Sofia's POV.
"Greetings to you all." I greeted them loudly. Not a sound was heard as I greeted them, their eyes were fixated on me and I could see lust evident in the eyes of some of the men who gazed at me and jealousy creased the brows of the women.I chuckled softly as I wasn't oblivious to the effect I have on everyone I come across.I took a step forward and began to walk slowly yet majestically into the huge dining room, a man in his mid-forties or fifties sprang to his feet and hastened to meet me halfway.I halted and waited for him to reach me."You're here." He said briefly."Yes, I am here," I replied with a smile.A peaceful smile spread across his face as he gently kissed my hand and planted a soft kiss on them. I giggled and refused to acknowledge the death glares being thrown my way. I bowed my head slightly and curtsied."Alpha Jose," I said."Sofia." He said softly."It's an honor to be received by you," I said as calmly as I could."You're more beautiful than I remember." He praised me and I smiled."You flatter me Alpha, you look healthier than a man in his twenties, what on Earth has Luna been feeding you? Potions of strength, agility, and good looks? I covet your youthfulness!" I was complimented. His cheeks turned red as he blushed at my words. I knew Alpha Jose loved to hear his praise so I did that to get on his good side. He cleared his throat and looked back at the diners."We've been waiting for you, come to the table and join us." He invited me.I bowed my head slightly and followed him as he led the way. I was offered a seat just opposite his Luna and in between two fair ladies who were seated with their supposed spouses. They all looked familiar as I recollected seeing their faces during Mara's wedding but I brushed it off, they were better avoided.I half bowed my head to acknowledge Luna, she smiled and gingerly sipped wine from a golden cup."It is a great honor to behold your magnificent face again Luna. " I praised."You flatter me, how are your people?" She replied."We've been fine, enjoying your benevolence," I replied. She smiled, she prided in hearing her praises, it took all my willpower not to puke right in front of her. I hated proud people, her nose flared up and she seemed to sniff the air around and her eyes landed on me."Oh, dear! You look beautiful as usual but goodness! You should take a bath, you look like you just had an encounter with a sand monster." She said mockingly the women at the table giggled and I smiled coyly."The journey here isn't an easy one my Luna, if I can't fight what's as little as a sand monster how will my father put the affairs of the pack into my hands?" I insulted indirectly knowing well that her sons were no match to my battle prowess. Her expression turned sour which she immediately masked with a smile, Alpha Jose quickly stepped in by raising his cup of wine and offering a toast."A toast, to celebrate Sofia's arrival and the beginning of new things for both packs." He toasted. We all lifted our glasses of wine and accepted the toast. A Lady beside me snorted as I gulped down my share of the wine at a go and muttered something like 'Unladylike behavior' I ignored her words and eyed the chunks of food the maids began to bring in and set the table for breakfast."You're already eating the food with your eyes Sofia." Alesix; one of the sons of Jose said and I laughed briefly."I can't wait to eat, I'm famished." I joked."You didn't eat throughout your journey?" A girl asked.I looked at her and she kept mute, I couldn't remember where I'd seen her or even know her name."Don't be so harsh on Klara, she's a distant relative." Alesix imputed.I nodded my head and mouthed an 'oh'"Forgive me, Klara, I never knew." I apologize. She smiled and acknowledged my apologies.Everyone got down to business and began to munch on the meal, only talking between intervals or praising the chef."This chicken tastes heavenly! I need to have this recipe." I joked and everyone laughed heartily. The table consisted of the Luis family, bother far and near, I recognized some and didn't know others."So tell us Sofia, how's handling your father's armies and going to the battlefront experience like you?" Someone randomly asks.I chewed what was left of the chicken in my mouth before clearing my throat."It's exhilarating and fun at the same time, the thrill in having to drive my sword into the hearts of our enemies and cutting off their heads? Priceless!" I responded."You sleep well at night knowing there are hundreds of blood on your hands?" A girl asked and I chuckled."Thousands of blood, but it doesn't belong to my people does it? It's the blood of betrayers, rogues, and those who pose a potential threat to my pack's existence, that's what we live for, our people." I retorted, making her shut her mouth."Your father must be proud of you.""Not to brag but who wouldn't?" I joked lightly. They all laughed and I joined in, a few questions also rolled in and I answered them carefully. it would be absurd to divulge vital information to them. I was eating and laughing but my mind was not at ease as my eyes wandered around hoping to find what I had originally come here from. The scent still lingered in my nose and I desperately ached for my nose to catch them again, yes; I was seeking my mate and will remain restless until I set eyes on him.Sofia's POV."Will you help us with this fighting prowess of yours? I'd wager all the men would be scared once they hear of your victories." Alex teased.I smiled and focused on my meal, I'd love to continue bantering with him but I was still worried. I should have sensed mate by now but everything remained the same.I began to suspect that I'd make a huge mistake of agreeing to whatever I was doing here."Our men are very brave, they wouldn't be scared of a mere woman." Luna bragged.I found her words fascinating and insulting at the same time, a wicked smile graced the corner of my lips."They are brave but I dare say even the best of them won't last longer than ten moves against me in a friendly tussle," I said. They were amazed by my confidence."Are you challenging the best of our warriors?""I wouldn't call that a challenge, it's a fact.""You're good with the sword and rumor has it that no one has ever won against you in a sword fight so that is your main forte.""Would you lik
