Chapter Seventeen

As Amelia sat alone in her bedroom after returning from the hospital, a glass of wine in her hand, her thoughts weighed heavy on her heart. The news of James's passing had left her shaken and saddened. She hoped that she had done enough to comfort Sarah during such a difficult time. Lost in her thoughts, she was startled when she heard a knock on the door.

She opened it to find Raymond standing there, concern etched on his face. His presence brought a glimmer of solace amid her sorrow.

"Raymond, what brings you here?" Amelia asked, trying to hide the sadness in her voice.

Raymond stepped inside, his eyes scanning the room, noticing the half-empty glass of wine in Amelia's hand. "Amelia, I couldn't help but notice that something is bothering you. Is everything okay?"

Amelia sighed, setting her glass down on a nearby table. "It's Sarah. Her brother, James… didn't make it. It's been so hard for her, and I can't help but feel for her and the pain she's going through."
