Chapter 14

Every minute that passes, the footsteps become louder and clearer.

Careful not to create any unnecessary noise, I tiptoed and hid behind a mango tree's trunk and held my breath again while silently praying that hopefully they wouldn't find me here, whatever it was.

When I tried to sneak in a glance, my eyes found a red glare. Not just one, but plenty of them, and they are all growling at me.

They want my flesh.

"Please... please just let me go. I am not worthy to be your prey, I swear to all of you," I said.

They growled at me. I saw their sharp fangs that could pierce my skin any minute now.

Both of my hands covered my ears as I heard a loud screeching noise that didn't seem to stop. I bit my lips to compose myself and for me to stay calm, but it was followed by a great deal of physical pain.

My eyes are still closed as I bear the pain, and tears started rolling down my cheeks.

Is my life going to end like this?

I felt like my body was ripping into bits and pieces, but I couldn't do
