I walked into an exorbitant, most beautiful ballroom filled with gorgeous art and music, the lights were breathtaking and the chandelier sitting in a warm embrace shining bright like a diamond. Perhaps it was made of diamonds?
I walked into the ballroom, my red dinner gown that swept the floor, my exquisite diamond stones on the dress complimented my diamond handbag which drew so much attention and stares. Felix had earlier gotten me a set of jewelry, bag and shoes all diamonds to match my red dress.
Walking side by side with my husband, my arm in his, I felt somewhat protected and safe from everything. Although it was just to showcase how ‘incredible’ our relationship was and how ‘amazing’ our marriage was going.
I never for once imagined myself being in a gathering with people I see on the news and the ones I read about in articles. I felt important to be distinguished as an ‘Elite’.
“You look amazing” Felix whispered into my ear
I could feel the rush in my adrenaline, my face turning red, my insides twisting as I choked on the exquisite champagne passing down my throat at his statement.
“Thank you, you look great also” I giggled
‘I always knew he had a soft spot in him’ I said to myself. Moving around in his arms exchanging pleasantries with people of high caliber like Felix and seeing how he praised me at these people's presence not only made me smile but also made me feel so special, I lost every sad memories of us. I forgot all the yelling and ill treatment.
The joyful atmosphere was contagious as I sat smiling from ear to ear. I was involved in lots of business conversations and had the opportunity to use my intellectual knowledge on strategies and analysis and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself.
I smiled in great awe knowing full well Felix Bailey was so proud of my speeches.
“I fit in quite well” I whispered in his ears
“You’ll always fit in everywhere, you’re perfect and unique. Your aura is so beautiful and trust me when I say you’re an amazing wife and businesswoman. I’ll continue to let you know how stunning you look tonight. YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!” He said back at me with the most affectionate eyes and the calmest and sweetest voice.
I couldn’t help but think it was the champagne that was having an effect on Felix because his statements and body language at this event and on this day was unbelievable. His words sounded so real and reassuring. His sparkling eyes calling out love and affection.
Few hours into the ball, Felix was having conversations with colleagues and friends and I just sat pretty having random conversations with random people and I loved it. Although I wasn’t friends with any of them, it was good talk and they were nice to me.
Not until I saw the lady I had caught my husband with at his office did I had a nice time.
‘Ughhh’ I sighed
I couldn’t be more irritated, annoyed and displeased. The list could go on and on. Not when I thought things were going smoothly and I felt there would be changes, things went back to how it was.
•••
Maya walks into the ballroom in a blue dress, attracting everyone to her and makes heads turn. She walks towards me flirtatiously and starts touching and hugging me in the presence of everyone.
‘Ughhh not today’ I hissed
I dragged her into an empty room stylishly to avoid eyes and talks
“WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING HERE?” I asked, trying to whisper but to no avail. I couldn’t hide my disgust and anger
The irritation in me could explode. I wanted tonight to end smoothly and happily. My wife in my arms back to the mansion and we spend the night as blissfully as we should.
“What do you think you’re trying to do coming here Maya? And not just here existing on your own you had to walk over to me to make jokes? Do you think I’ll be happy smiling ear to ear seeing you? I’m here with my wife and you know it. You know quite well this is a public gathering and the paparazzi are available to make a headline” I said nonstop in disgust
“Oh now she’s your wife?” she scoffed
“I thought she’s just a cheap thing in need of a fast way to make money. You told me she meant nothing to but here you are defending her” she said
“You knew a wedding happened, a PUBLIC wedding and you should know that means she’s my wife. Look, you have no right to an explanation. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get back her” I said walking away from the room with anger
Laughing and giggling, Dana was having a nice time having conversations with ladies and it was the most beautiful thing I had seen today.
Her smile, her voice, everything about her made me extremely happy and I felt lucky to have her. I just can’t show her how she actually makes me feel.
I could stare at her gracefully built body and face all day and never get tired or bored. Walking up to her with a wide smile on my face I could feel the warmth in her voice.
