DAKOTA'S POV. Because of all the commotion and we losing our house to a fire, we moved to our grandparents' house-- my dad's father-- his house was a classical manor in the countryside with a courtyard thrice as big as our former house. My grandfather was a professional golf player, though retired, he owned a golf club and he had a golf court in his courtyard and he played golf in it whenever he had some free time. When I entered the house reception a river of nostalgia hit me, this was one of the reasons I didn't like coming here it brought back memories of when I was little. I remember spending most of my time here as a child especially whenever I was on holiday, now I barely come here apart from a few occasions like this. We were greeted by maids in well-pressed black and white uniforms, and then they showed me the room I was going to stay in. Since we didn't have a house we were going to stay here till we bought or rented another one When I entered the room the maids bowed bef
I entered the lecture hall and sat behind, as usual, I was late. I disliked morning lectures and coming to classes so early. This morning we were having philosophy and I kind of enjoyed the course and the lectures. Our lecturer was Professor Silver Springs, who was a renowned philosopher in the country he was about sixty years of age, he was always on low cuts and he wears tailcoats most of the time. His classes were interesting and lively, he was very good at lecturing the course. When I was well seated on my chair, I brought out my textbooks and notebook from my bag and I was ready to listen to what Prof Silver was saying but then Luke Calvin the new transfer student entered the hall. I watched him as he took a seat at the front of the lecture hall, weird enough, this had been three weeks since he was transferred into this college and hadn't spoken to anyone since that time, yet he was so popular, talks about him spread like wildfire, and there were countless gossip and rumours ab
I took in a deep breath, I was trying to suppress all the nervousness in me, but it wasn't working. Why was I this nervous? I was standing by the side of Luke Calvin that was enough reason for me to be nervous! "Hi!" I squeaked miserably with my hands behind my back and my fingers playing with each other. This was what I did anytime I was nervous. He removed his gaze from me and walked passed me. He just snubbed me! Even though he just snubbed me, I was still hesitant, I haven't given up on talking with him yet. "Hi," I repeated, this time I raised my voice thinking that he didn't hear me the first time. He continued walking without turning back, pretending as if I wasn't there-- I didn't exist to him. I froze and this feeling of disappointment and sadness enveloped me. I felt so stupid and my self-esteem became lower than what it used to be before. Why did I forget that I was a nobody and decided to approach him? Why did I even decide to do something this stupid? I walked b
After having a very delicious lunch in the Ginny restaurant we strolled back to my apartment which was off campus--it was just ten minutes walk from campus. When we reached the building I greeted Lewis who was our Gardner, he was tall and quite old, probably in his early 60s, but he was very friendly and he always wore a beaming smile on his face. I fished for my keys in my handbag when we arrived at my doorstep. "I can't find my keys," I alarmed Emily and continued searching for my room keys, after twenty minutes of a fruitless search for my room keys, I gave up. I turned to Emily and she immediately understood the situation we were in. "Don't worry yourself too much, Dakota," she said calmly and I began wondering why she was thus calm. She's always calm in times like this. Didn't she know that we are stranded here without my keys? "Relax, Dakota, you gotta learn how to worry less, Dakota." Relax really? Every fragment of me was worried about my room keys, if I lose them, it woul
Emily picked a very skimpy sleeveless purple gown for me and no doubt I looked kind of good in it. I looked at myself in the mirror and I noticed how the gown brought out my curves, I liked the gown, but the problem I had with it was that it was too tight and it was difficult for me to walk and breathe in it. But as they say "you have to go through pain at times just to look beautiful."Sigh.I combed my long ebony hair and then packed it into a perfect ponytail. I applied light makeup on my face and checked myself in the mirror before leaving my apartment. Emily was going to wait for me close to the party venue so I boarded a taxi to the place where we planned to meet. When the driver got there I got down from the car and paid him, I saw Emily not too far from the place I was. She approached me and she was damn hot, her red gown adorned her body and her make-up was breathtaking. She came very prepared for this party. "Are you ready, Dakota?" She asked as she approached me. I wasn
"I think I will be taking my leave now," he said and turned around. "I'm Justin Lemon, by the way," He told me and I giggled slightly, he had the name of a fruit. "Nice name," I said smirking and he chuckled."I know, I get that a lot," he said and I smiled, we'd just known each other for barely ten minutes and it felt like I'd known him for long. "What department are you in?" I asked and he ran his hand through his hair. "Criminology," he told me and I became surprised, he didn't look like it, he looked like he was in the pharmacy department--that was the den of hot boys, while in the criminology department only geeks and bookworms type of boys that were there. "That's nice, what level are you cause this is the first time I am seeing you here?" I did not know everyone in school but I was familiar with most students' faces, and I had never seen his face before."300 and I'm a transfer student." He was on the same level as I am! He was a transfer student just like Luke! But he was m
I woke up with the sun rays streaming through my room window. I blink rapidly and use my hand to cover my eyes from the brilliance of the sun.My head ached badly, I couldn't fully remember how I got here. All I could remember was that I was with someone last night and the person drove me here. Or was it a dream? No, it felt too real to be a dream.Who was I with?Justin Lemon, yes I was with Justin, the hot guy with a Spanish accent that has the name of a fruit."Justin!" I shouted and looked around hoping that he was there. Then I noticed a piece of neatly folded paper tucked by the side of my bed. I hurriedly picked the paper up, I knew there was an important message in the paper.I unfolded the paper. Just as I thought it was an important message-it was a note from Justin! It reads:I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye before I left. You were so fast asleep that I didn't want to disrupt your sleep. See ya later, my sleeping mi Belle. ~Justin.I couldn't remember falling asleep in his
Emily?" I whispered. "I have great news for you." I was eager to tell Emily how Luke stared at me for some seconds. She turned to me and I was as ready as possible to break the news to her. She perceived that it was not something of great importance and stared away quickly. I frowned."Emily this is urgent," I persisted and her eyebrows furrowed."For goodness sake, Cruise, we are in a lecture session.""I know, but this is very urgent," I pushed on and she rolled her eyes, right now my brain couldn't process whether what I was doing was sensible or not. "Ok fine." She finally gave up, she turned to me again and asked, "What is it?"I straightened myself for the hundredth time."It's Luke," I said giggling and my cheeks began turning red."Yes, what happened to him, did he die?" She asked bluntly."No, no he did not die, I won't be happy if he died," I said honestly and she rolled her eyes."I'll be happy if he did so that you can let me be for a damn second," she said through her
