I entered the lecture hall and sat behind, as usual, I was late. I disliked morning lectures and coming to classes so early.
This morning we were having philosophy and I kind of enjoyed the course and the lectures. Our lecturer was Professor Silver Springs, who was a renowned philosopher in the country he was about sixty years of age, he was always on low cuts and he wears tailcoats most of the time. His classes were interesting and lively, he was very good at lecturing the course. When I was well seated on my chair, I brought out my textbooks and notebook from my bag and I was ready to listen to what Prof Silver was saying but then Luke Calvin the new transfer student entered the hall.I watched him as he took a seat at the front of the lecture hall, weird enough, this had been three weeks since he was transferred into this college and hadn't spoken to anyone since that time, yet he was so popular, talks about him spread like wildfire, and there were countless gossip and rumours about him flying around in school. I didn't know whether it was because of his good looks or because he had a peculiar character that everyone loved talking about that made him this popular. But no doubt, he was very handsome, he had sea blue eyes, he had long lashes, he had a chiselled jawline, he was tall and muscular--he was every girl's dream."Essss. Has Luke Calvin carried your mind somewhere else again?" Emily my best friend whispered into my ears and tapped my shoulders rapidly, pulling me out of my trance, I was mooning at Luke's breathtaking features."No-no I wasn't even thinking of him," I stammered my reply and pretended as if I was listening to what Mr Silver was saying. "I was thinking of something else.""Really Cruise? That's the best lie you can give?" She raised an eyebrow. "I have been there and I am still there Cruise." Emily could tell whether I was lying or not even though no one could--I wonder how she does it, maybe it was because we have been best friends since we were four and she knew me as a sister that was why she could detect whether I was lying or not, I have spent more than half of my life with her and all the moment of our lives we spent together were so precious to me."No, I am not lying. I can't be sitting here daydreaming about Luke when I got exams next week," I still defended my lie, I flipped the pages of my textbook and pretended like I was reading it."You were staring and drooling at him so much that I thought you were being hypnotized. You were surely daydreaming about him," she said shaking her head slowly, "You should go talk to him Cruise, or this will just get worse."Talk to him? That was impossible, I couldn't do that! He wouldn't want to talk to someone like me. I've heard of how he snubbed everyone both boys and girls who approached him to start a conversation, and I, who was almost a nobody in school can't even try that, he wouldn't even pay attention to me."No, I can't. I don't think that would be a good idea," I voiced my mind, even though I am against meeting up with him and then starting a conversation, a part of me wanted it."I'm sure it is a great idea, you can't say whether it's a great idea or not if you don't try it out." She smirked and gave me a convincing look. "By the way, he won't do anything to you if you talk to him. Would he?""A try? Yes he would, he could snub me or do something worse," I told her and she chuckled."You're being silly, Cruise, he won't do such, I guess," she contemplated, her facial expression showing that she wasn't sure about it."You aren't sure about it?" She nodded. "Oh my God, Emily and you want me to go for it.""Yes, I did say you should, who knows whether he might answer you and then you guys become acquainted."Acquainted with me? She must be joking! This school had many girls who are better than me in every way, I am certain that I won't even be his last choice of acquaintance."Please say something realistic," I doubted."So you are saying that you aren't sexy and capable enough to be that asshole's friend?" She raised an eyebrow questioning and I shrugged."I just don't think. I am certain that I am light years away from his choice of girls. I am not even capable of winning Tom's heart." She gasped. Yes, Tom, the most idiotic boy in school who is hated by every single girl in this school, was such a big pervert, ugly and annoying, No girl wanted to have something to do with him."That's some low self-esteem you got there, Cruise." She shook her head in disappointment and I began rethinking my decision, if I walk up to him and talk to him it might not be that bad. But girls are not usually the ones that start up a conversation...ugh, this was so difficult.I had no idea why she was disappointed I was just being careful and starting conversations is not my thing, I suck in it as much as I suck in lawn tennis. She started packing her notebooks and textbooks into her bag as soon as the lecturer