Chapter 2.

Sofia's POV.

"Greetings to you all." I greeted them loudly.

Not a sound was heard as I greeted them, their eyes were fixated on me and I could see lust evident in the eyes of some of the men who gazed at me and jealousy creased the brows of the women.

I chuckled softly as I wasn't oblivious to the effect I have on everyone I come across.

I took a step forward and began to walk slowly yet majestically into the huge dining room, a man in his mid-forties or fifties sprang to his feet and hastened to meet me halfway.

I halted and waited for him to reach me.

"You're here." He said briefly.

"Yes, I am here," I replied with a smile.

A peaceful smile spread across his face as he gently kissed my hand and planted a soft kiss on them. I giggled and refused to acknowledge the death glares being thrown my way. I bowed my head slightly and curtsied.

"Alpha Jose," I said.

"Sofia." He said softly.

"It's an honor to be received by you," I said as calmly as I could.

"You're more beautiful than I remember." He praised me and I smiled.

"You flatter me Alpha, you look healthier than a man in his twenties, what on Earth has Luna been feeding you? Potions of strength, agility, and good looks? I covet your youthfulness!" I was complimented.

His cheeks turned red as he blushed at my words. I knew Alpha Jose loved to hear his praise so I did that to get on his good side. He cleared his throat and looked back at the diners.

"We've been waiting for you, come to the table and join us." He invited me.

I bowed my head slightly and followed him as he led the way. I was offered a seat just opposite his Luna and in between two fair ladies who were seated with their supposed spouses.

They all looked familiar as I recollected seeing their faces during Mara's wedding but I brushed it off, they were better avoided.

I half bowed my head to acknowledge Luna, she smiled and gingerly sipped wine from a golden cup.

"It is a great honor to behold your magnificent face again Luna. " I praised.

"You flatter me, how are your people?" She replied.

"We've been fine, enjoying your benevolence," I replied.

She smiled, she prided in hearing her praises, it took all my willpower not to puke right in front of her. I hated proud people, her nose flared up and she seemed to sniff the air around and her eyes landed on me.

"Oh, dear! You look beautiful as usual but goodness! You should take a bath, you look like you just had an encounter with a sand monster." She said mockingly the women at the table giggled and I smiled coyly.

"The journey here isn't an easy one my Luna, if I can't fight what's as little as a sand monster how will my father put the affairs of the pack into my hands?" I insulted indirectly knowing well that her sons were no match to my battle prowess.

Her expression turned sour which she immediately masked with a smile, Alpha Jose quickly stepped in by raising his cup of wine and offering a toast.

"A toast, to celebrate Sofia's arrival and the beginning of new things for both packs." He toasted.

We all lifted our glasses of wine and accepted the toast. A Lady beside me snorted as I gulped down my share of the wine at a go and muttered something like 'Unladylike behavior' I ignored her words and eyed the chunks of food the maids began to bring in and set the table for breakfast.

"You're already eating the food with your eyes Sofia." Alesix; one of the sons of Jose said and I laughed briefly.

"I can't wait to eat, I'm famished." I joked.

"You didn't eat throughout your journey?" A girl asked.

I looked at her and she kept mute, I couldn't remember where I'd seen her or even know her name.

"Don't be so harsh on Klara, she's a distant relative." Alesix imputed.

I nodded my head and mouthed an 'oh'

"Forgive me, Klara, I never knew." I apologize.

She smiled and acknowledged my apologies.

Everyone got down to business and began to munch on the meal, only talking between intervals or praising the chef.

"This chicken tastes heavenly! I need to have this recipe." I joked and everyone laughed heartily.

The table consisted of the Luis family, bother far and near, I recognized some and didn't know others.

"So tell us Sofia, how's handling your father's armies and going to the battlefront experience like you?" Someone randomly asks.

I chewed what was left of the chicken in my mouth before clearing my throat.

"It's exhilarating and fun at the same time, the thrill in having to drive my sword into the hearts of our enemies and cutting off their heads? Priceless!" I responded.

"You sleep well at night knowing there are hundreds of blood on your hands?" A girl asked and I chuckled.

"Thousands of blood, but it doesn't belong to my people does it? It's the blood of betrayers, rogues, and those who pose a potential threat to my pack's existence, that's what we live for, our people." I retorted, making her shut her mouth.

"Your father must be proud of you."

"Not to brag but who wouldn't?" I joked lightly.

They all laughed and I joined in, a few questions also rolled in and I answered them carefully. it would be absurd to divulge vital information to them. I was eating and laughing but my mind was not at ease as my eyes wandered around hoping to find what I had originally come here from.

The scent still lingered in my nose and I desperately ached for my nose to catch them again, yes; I was seeking my mate and will remain restless until I set eyes on him.
