them stopping at the door when she recalled something.

"Promise me you'll call me once she regains consciousness?" Jade asked and kala confirmed with a nod. Reluctantly she left.

Kala and Luke stayed by their daughters bed all through as she was placed on a drip, she seemed to be running a fever and was having nightmares. They grew only more anxious.

In Pamala's dream she'd seen herself walking down an aisle in what seem to be a temple, a sacred temple. There was nobody, only huge pillars that went all the way to the high ceiling.

The long aisle was unending, she was patient, every stride drew her to something bigger and powerful. The windows had markings of the moon, both the full moon and half moon. There were a lot of carved images, she awed the more she saw.

She saw eyes appear occasionally on the walls. They looked like eyes of werewolves in the wolf form ranging from different colors, they were watching her intensely. As she grew nearer she saw a woman in a white silk dress sitting on a throne. Her aura impelling.

Her skin was fair, her black hair long and straight, she was so beautiful and powerful it hurt to look at. An air of nobility surrounded her. When she stood up from the throne Pamala gasped.

"Moon goddess."