“You seem to be having a lot fun” I smiled to her
“Yeah…. They are nice people so it’s not difficult. Are you done with Maya?” She asked looking directly into my eyes
I could feel the anger surfacing. “Look, I just put her in her place, that's all I did. She’s not here for me nor am I here for her. Don’t ruin the moment” I said trying to reassure her
“Hmm….. that’s fine then” she said
“Can I go back to my conversation or you have something else to say?” She asked her angelic voice calming every nerves down in my chest
“Can I have this dance?” A male voice called out from behind asking my wife for the dance
HUH?!” I turned in shock I was so confused. My wife was right in front of me and we were having a good time together so who would dare come right in front me and ask her for a dance. To my best knowledge she has no male friends matter of fact she has no other friend asides Claire and even if she did who DARES talk to her where I am. I could feel my blood getting hot and my eyes burning. I was ready to give whoever that person was a punch. I turned so fast to see who the voice belonged to. ‘Oh God’ I exhaled“JASPER??!!!” I was bewildered I couldn’t believe my eyes. My favorite cousin that I hadn’t seen for almost ten years was right in front of me with a smile on his face. “I missed you man” I leaned in for a big reciprocating hug “I haven’t seen you in forever” he said with his ever knowing and soft tone and a sweet smile. Jasper was my favorite cousin in his late twenties, we grew up together, he was like my brother not just my cousin. He moved to another country and we tal
I froze on seeing a shadow in my room. I couldn’t breath although it was a secure house I couldn’t just pinpoint why I was that scared to my bone marrow. I gathered all the courage I have in me and shouted “WHO’S THERE?” Flipping the light switch on I saw that it was Jasper shirtless on the bed I gasped heavily out of fear and shock from his body He was so hot. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He looked so much like Felix. His chest down to his structured stomach that was divided into six down to his waistline and waistband. I FROZE….. I was brought back to myself by his soft voice “Oh my God. Did I scare you?” He asked softly standing up from the bed “I’m sorry. I just entered the room and I thought I could just sit in the dark to get my head straight. It’s something I always do. I’m sorry I made you scared” he said smiling obviously forgetting that he isn’t wearing a shirt “I couldn’t breathe” I giggled nervously “But why sit in the dark to get your mind in the right place. That
Having to work as a writing editor is the most interesting thing to ever happen to me. I never thought I’d have this happiest part of my life. My so-called marriage was going well; no drama, no problems whatsoever and I was killing at work it couldn’t be any better. “I’ll see you after work” I said to Felix “Wait. A friend of mine is having a party tonight and we’ll be going over for it” he said with a warm tone “We’ll be going shopping so I’ll come get you later on. I suggest the driver takes you to work today to make things less stressful” he said “Oh, I didn’t know that I have to work late today so I don’t think I’ll be able to attend” I said “What do you mean by that?” He asked with a bossy expression “I have to work late because I have some work to get done before the weekend starts and that’s tonight” I said with confidence “I’m not asking you, I’m telling you. I’ll come pick you up and we get whatever we have to get and we go for the party whatever work you have to do s
Dana’s POVAs I sat down on my couch, sighing and thinking of my life and how God decided to make things difficult for my twenty four year old self I was brought back to life by my ringing phone“Where the hell are you” my only friend and coworker, Claire yelled through the phone“I’m on my way, there’s a lot of traffic” I lied “Be fast or else you know what” she said almost yelling I ran through the door as fast as I could knowing I’m putting my job at risk, I hailed a taxi and got in telling the driver the address, looking at how the crowd outside bubbled and the lights as beautiful as ever I only thought one thing ‘WHY ME?’My life was going the wrong way and I knew my ruthless boss at work might either fire me before I entered or yell at me throughout the night. Although quitting would have helped my peace a little, it’ll be the worst decision of my life because there’s nowhere I could run to I got down from the taxi and took a deep breath What’s the worst that can happen I
Felix POV“No mom I don’t necessarily have to get married to have a child, I just need a child” I said all blunt giving my mom the ‘leave me alone look’. I was sick and tired of my mom pestering me for a wife, I mean after everything my dad put her through she still expects me to get married?I mean it’s not like I’ll put my wife through hell like he did but I have a phobia for marriage and commitment. I can’t even picture myself in one ‘Commitment is a waste of time’ I always say to myself “You need someone to look after you my darling, someone special who will let you loosen up a bit and not that girl what’s her name again?—Maya”she spluttered with disgust and annoyance Maya was my ex-girlfriend from almost a decade back but we still ‘play around’ from time to time. My mom’s undying hatred for her makes her look very ugly even though she has nice curves and a fine face but truthfully an irritating personality. “Can I go to work now” I said walking towards the door I love my mo
***We walked out of the bar and I instantly noticed a black shining car that shined brighter than my present life and I couldn’t help but widen my eyes and scream when the ‘handsome man’ beside me opened the car with a small remote in his hand. He truly is wealthy as he looks I said to myself We walked towards the opened car and as I got in I sat on the most soft and comfortable seat ever, although a car seat, it was as soft as a five-star hotel bed. After about twenty five minutes of driving without saying a word to each other, we got to a fancy restaurant. He was a gentleman and he opened the door for me, I felt ashamed because I wasn’t dressed for dinner at a fancy restaurant“Why didn’t you say we were coming to a place like this, I’m not dressed for this place” I couldn’t even look up because of how I shy and ashamed I was “It doesn’t matter, you look okay” he said without any emotion and I couldn’t even blush at his compliment because it sounded like an insult. I looked at
I felt very uneasy as I heard his deep voice on the other end of the line, after hesitating I had to answer because my life depended on my decision and the powerful billionaire had no time to waste. “Uhhh I’ve made my decision” I said barely speaking “I need this so I’ll go through it” I said nervously On my way to my mom’s house, the only thing that was on my mind was how to explain to her the whole situation I found myself in. I didn’t want to make her worry nor did I want her to think it’ll be a contract marriage. I got to her place, she looked and felt better than she was the last time I saw her and although happy I was shocked.“Hey baby” my mom—Mrs Annabel Joseker said smiling as she always does whenever she sees me “Mama you look different from two days ago” I said with a smile but with utmost concern“I called you to tell you what happened but then you said you were coming over so I said to wait for you” she said, still smiling. “A young lady brought me my complete medica
Felix's car stood in front of his exquisite mansion and everything I saw was intriguing from the gates down to everything in the compound of the mansion. I gasped when I entered inside I had something to say about every single thing I saw from the furnitures to the chandeliers. The lighting was the nicest I’ve ever seen. While day dreaming about how my life will be in the mansion I was brought back by a deep soothing voice,“Make yourself comfortable Mrs Bailey” he said with an unclear tone leaving me confused‘Have I done anything wrong?’ I asked myself “I’ll be showing you to your room since it’s your first time here” he said walking towards the stairs without looking at me “Why do you mean ‘my room’?, we are married I thought we’re supposed to share a room so why do I have a room of my own” I looked at him with curiosity and confusion and all the excitement in my face faded awayI had all these images of our wedding night in my head and here this man was telling me about having