Sofia's POV.It was almost impossible to keep my temper in check as I ascended the stairway to my appointed room, Freya was concerned as I hissed continuously. We made a few turns and the maids bowed in respect as we walked past them, the guards also acknowledged my presence but I was too infuriated to greet them.Freya slowed down and I was shocked, I wanted to get to my privacy as soon as possible."Why did we stop?" I asked, irritated."I'm sorry my Lady but you just seem not fine to me, is there anything bothering you?" She asked worriedly. This time; I could see the sincerity in her eyes but I was too angry to reply."I'm just tired, can I get to my room please?" I asked. She was taken aback by my cold response but she had no you and after taking a few more turns in the gigantic Mansion; we finally halted at the front of a huge door which I guessed to be the door to my room. She fished out a key from her inner pocket and unlocked the door. I was welcomed by the scent of freshness
Martinez's POV.The entire Luis Mansion and half the pack had begun preparations for Sofia's arrival weeks before she came. It was irritating to see them prepare so much for that class arrogant creature, I love her aura and confidence but she prided herself above most men and female werewolves were meant to succumb to the male. Our first encounter was when I had gone to her pack to get my then-substitute mate, who happened to be her cousin. She didn't spare me a glance neither was I interested in her affairs. As fate would have it, she was chosen to be my mate and this gave me joy. I'd teach her how to maintain her status as a female. I'd heard the news of her being resilient and courageous. She'd gone to war when even make would hide that she was befitting to be my Luna. I wanted the union to be done quickly so I could assume my post as the alpha of the pack. Ever since my dad died I believed that he was murdered. That has been my goal. Her anticipated arrival came and she acknowledg
CHAPTER 6.Martinez's POV. I was completely shocked by her damaging and hurtful words, I knew that people mocked me behind my back and said atrocious things, but her words were too much to swallow. She looked as if she realized that she had gone far with her words, but nothing could be rectified now. It was a painful blow to my ego. I was an acting Alpha and didn't have the throne yet, but even though I wasn't regarded as the Alpha of this pack, I still deserved respect. Pain filled my eyes, the loss of my father made bitterness swim into my gut. I had always hidden this pain I felt from everyone in the pack, but she was making me feel sudden emotions I had thought were buried a long time ago. But I wasn't one to be easily trampled upon, I would not let her find any weakness in me, I quickly masked my hurt expression with anger. “How dare you?” I spat my words gruesomely as I stepped closer to her, close enough to feel the heat of her angry glare on me, close enough to want to sn
Sofia's POV. I couldn't believe what had just played down in front of my eyes; he was such an arrogant and egoistic bastard. I gritted my teeth in assertion of the terrible mate the moon goddess had decided to bless me with. “I never knew he was this much of a jerk, now I understand the words that say 'All that glitters isn't gold'. He might be facially, seductively handsome, " I spoke to myself but chided myself Instantly for thinking about his features. Did I just term him a blessing? He wasn't a blessing but a curse. That wasn't a blessing at all. I couldn't believe that I found him handsome and delightful to the eye at first, unknown to me that he was a rotten scoundrel who fathoms making a joke of me. Father would have had his head for every word he spoke. Father would not stand any one hurting me, and that I was certain of. I took some steps forward and another thought entered into my mind; I had to return to my pack, what was I going to tell my father?, how was I going to
Sofia's POV. I stood by the widow's side, looking at the earlier bright sky that turned awkwardly dull. It looked like the Heavens were going to open at any given minute. I let out a sharp sigh as the cold breeze rushed through the window. It gazed at my skin, making me smile sadly. It was matching weather for the worst day of my life, but thankfully my father trained me with so much wisdom and capabilities that I would not run out of it in a long time. The moon goddess made me strong;much stronger than other female werewolves, even the males were no match for me. I was gifted with intelligence, strength, guts and power. Not only that, but beauty was also no exemption. All the men in the pack have secret fights among themselves just to know who had the guts to approach me. I said it right because I wasn't one to be reckoned with or presumed to be a damsel distressed. I had ruled over men twice my age, I had made decisions that the elders found hard to make. Furthermore, I have t
Sofia's POV.Why was he kissing my hand?, why didn't he do this during dinner in front of everyone?, why was it now? Well, if he thought that I was some defenseless female werewolf, then he was mistaken because I was confident that even if we were to wrestle; He was no match for me.I was already thinking of several ways to defend myself. Knocking him out, slashing his throat. These were murderous thoughts just because of a kiss on my knuckles. Wait… I suddenly realized that I was exaggerating about things because I wasn't used to a werewolf walking up to me and kissing my hand or having any contact at all with me. I had always had this tendency to send male werewolves away from me, I wasn't like those female werewolves who sleep around to satisfy their heat. I was trained to control myself and put all my emotions in check. It was just a kiss on the hand, not like he kissed me on the lips and anyway he was old enough to be my father;his status would not permit him to do anything w
Sofia's POV. That was my wolf speaking. We were both confident and full of tenacity and I dare say defiance, but this man was nothing like just confident or a high-handed Alpha, but he was also callous.I knew this from the first day I met him. I had bad feelings about him, but one can't judge based on instincts but by their words and actions. Both his actions were creepy and his words. They carried cruelty in them, and it was horrifying that a person like him could rule over people. I felt disdain instantly for him; When I heard the rumors at first, I thought that those hearsays were false and based on people's jealousy over his rulership. I was wrong because the people's opinions, even though static, were true. I heard about how he punished rogues, prisoners and ruled over his people with a hardened heart and ruthlessness, but what I was seeing proved those assumptions right. I sighed and turned my gaze to him, and he was still smiling and smirking. I wanted to wipe that smug