announced the end of the lecture, whilst I was looking for Luke, he was nowhere to be found, he had zoomed out of the lecture room as usual, and he is always the first to leave--so much of a social life."Stop looking for him, Cruise, you know where to find him." Emily said and I became shocked, how did she know that I was looking for him? "Let's go."We stepped out of the lecture room and Emily started pinching my dress all of a sudden, I was sure that she has not changed to an annoying bed bug."What is it, Emily? I am not ready to play with you, I got-" I tried explaining to her that I was not in the mood for her games."Shut your big mouth up, and look at what I found," she snapped and pointed at Luke like he was some hidden treasure she just found. I turned my head sharply and I saw Luke walking down the hallway, he walked with so much confidence, each of his strides seemed like they were calculated, and he was so handsome even from behind."Go for it Cruise. Go claim him." She winked at me and I was confused. Was he a lottery? This girl was truly a devil, she had finally succeeded in convincing me to go talk to him as my legs began acting on their own and I saw myself chasing down Luke. What am I doing?I have to try, I have to be brave, who knows whether we could be friends? I continued chasing after him before he will go too far away from this place. I was finally fifteen feet away from him and I slowed down, his back was facing me and I suddenly feel nervousness seeping into me.What was I going to say to him? I thought as I was closing on him, he noticed that I was behind him and he turned. He stared at me and I froze, he was more handsome than I thought, he looked so superficial with his sea-blue eyes and his chiselled jawline and long lashes made me drool. His eyes scanned me and I stood there stiffly like the Statue of Liberty..."Why can't I move?" I cried in my mind.I took in a deep breath, I was trying to suppress all the nervousness in me, but it wasn't working. Why was I this nervous? I was standing by the side of Luke Calvin that was enough reason for me to be nervous! "Hi!" I squeaked miserably with my hands behind my back and my fingers playing with each other. This was what I did anytime I was nervous. He removed his gaze from me and walked passed me. He just snubbed me! Even though he just snubbed me, I was still hesitant, I haven't given up on talking with him yet. "Hi," I repeated, this time I raised my voice thinking that he didn't hear me the first time. He continued walking without turning back, pretending as if I wasn't there-- I didn't exist to him. I froze and this feeling of disappointment and sadness enveloped me. I felt so stupid and my self-esteem became lower than what it used to be before. Why did I forget that I was a nobody and decided to approach him? Why did I even decide to do something this stupid? I walked b
After having a very delicious lunch in the Ginny restaurant we strolled back to my apartment which was off campus--it was just ten minutes walk from campus. When we reached the building I greeted Lewis who was our Gardner, he was tall and quite old, probably in his early 60s, but he was very friendly and he always wore a beaming smile on his face. I fished for my keys in my handbag when we arrived at my doorstep. "I can't find my keys," I alarmed Emily and continued searching for my room keys, after twenty minutes of a fruitless search for my room keys, I gave up. I turned to Emily and she immediately understood the situation we were in. "Don't worry yourself too much, Dakota," she said calmly and I began wondering why she was thus calm. She's always calm in times like this. Didn't she know that we are stranded here without my keys? "Relax, Dakota, you gotta learn how to worry less, Dakota." Relax really? Every fragment of me was worried about my room keys, if I lose them, it woul
Emily picked a very skimpy sleeveless purple gown for me and no doubt I looked kind of good in it. I looked at myself in the mirror and I noticed how the gown brought out my curves, I liked the gown, but the problem I had with it was that it was too tight and it was difficult for me to walk and breathe in it. But as they say "you have to go through pain at times just to look beautiful."Sigh.I combed my long ebony hair and then packed it into a perfect ponytail. I applied light makeup on my face and checked myself in the mirror before leaving my apartment. Emily was going to wait for me close to the party venue so I boarded a taxi to the place where we planned to meet. When the driver got there I got down from the car and paid him, I saw Emily not too far from the place I was. She approached me and she was damn hot, her red gown adorned her body and her make-up was breathtaking. She came very prepared for this party. "Are you ready, Dakota?" She asked as she approached me. I wasn
"I think I will be taking my leave now," he said and turned around. "I'm Justin Lemon, by the way," He told me and I giggled slightly, he had the name of a fruit. "Nice name," I said smirking and he chuckled."I know, I get that a lot," he said and I smiled, we'd just known each other for barely ten minutes and it felt like I'd known him for long. "What department are you in?" I asked and he ran his hand through his hair. "Criminology," he told me and I became surprised, he didn't look like it, he looked like he was in the pharmacy department--that was the den of hot boys, while in the criminology department only geeks and bookworms type of boys that were there. "That's nice, what level are you cause this is the first time I am seeing you here?" I did not know everyone in school but I was familiar with most students' faces, and I had never seen his face before."300 and I'm a transfer student." He was on the same level as I am! He was a transfer student just like Luke! But he was m
I woke up with the sun rays streaming through my room window. I blink rapidly and use my hand to cover my eyes from the brilliance of the sun.My head ached badly, I couldn't fully remember how I got here. All I could remember was that I was with someone last night and the person drove me here. Or was it a dream? No, it felt too real to be a dream.Who was I with?Justin Lemon, yes I was with Justin, the hot guy with a Spanish accent that has the name of a fruit."Justin!" I shouted and looked around hoping that he was there. Then I noticed a piece of neatly folded paper tucked by the side of my bed. I hurriedly picked the paper up, I knew there was an important message in the paper.I unfolded the paper. Just as I thought it was an important message-it was a note from Justin! It reads:I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye before I left. You were so fast asleep that I didn't want to disrupt your sleep. See ya later, my sleeping mi Belle. ~Justin.I couldn't remember falling asleep in his
Emily?" I whispered. "I have great news for you." I was eager to tell Emily how Luke stared at me for some seconds. She turned to me and I was as ready as possible to break the news to her. She perceived that it was not something of great importance and stared away quickly. I frowned."Emily this is urgent," I persisted and her eyebrows furrowed."For goodness sake, Cruise, we are in a lecture session.""I know, but this is very urgent," I pushed on and she rolled her eyes, right now my brain couldn't process whether what I was doing was sensible or not. "Ok fine." She finally gave up, she turned to me again and asked, "What is it?"I straightened myself for the hundredth time."It's Luke," I said giggling and my cheeks began turning red."Yes, what happened to him, did he die?" She asked bluntly."No, no he did not die, I won't be happy if he died," I said honestly and she rolled her eyes."I'll be happy if he did so that you can let me be for a damn second," she said through her
He stared at me, surprised, he never expected me to do this, he didn't know that I was this crazy, even though he towered above me and I had to stand on my toes before I reached his collar, I wasn't scared. He frowned and glared at me. I rolled my eyes while still holding his shirt."I won't leave unless you say something," I told him with my eyes shut, I knew that this was stupid and outrageous, and I was going to be overwhelmed with embarrassment, but I didn't care. The hall was rowdy and I thank God for that, everyone was busy and didn't notice the little drama that was going on between Luke and me."Talking to you is not necessary," Luke said with his voice as cold as the North Pole. His voice was quite deep and his American accent sounded heavenly. My grip became weak and Luke removed my hands from his shirt."I have finally talked to you, I've done my part now it's your turn," he brought out his homework and threw it at me, "submit my homework you annoying pest." He said through
I woke up and began preparing for school. I checked my phone and I saw a text from Justin, I smiled and opened it.Justin: "Buenos Dias, Mi belle"I smiled and replied to his greeting. Justin was one of the nicest guys I have ever met, he was funny and very interesting, he liked watching criminal documentary shows and he normally tells me some of the very interesting and scary ones he has watched. I imagined him becoming a very super hot detective.I checked what today was and it was Friday, today was a special day, it was the semester's cup finals and Luke's Team and Justin's Team were playing against each other. I was so excited about the match. I didn't like football so much, but I badly wanted to see Luke and Justin play against each other. Those two were like enemies and they always competed against each other. Some days while I was with Justin we normally ran into Luke, and the air surrounding us changed, the look on their faces whenever they crossed paths showed the hatred they
